Alex finds herself on the shore of a distant place - a world unfamiliar. A world of fantasy and magic. A world that is a game.
NPCs and players all insist she is an NPC, a part of the world. A part of the code of the game. A part of the fantasy to entertain the players. She rejects the idea, for her memories can't just be lies. Could they?
Alex sets out to establish herself in the sandbox fantasy world, to find her identity, and to weather the storm between the coming players and the inhabitants of the new world.
On the litRPG spectrum, this would be considered a soft litRPG. Don't expect heavy number crunching! What's in this story:
Standalone story - no unending series Female MC Less numbers Base building Magic realism Topics that might make Asimov chuckle No harems Swearing Light sexual content
The World: The Multiverse Virtual Reality, known as the MWR or MVVR, is a collection of atomic-level simulations that exist as games and research experiments. Instance_ID8092, otherwise known as the Otherworld, is a mysterious new Virtual Reality MMO that was recently revealed in the long list of VRMMOs. As soon as the players found the new game, they dove in to find an entire world thriving with NPCs.
The world exists as a geographic copy of pre-war Earth with its inhabitants enjoying a pre-industrial level of technology. Beyond the proliferation of magic, the NPCs use player-given technology daily - airships, muskets, and manatech engines.
The Game: Level progression is handled differently between nipsies (NPCs) and players (PCs).
Players are given the usual progression system and ability point usage. Early-tier spells are common across classes, with exclusive higher-level skills.
Nipsies receive their levels through bureaucratic systems to authenticate their skills. Trainers for each discipline provide upgraded spells and skills.
The Magic: Spells and skills are invoked as function calls – fire(), javelin(), vanguard(). Arguments are passed in to manipulate the magic – fire(above), javelin(ice), vanguard(holy).
Originally from the Southeast U.S., they now live in sunny LA. Former military and intelligence analyst, they now attend school and live a relatively nomadic lifestyle (Like a bum! Yay!). Rae loves pizza, coffee, and not being reminded of the eventual heat death of the universe. So much fun!
I liked this one, it was a very cool story. It could use another round of proofreading perhaps, but There were some branding terms that irked me to no end, such as calling NPCs nips (which made me yell at the book everytime I saw it), but overall, the relatively few errors certainly don't detract from it's enjoyment. I especially like how the end ties back to the beginning, (something I didn't see coming), and while there are parts of the story that didn't flow quite as well as most of the story did, is a whole, the story was very well done, and unlike most stories in this genre these days, this one could be considered a stand-alone story. I don't know if the author plans to write more in this world or not, but it's good to see a self contained story for a change. I've only seen this particular premise once before, so it was kind of nice to see it handled so well in addition to it's rarity. This is a very nice addition to anyone's reading list for fans of LitRPG or gamelit stories. I will be keeping an eye out for more by this author.

This was a fun read. This brought up the age old question. What is it to be "alive"? With that said, I'm not going to get too deep into it with this book because anything I say will be giving it away, but I will say that it does attack a problem with a well though out plot. The book was a fun read, and I really wished that there was some way that they could continue this book, but I don't see that happening. Also, with that said, there are a lot charismatic characters in this story as well as a villain that you will LOVE to hate. With all of that said, the only reason I didn't give this a 5 was that there were instances where the MC just went a *little* too far and whined too much. After all of that, this was a solid read. I would highly recommend this story.
This story was pretty good overall. The ending was pleasant but getting there was painful. The characters are in need of a large amount of depth and relatability. The plot also spends most of the beginning of the book jumping around randomly and only progressing in short bursts. I can't say I recommend reading it but if you want to spend the time it's not the worst overall.
I really liked this story. Honestly wasn't expecting much but the main character drew me in and it was a nice change of pace reading this type of story from a "npc" point of view.
This book was honestly better than I was expecting. It was well written, the storyline was good and easy to follow, and the characters were likeabke and well made. Its a good read and I would definently read it again.
An enjoyable twist on LITRPG with a compelling plot, great characterization, and some truly delicious moments NPC Revolution is a book I would highly recommend giving a try.
LitRpg is a silly genre. This novel indulges in that silliness completely.
Well written and incredibly well narrated, it's a fun addition to the genre. Although for me, the silliness if the premise went so far that I couldn't enjoy it fully.
A great story about an NPC trying to prove she is more than just a bot. Big battles, great adventures, interesting characters and an unusual magic system. I thought it could have gone a bit deeper into the developers history instead of just glossing over it, but otherwise a great story.
