Who gets rescued from drowning in a lake by a damn UNICORN?!This girl right here.No. I was not hallucinating.I was drowning.
It was like that scene from The Little Mermaid, where she rescues Eric and takes him to the shore, except I was in his shoes. When I finally open my eyes to see what I believe is the “other side,” I have my most profound realization
God is gorgeous.
Except it is not God, and I am not on the other side -technically.I learn his name is Renne, and that he is actually a Prince.
What a fairy tale!
No.
Something about this is just off.Something about this feels terribly wrong.First of all, I have a mark in my hand, from his hand.
Why is that?!
Second, he won’t stop staring at me.It is extremely distracting.
I confirm my suspicion when I intend to get back home, and he wouldn’t let me.
EXCUSE ME?!
Now I am convinced he is either a psychopath or there is something he is not telling me…
But which one is it?
I am not staying here to figure that out…Jesus, he is eyeing me again…
The Last Unicirim’s Bride is a stand-alone novel with an HFN.
Born and raised near Pacific Grove in California, where only about 15000 souls live, Hollie found her passion in writing since she was just nine. She would write odd short stories about fantastic beings or plays she would enact with her friends, where she was always captured by some sort of beast. In these stories, there was no Prince Charming, only dragons and werewolves that were both scary and fascinating.
As she grew older she dwelled into more adult topics. She learned about the fun and fire of steamy romance novels, where the peculiar traits of her favorite characters made them dangerously alluring, physically and psychologically. Today these characters are like people inside her head. They that won't leave her alone until she gives them life. And even though she is the only one writing, Fifty* is always there to assist with inspiration.
*Mom's girl. Probably the brattiest chihuahua ever.
This is a NA romance wearing a PNR cover. It’s honestly boring and the dialogue is rather juvenile. Not the writing but the dialogue. The whole idea of this book is cool just the execution left a lot to be desired.
It’s a slow ass burn, low key enemies to lovers trope. There’s one vague sex scene. It’s nothing to write home about in the least. So the romance is definitely not the focus. The insta-mating bond and my culture dictates we must marry is the focus. They don’t marry until the end of the book, I think is what was happening.
The story:
Human woman at a party gets abducted by a kelpie (horse fish thing) and drags her to a different realm. Maya meets Renne, the unicrimin (unicorn) BOOM they are a true mated pair. She spends the whole book bitching about wanting to go home and then finds a way home and decides she doesn’t want to go because I guess they are bonding? There’s a battle against dragons. The good guys win and Maya and Renne get hitched. His wedding gift to her is a waystone, a way for her to go home. She takes and says she’ll come back. THE JUST GOT MARRIED! Who does that? That’s it, that’s the book.
I will say Yvonne the witch is cool and is the only character that had life.

The title is what made me grab this book and I'm glad I did. Maya went to a party on the lake with a group of her college friends. Maya isn't the party type, she only went because Brandon said he would be there. When the night went by and Brandon didn't show up, Maya went to set on the dock by herself wishing she had stayed home. Maya was looking out at the water watching what looked like fireflies dance under the water when a hand grabbed her ankle and pulled her under. Renne is the oldest of 4 Unicirims. Renne is a Zorrin, so he is not a pureblood like his siblings. Renne just wants to find his bonded, win the war, and her their lands back. This takes place for in a time before electricity and plumbing, it feels like midevil times. I like the setting and the world building that went into it. I like the use of the many different paranormal species. I really like the originality of a unicirim.
Here's the thing about finding authors through ads - when you have a chance to pick up their books without getting a glimpse into their writing style, it's a huge leap of faith.
Honestly, I'm glad I took a chance on this book. It was fascinating in more ways than one, although it does remind me of the outlander series, but in a good way. I like the mix of old worlds and the modern one as well as the fantasy aspect. I'll be looking forward to the next instalment in this series.
I received this book as a gift as an advanced read copy and I would like to give an honest opinion of what I have read.
This book is so different from a lot of the other stories I have read about shifters and such. Such a great imagination this author has. I would tell anyone that they would really enjoy this one it so so compelling.
The story is starts as the Royal children are escaping the devastating invasion of dragons that are burning and killing people in the city. Beatrice is the nanny of the children, and Whitslaw is one of the Royal Guard that is to protect them along with another guard. The twins were still small infants and had yet to be named. The older Princes Renne the oldest and Collum were stand with them waiting by the shore to pick them up and take them to a safe place. Their parents were fighting the dragons but by all of the destruction it was obvious to the adults were that all was lost of the kingdom. Renne the oldest was considered a half blood or impure because he had Zornon blood. His father had gone to a different country and met and she died in childbirth and the King came home with his oldest son Renne. The King remarried and they had Callum and the twins later named Tara and Janus. People tended to look down on Renne because of his coloring he had dark hair, instead of the pure blood that had the golden blonde hair. His father had told him that he shouldn’t let peoples thoughts bother him, he was Royalty no matter. Those were the last words Renne heard from his father. The are a unique race. Only the Royalty could transform and called themselves. Unicrim. The transformed into large horses with wings, and a large horn in the center of their forehead.
Maya was out with some friends to celebrate their last days of college. She had text Brandon to ask if he was going to be there and he texted back tell her he would. She played some beer pong before everyone made her stop because she always won. It seemed that when ever she would aim to throw something she would always hit what she was aiming at. It got that people didn’t want to play games with her. She kept looking for Brandon as she was doing things with her friends. Finally it got late and her friends went to their hotel room, others put up tents around the lake that they were at. She was sitting on the pier looking at noticed on her phone seeing that Brandon had spent a boys night out. She was hurt that he didn’t even text her to tell her he wasn’t going to show up. She was dipping her toes into the lake and noticed some lights similar to fire flies coming towards her. She didn’t think anything about it until suddenly something grabbed her ankle and pulled her into the water and would not let her go. All she knew it that it had scales on it, and she was screaming for help.
Renne was grown man now they had a came set up to a city that was close to the one that the dragons had taken over. This on was occupied by those that aligned themselves with the dragons. General Witslaw would not let him participate in any of the battles because of the fact that he was reality. He was frustrated about how things were going they has some of the werewolves on their side but not enough the others were in favor of the dragons and those were the ones that were causing the fighting at this point as they were trying to take back this one city. He hear a screaming buy the water and saw the lights swimming close to the surface. He could make out the two forms pulling out a knife he jumped into the water stabbing the Kelpie and pulling out the girl who was Maya. He was telling her foolish she was that everyone knew about the lights of the Kelpies and to stay away from them because of they were so dangerous. Maya found herself in a totally different world when she came out of the water and didn’t know what to think. Renne sent her to Yvonne the witch to be her servant. It was Yvonne that told her that she had been pulled into a different realm. To Maya she felt as though she went back into time and was now in the medieval times. Yvonne sent her out to gather wood while out Maya saw Renne she went up to him to shake his had and to thank him for saving her. The moment that their hands touched there was a tingling sensation, and a strange glowing coming from their hands. Renne was shocked the said You!! It seems that they both now had a white scar like circle in their palms meaning that they were bonded mates. However it was not anything that Renne had thought it would be. They were not in love with each other they had just met. And to be frank he was kind of scared about all of it. The thing is that a bonded pair is a very rare thing so rare that there is not that much information about it other than when they are bonded the two become powerful enough with magic to be able to defeat the dragons. Only Maya didn’t even know she had magic, and now she was bonded to a stranger in a strange world that is at war with such things as dragons and werewolves. So much to take in all she wanted to do was to go home.
Will Maya get her wish and be able to go back home? Or will Renne and her be able to form the bond in a way that is is suppose to be and just maybe help the people. They are putting so much on Maya’s shoulders was she going to get spooked?
You see this is why you need to read this book is so different from what I have read in the past. Two individuals that a caught up in something that they would rather not be but have no other choice or do they.
I honestly wish I could rate this 1.5 stars. I felt this story was an utter waste of my time after I finished it.
The grammar is strange, I understand how the sentences are constructed in a medieval sense during Renne's chapters but Maya's chapters also feel the same. Especially her first chapter which annoys me since she is modern day America.
I liked the idea of a therianthrope (shapeshifter) Pegasus/Unicorn hybrid (alicorn for those MLP fans) but it was presented poorly.
Romantically, Maya goes from one minute not liking Renne at all to not being able to be parted from him which I understand was during a story time progression but it felt fake and unbelievable. Not to mention the end of the story didn't feel like any sort of ending at all. It didn't feel like a cliffhanger or like it had any closure whatsoever.
Also, I absolutely hate when a cover misrepresents a character. Maya is not blonde as the cover represents she is a chestnut brunette. Please don't use a blonde to represent a character who isn't! It's exceptionally annoying.
Nice idea, just poorly executed. I don't know about ya'll, but this was my first venture into the realm of "unicirim". After getting over the initial giggles of this man turning into a pegasus with a horn, I got really into the concept. As this book was under 200 pages (and I knew this going in), I didn't expect there to be much in the way of world building or character development. Dare I say there was too much, especially given the amount of the book it takes. It made for the ending to be rushed and rather underwhelming. Needless to say my initial excitement over some actual content (and not just sex) was quickly dashed when I realized the author was running out of time to give it a proper send off. So here I am, disappointed about what could have been a really excellent book turning into something mediocre. Plus, the characters weren't really doing it for me, despite the fact we get to see their evolution just a bit.
Intriguing story about a unicorn that flies and a human turn witch
Renee is a unicirim, that is a flying unicorn shifter who meets a human girl new to the realm. She is so new that she doesn't know anything about the where she is currently occupying. She discovers with Renee that she is magical and a witch. She can shoot any kind of arrows flaming, ice arrow, arcane, and lightning from an empty bow.
The characters are unusual, captivating and relatable in their uncertain emotional impact to each other. The description of the scenario and scenery are vivid and realistic. This is a short story that does not end in a cliffhanger but I certainly wouldn't mind reading continuation of this story. I thoroughly enjoyed this captivating and intriguing story. Highly recommended.
1.5 stars. The first chapter or so of the book was promising (the bit that you could sample from Amazon before it makes to purchase it).. I didn’t expect an amazing literary experience, but I was pleasantly surprised that the writing had a little more quality to it than I would have expected. I was excited that I had seemingly stumbled on my next “good read”. But then I downloaded the rest of the book and found that the author quickly dumped the idea of putting any effort into her writing. It was crap. It had the skeleton of a good story, but that’s where any positive feedback from me ends. Oh, that and the fact that it was included in my Amazon Unlimited subscription, so I didn’t have to waste any money on it. That was a good thing too.
The Last Unicirim's Bride will be the first in series as it ends with a cliff hanger. The story line is unique and the world building is great. Maya, a human college student, is pulled into another realm which is at war. There are dragons, witches, werewolves, unicirims, and magic in this world. The author has created interesting characters even though one in particular, Prince Renne is a jerk. The storyline flows along at a good pace. I was pulled into the story at page one and kept turning pages until the last. This book is unique enough and the characters are relatable, that I am looking forward to the next in series. Received a copy from Booksprout and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Oh boy, was this bad. That plot was so slow. And it was one of those times where you're saying to the protagonist "What? Why would you say/do that??".
«Spoiler»
I mean you met the guy a week ago, avoided him the entire time, then slept with him on the first date. That's just stupid. Also, just before she did the deed, she thought it might hurt since it was her first time. But then throughout the scene there was no mention of discomfort. Not even a note that there was none, and that's just plain old bad writing.
And, as someone who rides horses I though sexual attraction to a unicorn was just wrong. This was a waste of my time. If I get bored and wonder how it ends, I might finish it. Or look up the answer if the bad plot and writing technique bored me to abandonment again.
I loved the world Ms. Hutchins created! This was a fresh take on unicorn , excuse me unicrim lore. When our heroine is pulled into the waters during a college party, and saved by a prince who alerts her she's in a "kingdom", things get a little weird. Discovering magic is real, and she's part of a mated pair which can turn the tide of a war they've been waging for 'years is a lot to swallow. The couple has their ups and downs. I appreciated the way Ms. H handled it, but in the end I wanted more time for relationship development, and I felt the story ended abruptly. That being said, I believe this may be a series, so .... perhaps she's got more in store later.
So, this got attention solely because the FB comments were gold. And honestly... A few of those comments were better than this at times. Its well written in some areas and dry and rushed in others. I do love the concept but by the end of the book was left on a hanger that could have been better. Is there going to be a tie in somewhere? If read that just to see the war finish and see River End and see where the Unicirim and Dragons go. As to the love scenes... I could have gotten more from a skinimax film. Or maybe some FB comments.
Unicrimin is the term to describe Prince Renne and his half siblings as they escape slaughter in their kingdom. The dragons have come to take. As the story unfolds for human Maya and her talent for accuracy, and he real story has a little twist. Nothing dramatic but the true reason why the dragons invaded. Unpleasantly teleported to Renne’s realm Maya learns there is more to life than studies, parties and friends. Priorities and values come to light as Maya finds her purpose.

Another fantastic book by Hollie Hutchins. Here we have a different fantasy book where College Student Maya is at an end of year celebration when her life changes in a split of a second where she's pulled into the lake & then saved by Renee a Prince from Albalon a different realm where there's mystical shifters & dragons. They then find that they belong together even though they're from different worlds & we see & find out how & why they're fitted together...
The Last Unicirim's Bride. This story had me going. I enjoyed the story. Maya went on a fantasy journey that she couldn't wake up from. She adventures to a land far from home that teaches her so much about herself and about love. She builds a relationship with a prince that she doesn't want to lose if she goes back home. It ends with the idea of maybe putting more to the story. A good read! So Callum's story is second and the shadow witches is third. This is the first and because they were not numbered I read them in opposite order. With this, I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. Maya and Renne do eventually have a closer relationship and you can see it's still growing. But they both have moments where they come across as selfish and inconsiderate - of each other, of family and friends, etc. It was still a good book, but the next two were much better.
The author vividly describes the lives and emotions of displaced royals after their town was destroyed by dragons. These four royals have an amazing secret that would make their lives even more periless if it were to be known by all, especially the dragons. This was a very difficult book to put down as it was very fast paced and I felt like I would miss something if I were to put it down. If you want a book filled with fantastical beings, war, and of course romance, this is the read for you!

Four and a half stars. I found this book quite interesting and not at all what I was expecting. I always enjoy romances that are not the trite formula and this one qualifies. Will Maya accept the bond with Renne? Wonderfully written and complex characters seem to be the norm for Ms. Hutchins. Definitely a worthwhile read.

Never would have thought to buy this book but I did on a whim. Glad for it since it turned out to be a really good read. Unicorns and dragons and a single woman dragged into another rhelm to battle it out. No spoilers here but the only down side I had was the ending. Is there a 2nd to follow the story on? Kinda leaves yea hanging so I'll be watching to see.
Fast paced and interesting story from the start. Wasn't sure how to pronounce the lead males name...until I decided it rhymed with Penne in my mind. I liked the character development as well as their slow burn relationship. I'm hoping for more books about Abalon now, I find the world and characters fascinating. My only complaint is the story ended too soon, and would love to see a flash forward to Maya seeing her family and going back.
This books is about Maya who is pretty much a no body she likes a guy more than her likes her.. feeling sorry for herself leads her to be pulled into a fantasy land where stuff just get weird... she gets told shes bonded with someone and now she has to decide weather to stay or to go back home... I thought this books was great and would really like to another book to see what happens next

The story itself was okay. Could use some more backstory in my opinion. The book was a good connection between all characters but felt it could have been explored a little better. Still a hea though and a good storyline. Would recommend. I would be interested to see a continuation series of the siblings
This was a great book to read. I found myself being pulled in from the beginning not expecting the story to flow the way it did but pleasantly surprised anyway. This story of different realms and shifters was a new take on the paranormal world and left me wanting more. I can’t wait for the next in the series.

There are enough punctuation errors and awkward sentences that it didn't read like a final edited story. There are at least 3 more unicirim so the title doesn't work. There are still unresolved issues at the end, but it's mostly happy. While imaginative, I don't think I will read more from this author right now.
You find yourself in a strange place were their are dragons wear wolf and flying horses you think you are dreaming, but not in this story all of this becomes real for a young woman tha was taken from this time only to end up in a parallel universe, to find love and war to also bring peace
I didn’t like this book as much as I’d hoped. I’m really into the mate bond that a lot of the shifter books have, but this one deviated a lot from those. There was no instant attraction or love after the mark appeared. The main characters seemed to hate each other for, like, half the book, and then (after slamming her into a door) there’s lust.

He wasn’t actually the last Unicirim. And while the book had great world building and character growth, it needed tighter editing. That would have taken this good read to a great one. This story garnered enough interest in Me to want to see more...despite the high number of grammatical errors.
It was decent I suppose. Not sure if this was written before the alien and Jess’s book or after, but it reads and feels like it was written before it. So it was kinda “meh” and not great but not bad. I’ll check out other books by this author if they’re on kindle unlimited but I doubt I’ll buy any.
Good 👍book, it's filled with action, the chemistry between the characters is wonderful. Maya insists she needs to find her way home not to be mated. I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
The book was entertaining and enjoyable. I would have love to see the attractions between Maya and Renne from the moment they met. I loved the story line and I hope there is a sequel based on the ending.
