Fortunate: Orphan Series Book One
I'm nobody's Cinderella.
Because I learned at a young age that fairy tales aren't real. And there's no such thing as a Prince Charming waiting to save you, at least not for a girl like me. So, I learned to save myself and everyone else I loved. And I would've been satisfied with that life. My Introduction To This Author
This book is my introduction to this author & I couldn’t put this book down. From the moment Dominick & Evangeline met, I was hooked. Ev has been through a lot of things in her like so new people & attachment are not things she allows for herself. Their relationship took time & I enjoyed the pacing of this love affair. Dominick see her, he doesn’t know her story but he wants to—he wants to be the one to love her. I love that Dominick was so intentional about his pursuit of Ev. & even though Ev took longer to show it she was just as enamored with Dominick. It’s possible to be strong & vulnerable, to help yourself & accept help. They had to learn that loving someone doesn’t always mean you will get everything right but communicating through it all is crucial. The accountability between this couple was so refreshing.
Dominick is premium book boyfriend material. I highly recommend with beautiful Black sport Romance.

WOW….Nick Was The Man
This was my first book from this author and I must say that I truly enjoyed getting to know these characters….Ev & Nick…Nick is a franchisee player of a Major League Baseball Team and Evangeline is a waitress at a gentleman’s club….the couple meet, become friends, fall in love…but you know there’s some unresolved issues that must be dealt with first. I love the relationship Ev cultivate organically with Nick’s personal assistant/cousin Roxy….Ev really found out what true friendship was from that relationship….Nick’s family also took her in and accepted her (although, we really didn’t hear from his brother & his family or his sister)…Really Good Story.

Four. Seven Stars Fortunate (4.7)
The story was rock my world amazing. The author told a fabulous story with a complex theme and great storytelling. Ev and Dom have us a truly wonderful thing of beauty. I could not believe this story would be so good. Each character was developed, and the writing was excellent. A few typos and grammar issues did not hurt the story. It was funny, charming and quite entertaining. I'm ready for book two...

Another new author alert with great potential. Interesting story with great characters but very poor editing. The lack of editing distracted from the story. There are also some plot holes among the characters that aren't resolved or explained. Overall I give this story 3.5 stars.

This was my first read by this author. In the beginning, the build of the hero meeting the heroine kept me intrigued, but after them actually engaging, it seems like the plot began to drag. The drama was lackluster and the actual conflict wasn't climatic.
I think I wasn't able to get into Nick and Ev because of the way the author wrote; Monroe would constantly mention the characters' names, especially when in dialogue with each other. It's easy to tell who was talking to whom in a scene without the constant mentioning of names which irritated me to no end. And there was soooo much dialogue to the point I wanted to skip over it.
I only take long to read when I don't want a book to end or when it's just hard to get through. This was sadly the latter.

New author and I'm happy about it.
This was a great read. I'm glad that I took a chance on this author. Well written and great story line. Chemistry and a plausible storyline. Dominick and Evangeline are a flawed couple but through persistence and really good sub characters that help them get on track. Evangeline is no damsel but she has lost the ability to live for herself. Dominick is the man to open up her eyes. However sometimes a knight and shining armor maybe too much for Evangeline. Can't wait for the next book by this author. Really good book. Bravo

What girl doesn’t love a Princess Tiana love story?! I’m now looking for a Nick!! Overall, this is a well written story with lots of laughs and feel good moments. The storyline and characters where very relatable and realistic. There are some parts of the story that left me with unanswered questions, but seeing that this is part of a series I’m sure those questions will get answered. This was a really nice debut and I look forward to reading more from the author.

Love Unapologetically
This was an excellent read but who am I kidding Ms. DandridgE never misses for me! The way Dominik loved on Ev even through her brokenness and scared past plus the needed to always be the fixer, sheesh it’s love that every girl dreams of and desires. Even when he tried to be what she needed and even though he overstepped he was there to make it right in the end.

Abso-freaking-lutely Loved it!
So let's start by saying typos/wrong grammar in a book makes me cringe, I hate it! This book had more than a few of those, but let me tell you, I abso-freaking-lutely loved this book! It was so good. The story and the characters drew me in almost from the start. I saw the little errors but I was so enamored by the story and Prim and Nick that I didn't waste time stewing over them. This book was awesome!

I have me a new book bae! Dominick aka Nik. MLB star Nik is everything Evangeline aka Evie aka Prim as Nik would call her. When his team was celebrating their win into the World Series playoff where Evie was waiting tables he got a look at his Prim and Proper Evie and he drew him right in.
Evie past is not the best but she is a woman who wants and needs to get everything on her own. A definition of “grind”. But Nik is saying let me be that person for you baby. Nik is baeeeee!! The first book to the orphan series and I’m truly invested now!

Let me start by saying that Nick captured me from the start of the book. I knew he was going to be the type of hero that you dream about. “Prim” was the underdog that you prayed would win in the end. I loved that Nick was the type of man she needed to heal the old wounds. This book had it all, great leads, awesome supporting characters, and a good story line.
This is my first read by this author and I definitely want more!

LOVED IT
He was famous she wasn't, but together they found a simmering love.Loved me some Prim and Nicky. Roxy was a complete cut up. Midas and Nicks other friends and family added depth to the story.

Good read!

Where is my Dominick?
I really enjoyed this book, it had me up until the early morning. I will say that the book could have used a good bit of editing, which is why I gave it four stars.
But I really loved Dominick and how he love Ev. He was that fine line of Alpha and sweet and if I wasn’t already married I would be looking for my very own Nick.

I enjoyed Nicky & Prim’s story 🥰 this was a refreshing story. Dominick knew almost immediately that he wanted Ev and made every effort to make it happen. I love a strong FMC and Ev was the perfect example: independent and determined despite a not-so great background. 🤎

Do you see me? I see you and I want to be everything you need. This sums up what this book is all about, IMHO, despite circumstances, trials and tribulations. Meeting that One and trying to accept them just as they are, from day 1…its half the battle and the rest a journey in finding love and acceptance. I adored how Ev and Nick did just that and evolved to one of my fav couples I have ever read about. It also was refreshing to not have so much happening that it leaves the reader to guess, wrong or right, the character’s motivation and intent. I literally was invested in their story and was saying, ‘Awwww’, through their sexy, their fights and counseling sessions with friends and fam! (Special shout out to Roxy and Nick’s Dad) I freaking love this book and I was very thrilled to find that a few of the secondary characters have their own stories! I was rooting for Ev with bells ringing and Nick was a Chef’s kiss! I swoon!

Evangeline and Dominick, what a power couple. I truly loved this book. I am very surprised as I normally don't like sports romances, but I thoroughly enjoyed every moment. The use of the slang did become a little excessive at one point, but it did not tarnish the book at all. Two main characters from different backgrounds that weren't so different out a smile on my face. I wonder what the 2nd book has to expand on the overall storyline.

This was a really good love story...Nick is pretty high up on the book bae list, he was such a sweetheart. I enjoyed his and Ev’s banter.
This story was very well written and flowed well, there were a few areas that needed editing, but beyond that It’s definitely a must read.

I want a Nick. I want to be Ev and find me a Nick. Nick loved her so unapologetically it was a beautiful thing to see. Two Black people just loving one another whole-heartedly. We need to make things like this the norm: a fine, non cheating man down for his lady.

This was a good read even with the drama. I like how the characters grew through their mistakes. The book ended with plenty of love and stronger relationships.

I re-read this and can I say Nick and Eve are one of my favourite couples ever! I love Nick soooo much! What a man and I really liked Eve’s character. Such a good love story🥺

This was really sweet.
Now this was a sweet one. I love how much Nick loved Evangeline. He literally wanted to go a mile and then some to make sure that she was good. Though he did miss the ball with kind of overstepping and taking charge when she's not used to that he totally made up for it. And I miss avengeline when I tell you she was getting on my nerves but it's because I understood her too well, Though her upbringing was harsh and mine wasn't we are literally the same people I definitely find it hard to relinquish Control of things and I Don't Like to Feel like people are giving me handouts, Although she irked my nerve it was mostly because I definitely understood her character. She didn't particularly know what it was to be loved after everything that happened and for someone to just give her that love and devotion unconditionally was just something she'd never been able to experience so it was scary. But the way she allowed Nick to break through her many walls was beautiful. I absolutely enjoyed this book💜

This book was recommended in a FB group that I am in when someone asked about Sports Romance books. This is a book about a MLB player Dominick & Evangeline a Cocktail server. I loved this book! It was very good pacing of the main characters. Dominick sees "Prim" as he calls her while he's out with his team, and he is stumbling over himself while talking to her. After that night he can't stop thinking about her and and little does he know she's feeling him too! Once he finds that out he starts to pursue her...and I loved everything about it! He didn't let up! He didn't pressure her for sex! He was practicing celibacy with his team, and they weren't supposed to have sex until after they won the World Series, so he truly pursued he the old fashioned way!
Evangeline had a hard background and even with that Dominick gave her his word of being there for her and he absolutely was! She was carrying a lot but you couldn't help but love her too!
