About a year has passed since the final words of "Bending the Rules", and much has changed. Enjoy this quick peek into the lives of these beloved families to see what they've gained... and lost.
It was nice being able to catch up with The Wright clan and see what's going on with everyone. You get a peek into everyone's HEA two years later and they're all still living, in love, and happy with one another. This novella was just enough for me to see The Wrights are alright.
This was an absolutely cute and charming way to wrap up the series! Once again, Christina C Jones does a wonderful job with her character development as we explore what happens with each couple from the previous three books. While I won't delve into specifics because of spoilers, I will say that Jones does a great job building a sense of community and family amongst the characters. Readers root for their success and empathize with them through their most difficult moments. If you have read the first three books in the series but haven't picked up this one I highly recommend it. This novella serves as a smooth transition into the Love sisters series which I plan on reading next. Readers will not get a full glimpse of them as characters; however, there is enough to make a connection to the Wright family. There is a content warning for pregnancy loss as well as traumatic childbirth. I'm glad that I've been spending some quality time diving into Jones' books. They have been a breath of fresh air and this series is definitely no different.
This was a solid, creative, emotional book for only 70pages but Joseph and Imara at the very end, was the BEST ending I have ever read in a book thus far!! Moments. CCJ give you Precious Black Ass Moments!! And I love her for it!
THE WRIGHT FAMILY ARE NEAR AND DEAR TO MY HEART. The first books I’ve read of Christina C. Jones. It was amazing to jump in and see what they have all been up to. I was happy to see that they are doing well, and to see that The love is still prevailing thru the trials. CCJ managed to touch on pregnancy, childbirth and loss in this short and I am thankful for that! I am more excited for the few new characters that were dropped in this beautiful Holiday short because that means 2019 they are coming with their own book. I CANT WAIT. Happy reading!
I Love This Family….Especially, Big Joe & Jason…I think those two are my favorites. I was sad for Jason & Reese and then immediately became happy for them. Joey & Devyn added to their family, that was cool. I love that Justin was still spending time with his baby girl Bri….I really wasn’t a Toni fan…but, I’m happy for their new marriage and potentially adding to their family. This was a cute quick read to catch up with old favorites.
I've read the entire Wright Brothers series, but it's been awhile and I couldn't remember the characters that well. I've enjoyed what I've read from Christina C. Jones so far, and this Holiday romance was no exception!
This was a nice conclusion even though it felt incomplete for reasons that would be spoilery. I enjoyed seeing them all and their "next chapter" felt genuine but I wanted more. New characters were introduced to plug in a new series and that felt unnecessary and a waste of time when so much more was needed from the characters we already knew. This cannot be read without reading the previous three books. This series really read as one long book so I would really advise to read them in order.
The perfect, bittersweet yet hopeful postscript on this series. I absolutely loved it but there is off page tragedy that should be noted so I would check the content warnings.
This was a 2.5, rounded up to a 3. I really enjoy peeks into characters' HEAs, so this is my catnip and generally, I liked it - it was different in that it was kind of angsty and for a second there I was was annoyed thinking it was another continuity error but it wasn't so I'm not going to spoil it. Further to my last point and what made this a novella that was better than just OK was that I was completely distracted with the inexplicable fact that Devyn, who was an interning nurse practitioner in Pulling Doubles was now a practicing GYN. How did she manage to have a child, go to med school and establish a career in the 3 years since her story ended?
I don't really know what this was for. It's a little catch-up with the Wrights but seeing them all in the same place and even skipping between them really brings the focus on how identical all the brothers are.
I'm not usually one for Christmas stories, especially in April, but at this stage I'll read anything CCJ wants to put out. And this not only winds up the Wright Brothers but sets up The Love sisters (a series I've already read and loved) There's a CW for traumatic pregnancy and loss of a child here so if that's a no no for you, then you best to skip this, bit for those who can handle it, I highly recommend this. And anything else CCJ that you can get your hands on.
I’m reading these all the hell out of order and no one can stop me. This is a short epilogue for the Wright Brothers series and sets up the Love Sisters series.
I’m putting detailed content warnings under spoiler tags but this might be a really hard read if you have triggers related to pregnancy loss.
Loved this update on all the couples.. Big Joe is hilarious he said Grandpa ain’t on duty tonight, get them kids and go 🤣 Jason and Reese 🙏🏾🫶🏾🥰 Joseph and Devyn 🥰🫶🏾 Justin and Toni 🥰❤️ And they are cousins with the Love Sisters, the cross over was so clever. CCJ is a genius ❤️🫶🏾🥰. Is Joia going to see the video of Justin and Theodore “Teddy Graham” 😆🤷🏾♀️
This was the perfect little treat to check in on all the Wright brothers, their father and all their ladies and kiddos. Christmas presents being giving early, lots of love, emotions, and humor packed into this holiday novella. I have really enjoyed this entire series and the Wright family.
This was a good series Christina C Jones doesn't disappoint she is definitely one of my go-to authors if I want something spicy and fun and sexy she's definitely a book to pick up love the whole series
Okay, this was such a sweet catch up with the Wrights! I loved this alot. It's really great seeing what's going on with this family. There were sweet, funny and heart breaking moments. Not to mention that ending L O L.
As with everything CCJ writes, there was the light funny banter that always has me cackling. This was interlaced with some heavier moments, but I think the balance was handled pretty well.
I love me some Wright brothers and elated when I saw this was dropping. Reese and Jay are my favs, followed closely by Joey and Devyn. I hate what happened with Reese and Jay but so glad life keeps going. I can wait for the next update with the new family members.
In this novella, we get a glimpse into the lives of the Wright brothers and their significant others at the most joyous time of year! But even though much has stayed the same, so many things have changed. With a few thoughtful...and unexpected gifts, the holiday season turns out quite different than any of them could imagine.
I'm so appreciative of Jones' knack for saying so much in only so many words. Not always the fan of novellas, I find most authors fail to convey a full story. But not Jones! This was so hearty in content! I was able to catch up with Jay/Reese, Justin/Toni, and Joseph/Devyn. I loved how their lives were seamlessly intertwined which helped the chapters to flow and the storyline to progress. The air of gloom and not knowing exactly what had happened in the past with Reese was a nice touch of suspense. All conflicts, whether major or minor were resolved with a gift...literally, gifts! Ugh, absolute nostalgia reading this; made me wish I had read it Christmas eve to get the full effect of being in the same setting as the characters!
This book is the last of the Wright series. The perfect time of year, Christmas where the stories from the previous book rounds everything out to unfold the updates on every couple and situation from the series; family, pregnancy, relationships, marriage, etc. Although, Imara and Big Joe did not have their own story, but their story was blended in each book on how their relationship developed.
I am loving everything I have read from Christina C. Jones, her writing is amazing. Characters and story well developed, and it kept me engrossed throughout. CCJ’s books are hard to put down and easy to pick up. I will say that she has become one of my favorite authors and I am so looking forward to reading more of her books. CCJ gives a lot in her novellas, there is nothing lacking. I give this book a 4 Stars rating. I highly recommend the whole series.
Choice of Cast: Irvin Randle, model as Big Joe Wright, Sr. Lisa Raye as Professor Imara Bryant
This is a cosy christmas romance story about a WHOLE family. I (through my own fault of not actively searching them out) have very limited experience with black characters and actual realistic representation of these characters but when I say it felt like HOME? And I never wanted to leave?
There are several couples featured, so if you haven’t read the rest of the series (which are now all on my TBR to read!!) you may be slightly confused at first. But it was a blast anyway. It felt like reading about a real family, it was chaotic and crazy and I loved it.
There are lots of different characters, all with their own professions and personalities and relationships, along with infertility and miscarriage rep, and probably a dozen other things I haven’t seen yet cause I haven’t read the full series.
And also, just to add a sprinkle of goodness on top, there’s spice!! And it is spicing let me tell you that WHEW. Love love loved.
