Joan Fern Shaw was my mother Alice's cousin. Their mothers were sisters Schell, from Bruce County, Ontario. The cousins grew up together in Toronto during tough times. My adult daughter and I last saw cousin Joan in 1994 when she came to visit in Port Elgin. My daughter made an instant connection with cousin Joan. She is a fan of her books. This book is unique, to point, humourous in an odd way and almost truthful, while still being respectful. My grandmother, Helen had a signed copy but it is no where to be found. If Joan's family read this, please get in touch with me, if interested. TY. calliezw59@hotmail.com
Loved this book so much. Did not know this author even existed so makes it even more satisfying. Your heart ached for the protagonist yet it is hopeful in the end.
