Alec’s mother wants her son to settle down and marry, and since Loretta doesn’t require love as part of the transaction, Mrs. Talbot believes that the schoolteacher would be the ideal wife for her son. Is there room for love in a marriage that’s designed for convenience?
Sometimes life does not turn out like you want and that was the case with Loretta Mullins. She lost her parents young and ended up being a school teacher in Dalton, Wyoming. It did not take her long to realize she wasn't fond of her profession and boarding at the home of the Dr and his wife's made life even more miserable. Becoming friends with Mrs Talbot was fated it seemed, because her son Alec was returning home with his young daughter after his travels. Then when she overhears Alec's mother suggest he should marry her, Loretta thought maybe that was a fine idea. But could she survive a loveless marriage to the rich and worldly Alec? A sweet tale that kept me entertained to the end. Read to find out what happen's and I know you will enjoy this story until the end!
I received a free book for an honest review. I liked the book. It wasn’t one of my favorites but I am happy with the fact that it was a clean book without being overly religious. I liked that I didn’t have to worry about poor language or love scenes. It was a good story about Loretta and her finding a new life. I liked Alec as well. But I would have liked to see a lot more development between the two of them. The story focused more on who Loretta is and why she wanted a change in her life. This is a stand alone book although it did have characters from her other two books in this series. Bethany Rose is a new author to me. I didn’t read the first two books. But I don’t think I missed anything by not reading the other two first. Although it did make me interested to know more about the other characters stories and why choose to be mail order brides.
School Teacher meets wealthy business man who has just returned from Europe!
School Teacher helps an elderly woman who lives especially alone. Son of elderly woman returns home with his young daughter and meets school teacher. He is attracted to school teacher and proposes marriage. His daughter and mother are both delighted.
Storyline was nice, but it went at a snails pace then all of a sudden would skip ahead weeks at a time. Editor needs to read this book again and fix grammar, spelling, and switched names. I felt like a detective at times trying to figure out who was speaking. Sad and disappointed because the story had so much potential.
A likable clean romantic story. A marriage of convenience. Probably why there isn't enough interaction and emotion between her and him. I enjoyed it otherwise. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
Thoroughly enjoyed this story about a young woman trapped in living and working conditions due to a character's false pride. The story moves fast but smoothly with well-written characters. Loved the granny and the little girl.
Loretta isn't happy as a school marm, but what else can she do? The thought of becoming a mail order bride seems possible, but would mean leaving the town and friends she has grown to love. But how else can she marry and finally have a home of her own?
This is the kind of mail order bride story that takes your breathe away! The poor sheltered school teacher and the rich gentleman! wonderfully written and entertaining!
Found it very difficult to follow the story at times. Typos, improper punctuation and grammar, very-difficult-to-believe plot, skipping over the most important part of the novel (the process of two people falling in love), this book has got it all. Doesn't feel like a romance novel at all. But, it's a good read if you're just looking for a portal to another world. The story's got potential, no doubt about it. But, it still requires a lot of work.
