When It Rains is part of the Potter's House series but is a standalone as are all of the books in the series. This is an emotional book that deals with hard issues that are all too common in this day and time. Hannah and her daughter, Kayla, are reeling after finding out that their husband and father
is living a double life with another family in Florida. He choose the other family, divorced Hannah and left. When Kayla and her boyfriend, Matt, announced to Hannah that they were pregnant, she made the decision to take a job she was considering. She and Hannah moved from Flagstaff, Arizona to a small town in Washington state. Hannah was to be the caretaker of an elderly man, Mac, on his property and live in the guesthouse. His son, Luke, hired Hannah but Mac isn't happy about it. He doesn't want help and doesn't feel that he needs it. Hannah is dealing with unhappiness all around--Kayla is unhappy to be leaving Matt and her friends, Mac is a bitter man after the loss of his wife and she is still dealing with the hurt from her husband's abandonment. One of the first people that she meets is Pastor Charlie and his wife Serenah from the Diamond Lake series. Hannah and Kayla start attending services and making friends at their church. God has a plan in everything that has happened. His ways are not our ways and He can make good out of a bad situation. Mac wasn't a great father to Luke and his brother Victor but he now has a second chance at being a positive role model to Kayla. This is a sweet story of redemption, love, faith and moving on that shows that no matter what bad our situation, God doesn't abandon us when others do. There is even a time for romance again.
I received a copy of the book from the author and the opinions stated are mine only.

First, I want to thank TK Chapin for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

When It Rains by T.K. Chapin is a standalone book that is part of the Potter House Series of various authors. T.K. Chapin fans get your box of tissues ready because you will need it for the extremely powerful, moving and tearful ending he has in store for you. A bond between two people I did not see coming and the amazing thing he gave up for her. Just incredible and mind blowing to me.

This story had difficult issues subjects like teen pregnancy, single mother, divorce, separation,
infidelity, death, scary bears, etc.

If you have read the Diamond Lake Series then you recognize Pastor Charlie and his sweet wife Serenah. They make a few small appearances in this book.

Plus, with all of T.K’s books he stays true to his form with his faith.

If I had to say so myself, this is probably my favorite book that I’ve read this year and I even inspired me to go and look at every other book this author has written. The story made me laugh hysterically and cry many tears. I cannot even put into words how beautiful this story truly was you just need to read it yourself to realize the depth power and beauty of God‘s love for each and everyone of us

Hannah Montgomery moves west to ranch after the breakup of her marriage. She loves living on the ranch and fixing up the old house. She hires occasional help to run the ranch. Finally she realizes she needs full time help

Along comes Luke Williams, who has a dying father and wants a job so that he can be close to his father. He has a past reputation. He used to be a winning bull rider. He was injured and later worked rodeos when he could no longer ride. he had horses scattered all over the area. Part of the deal he would bring his horses and they would do trail rides and teaching people to ride horses.

The problem was Hannah had a history of being hurt in her marriage, and she had a hard time trusting men. Could Luke overcome that hostility and make a good partner on her ranch.

Read the book to find the interesting ending of the story. A great story and well wriwtten.

When it rains

I really loved the story of Hannah and Luke. Hannah is hired to take care of Mac who is Luke’s father. Her daughter is a teenager and pregnant. I so much loved the character of Mac, an grumpy old man but he just has everyone fooled. This book really touched my heart. So inspirational.

The Potter’s House series is a 21 book series written by different authors. The books are stand-alone books, only linked by theme, so they can be read in any order.

Hannah’s world was turned upside down; the day she discovered her husband had been living a double life and had another whole family. To make matters worse, two years after her divorce, her sixteen year old daughter, Kayla, dropped another bombshell…she was pregnant! She was devastated because Kayla was her responsibility and how could she have let it happen? Hannah blamed herself because she took time to focus on her healing after her divorce.

After learning of Kayla’s pregnancy, Hannah made the decision to move her away from Flagstaff, Arizona and her boyfriend. Both of them needed a new start and Eastern Washington would give them the chance to do just that.

Luke’s father needed a caregiver. When Hannah told him she would take the job, he felt nothing but relief, except…his father was not an easy man to care for. They had already been through several caregivers…hopefully Hannah would be different. He needed a break.

Neither Hannah nor Luke had any intentions of falling in love, but…God had other plans.

Although their lives were filled with many trials, they found healing in the solitude of the ranch in Eastern Washington, along with God’s grace. Through their days of despair, with God, they found hope, healing and forgiveness.

Hannah’s efforts to show Luke’s father her Christian attitude; helped him find joy in God once more.

Hannah and Kayla’s story will break your heart, so have the tissues ready…but it will also make you smile and once you have read the last page, you will walk away with a renewed hope in Christ. It is amazing how God can take something devastating and use it for His glory!

Hannah finds herself in a difficult spot. She has been abandoned by her husband and has just learned that Kayla, her sixteen-year-old daughter, is pregnant. She is dealing with a situation that mirrors the proverbial “when it rains, it pours”. After finding a new job opportunity that includes housing, she decides a move is in order. Uprooting her daughter from her school and friends to move over a thousand miles away is almost devastating to her daughter. I could see this heading in several different directions: the daughter grows bitter and runs away, the father who abandoned them tries to insert himself back into the picture and causes untold stress and strife for everyone, or the boyfriend decides to follow and attempts to draw Kayla away from her mother. If you want to know what really happened, you need to read the story. Somehow it seems that each of the major characters learned some valuable life lessons as the story unfolded. I enjoy the ongoing role that Charlie and Serenah play in almost every novel written by the author over the past couple of years. Although they are not major characters, they have a vital part in the story. I would classify this as a contemporary romance but it has a strong faith element woven through from beginning to end. I received a copy of the book from the author. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.

Hannah's husband left her and Kayla for his other family and now Kayla is pregnant and only 16. Overwhelmed with what to do, she follows God's leading and moves to Washington to take care of Mac. Mac is a bitter old man who lost his wife to cancer and hates God. She's hired by Luke, Mac's son, to care for his father who doesn't agree he needs help. Hannah believes good has brought her to Washington for a purpose. Could that be to remind Mac of God's love? Luke and Hannah are attracted to each other but distrust and past experiences get in the way. As time passes, Mac and Kayla grow closer as he imparts wisdom and live to the fatherless girl. Luke and Hannah question if God is bringing them together. Then tragedy strikes and life once again changes and clarifies.

This book was written in such a way that the reader feels intimately connected with the characters and storyline. I appreciated how the characters relied on God but were also real. If they were mad at Him or frustrated or questioned Him, it was okay to admit it. We are human and we question. This author wrote of God's love from a realistic and personal point of view. The Christian life isn't perfect. It's messy. This book is a great read. I strongly recommend it.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I have read several books by TK Chapin and have not been disappointed yet

Author T.K. Chapin is never afraid to write about hard issues, and this story is no different. Abandonment, fear, teen pregnancy, and natural disasters; it’s all here but done so tastefully that it won’t offend.

The characters in When It Rains are extremely well developed and you will fall in love with them. If you’ve read any of Chapin’s Diamond Lake series you’ll even revisit with some old friends.

Through it all, we are pointed to God as our Healer and our Source. He always wants what’s best for us and it’s always more than we expected. Forgiveness is woven throughout the story, as is our need for a Savior. We can always depend on this author to tell us the truth in a loving manner. If you’re looking for a clean, sweet read, that isn’t sappy then I highly recommend this book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

This is my first TK Chapin novel that I have read. It was an ARC and I am writing this voluntarily because I enjoyed reading it.
I was most impressed with the approach of TK Chapin’s writing. First of all he doesn’t hold back by showing a picture perfect world, there are warts and all, just like a normal person’s reality.
It is all about four main characters. Hannah, Luke and Kayla suffered deception and rejection from someone who should have been there for them. Mac suffered loss of a dear wife. Yet though it all TK Chapin presents how the Lord has a better plan for us by using the circumstances of these four characters lives as they interact with each other - forgiving and eventually healing.
A clean inspirational read. I will read novels again by this author.

Strong Christian Fiction Focusing on Faith

This is the story of Hannah, a single parent and Kayla, her pregnant 16 year old that love from Flagstaff, AZ to care for Mac,an elderly dying man.
Kayla and Mac form a bond that helps heal a rift in two families.
Hannah also finds romance and a second chance at love.
This story is about faith and this passage brings this together.
" I firmly believe that faith in God can only work when we find the end in ourselves. "
This book has an absorbing storyline with fascinating characters.
I recommend this book for those that love Christian fiction with a strong inspirational message.

A spell-binding book, with emotional appeal, and surprises throughout the story!
Hannah feels like her life is out of control due to recent circumstances. She decides to take a job she had been considering, after a “final blow” occurs and tells her daughter they are moving to a ranch in Wyoming. She is determined to keep the job, even when the person she is hired to help, acts like he doesn’t need someone to “take care of him.” This is an exceptionally well-written book; and I recommend it, highly.

T.K. Chapin has a way of writing that the reader feels a connection to the characters in such a personal way. In this book, it can be in several ways...experiencing the heartache and distrust of divorce, teen pregnancy, or the changes and heartaches of facing one’s aging parent’s mortality. The uniqueness in the writing might be found in other authors’ works, but the way he weaves the word of God through scripture and relevance into his stories is a true talent and calling.

Absolutely wonderful. I find T.K.'s books to be a wonderful spiritual adventure. He pulls no punches regarding the sinfulness of his characters, but there is so much change and healing in their lives in the story. He does so without sleazy details or vulgar language. I always find that nugget I need to hear for myself, too. Reliance on God and sharing the good news are top priorities. Highly recommend.

Hannah has been cheated on, abandoned by her husband, divorced, and now her 16 year old daughter is pregnant. Oh my how much more can she take? Determined to make a fresh start she and Kayla move out of state. Enter Luke and his dad Mac, who Hannah will be the caretaker of. I loved grumpy Mac!!!!! I did wish Luke had finalized his situation before he asked Hannah out. A really good story about trusting in the Lord and His providence.

Hannah and Kayla have had a hard life. When Hannah decided to move to work for Luke her life will change. Watching Kayla change Mac will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. You will feel God working throughout this whole book. I had the honor to review this book for the author for a honest review. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.” Isaiah 55:8
I had conflicting feelings after finishing the book…but it really made me think here. It deals with some hard issues like teen pregnancy, unfaithfulness, fear, unforgiveness, etc. However, it reveals faith, redemption, and mercy! I hope “When It Rains” can help people to see how God can work in their lives regardless of the circumstances.

Don’t mess with Betsy!!

This was a heart wrenching story that brought me to tears in the end. Sometimes parents have to make the hard decisions to protect their children. Hannah did what was best for her daughter Kayla after being told if the news. In turn, Kayla found a father figure in Mac, and Hannah found love with his son Luke. I really enjoyed reading one of Chapin’s books and can’t wait to pick up another one.

Redeemed!
Taking back all that the world and Satan took, this group found a better footing in Christ. Mac was always a believer, but the loss of his wife made him angry with God for years. His son Luke and a new caretaker Hannah have bad relationships in the past that color their impressions going forward. But the catalyst turns out to be teenage pregnant Kayla who finds God again in her relationship with Mac. I’ll let you catch the rest. Good book, a good God focus.

Not long enough

Even though it was short there was so much pathos packed in it that my emotions ranged from sadness to frustration and to joy. It is a clean romance that starts off with people carrying hurts from the past that looks like the relationships will be sabotaged ....but God. A great read as usual from an amazing author.

Two words, one phrase that can change a life

This is a book about second chances that changed multiple lives. I didn't care for the writing style, with the chapters bouncing first-person characters back and forth. This is the first book that I have read by this author, so I don't know if this is the way he normally writes his books.

An Uplifting Addition to the Potter's House Series

This was a very uplifting story and I felt God's presence on the pages as I was reading. This was my first book by Mr. Chapin and I thought it was excellent. There was a lot of emotional baggage that was addressed in a very positive way. I would highly recommend this book of you like Christian Romance & fiction.
