Look Up: The Life and Art of Sacha Kolin

Rate this book
A story of an emigre Austrian-Parisian artist with an already established exhibition record, who arrived in the U.S. in 1936 and created a successful new life, made her way into New York's competetive art world, and thrived. Her artworks were placed all over the world in public and private collections, yet after her death the artist was forgotten. After the author, Lisa Thaler, acquired a painting of Kolin's in 1988, she spent more than a decade ferreting out and "reclaiming" the artist and her turbulent life. She tracked down Sacha's relatives and collectors in Europe and the U.S. and created a beguiling and complete biography of the artist, her work and her life Author Thaler, an eminent genealogist and family historian, has re-created the artist's life in this one book. Look up and read about the artist Sacha Kolin.

Beautiful and thoughtful biography of modern artist Sacha Kolin. Thaler's scholarly research comes through without being pedantic. Photos enhance the bio. Great book!
