Bear shifter, Matthew, just bought his mate at a charity auction. Okay, so what he actually bought was an afternoon of pet pampering—he doesn’t own a pet. Maybe he could pamper her instead? Only he’s the bad guy, who came to town to destroy the animal shelter, so he could build luxury houses on the land. Yes, he is the Christmas villain. But he intends to change. For Sian.
Sian is done with men. Her soon-to-be-ex-husband, Peter, was a bully who never appreciated the wonderful family he was part of but won’t sign the divorce papers and hand over the money he owes her. To make things worse, he arrived in town to embarrass her at the charity auction she’d helped arrange. But then a Christmas miracle happened. Matthew Lewis, a billionaire property tycoon, paid a small fortune for an afternoon with her. Okay, so what he actually bought was an afternoon of pet pampering—but she knows he doesn’t have a pet. So maybe she could pamper him instead?
Wait! Matthew is the bad guy in town. Sian has sworn off men for life. And she has two daughters who must come first. But he’s a bear shifter and they mate for life. Can she risk her heart on a man again? Is it possible they might all get their wish and get a Second Chance Christmas in Bear Creek?
Harmony Raines loves to write romance filled with magic and love. Her men are usually not so alpha, but they know how to treat their fated mates, or alien lovers well.

Just my way of saying thank you for giving my books a try.
A softer shifter story, featuring a slightly older couple— one is in their 40s, the other seems to be late 30s. Cute read with a holiday adjacent theme.
Bear shifter, Matthew, came to town to buy land and make luxury houses, much to the concern of the locales like Sian. But when Matthew catches sight of Sian, his plans and focus completely change. Sian is his fated mate and he is determined to do everything he can to make sure she is happy.
Sian came to Bear Creek with her two daughters for her fresh start. Her soon to be ex-husband and crappy father to her daughters continues to make her life difficult, so romance is the last thing on her mind, that is until she crosses paths with Matthew.
I liked the fact that the hero in this was on the mature side when it came to age, Matthew is 40, don't think we are ever given Sian's age, but thinking mid to late 30s.
The soon to be ex-hubby is a complete ass.
This was a sweet and fluffy shifter romance. Easy on the mind.
Having been prepared for this book since the ending of Animal Rescue Bear I was excited to see it finally going live. I jumped on it as soon as I could.
Matthew was trying to buy the land where the Pet Shelter was located and the night of the charity auction that the people running the place put in motion to save it, he finds his mate. Not only that, she's trying to save the shelter that he's trying to destroy.
Sian is at the charity auction to get money so they can save the pet shelter. She offers a grooming session for animals and shifters alike, what she wasn't expecting was to be "bought" at the auction for the same man that they were trying to stop from destroying their beloved shelter. Not only that, he says she's his mate.
The preparation for this story was so well done that I was waiting at the edge of my sit to get my hands on this book. It seriously shows how the author can make a great intro using the ending of another book. This has happened before with Harmony Raines book, at least that I remember, and I love it.
Something I love is when the villain of one book turns to be the "hero" or main character in another book, especially in romance novels. The guy doesn't have to become a saint but a little explanation and showing the love he has for his woman is enough for me. In this case, it made me smile because he was kind of rejecting the idea but changed because he didn't want to lose her.
I would never get tired of recommending Harmony Raines books. The more she writes, the more I enjoy them. I saw her slow evolution and I still think she can work miracles when I have a reading slump :D
We first met Matthew and Sian back in Ronni and Lucas’ romance in Animal Rescue Bear in the Return to Bear Creek series. I know that it’s asking a lot to suggest reading a series, or a chain of connected series from the very beginning if you’ve just begun at this point. I get it, I do. Yet, I would suggest that if you can go pick up Animal Rescue Bear for that story first introduces Matthew and Sian… and there is a wealth of information, and emotions on how this couple has gotten to the night of the auction that will change their lives.
Matthew made quite a first impression when he arrived in Bear Creek… and it certainly wasn’t a good one. Yet those plans were put in motion before he’d met any of the people, shifters of Bear Creek. Or knew that his mate was here in this small town, directly involved in those plans. He suspected his mate was near, he knew for certain the night of the auction when they first spoke. Now he’s done something completely out of character for him, he’s bid on a service his mate has in this auction and especially after the rude, insulting first bid by her ex his… substantially larger bid will ensure the future of the Animal Shelter, and nix his plans for good. Matthew is about to begin his lessons in being a Good Guy, his sarcastic bear is delighted and doesn’t hesitate to send a few digs through their communications… but the reality is they’ve found their mate and from this moment on he is a changed man. Now he simply has to convince a human woman who has been taught to not trust any man by her jerk of an almost ex-husband that he can be trusted with her future and her daughters’ as well. Life just got interesting for Matthew and Sian in Bear Creek.
It was such a charming and fun journey to watch Matthew discover how to set aside his past and change the way he saw and dealt with the world. It was also, at times, heartbreaking to watch Sian second guess her own feelings due to one jerk of an almost ex-husband. Together this couple simply worked. Despite their differences, their pasts, and even their present, it’s obvious that they fit so well together. I loved Rachel and Ella, Sian’s daughters, who realistically question Matthew’s reasons and learn a few secrets about their new hometown. I had fun with this story, and if you love shifter Romance, Paranormal Romance or simply a second chance at love story… then you’ll want to put The Bear BUys A Bride on your need to read list. I’m already keeping an eye out for the next story in this series, The Wolf Wants A Wife.

I really enjoyed reading this wonderful second-chance Christmas bear shifter romance, it is a satisfying love story about a rich bear shifter (Matthew) who is determined to buy the land where an animal shelter is on, but soon discovers at a charity auction for the animal shelter that a woman (Sian) is his fated mate, now he wants to show her that that not every male is bad & he is determined to claim her & her daughters. The story-line is interesting and well written with intriguing plot. The characters are well-developed, they react with varying emotions to the situation they find themselves in & have a variety of individual traits. There is: various kinds of shifters, a apparently villainous billionaire bear shifter (Matthew), a human female (Sian) & her two teenage daughters (Rachel & Elle), a despicable soon to be ex-husband (Peter), a caring friend (Ronni), drama, some intrigue, some deviousness, memories, attractions, determination, inner bear sarcasm, complications, distrust, fear, plans, destiny, confidence, determination, honesty, conversations, verbal banter, emotional feelings, confrontations, anticipation, explanations, realization, shock, amazement, trust, happiness, passion, love & some steam. I would highly recommend this bear shifter romance to people who enjoy reading this genre. I sincerely doubt you would be disappointed in this book.
Matthew is the big bad man that really isn't bad.. he finally found his mate Sian when he wants to buy the land she has the animal shelter on.. but instead he buys a pet pampering from her that helps save the shelter and show her ex husband he can't embarrass her. But these two have great chemisrty and do have a tiny push pull (Sian) plus she has 2 teenage kids.. i enjoyed how they were as a family.. and how they handled their mom redating and shifters.. good decent book..
Low in angst, no ow drama but we did have Sian ex husband try some things, no cheating some secondary chara and some sex scenes..
I really liked this book. I loved the connection between Matthew and Sian. I loved seeing the change in Matthew and it’s understandable that he was the way he was before he met his mate Sian after having no one and never having a home and the only home he did have way with an ab*sive uncle who only took him in after his parents d*ed as he came with a substantial amount of money, which Matthew never saw any of it as by the time he’d reached maturity his uncle had spent it all so Matthew never wanted to be beholden to anyone about money ever again and since he had no one the making money became his happy place. I can’t believe what an a*sehole Sian’s ex-husband Peter is and not wanting Rachel and Ellie and was holding the money he owed Sian in the divorce until the girls left home so then him and Sian could be together and then trying to basically sell them all to Matthew saying that if he gave Peter all his money he could have Sian and the girls in return what a do*che. I’m glad Matthew put him in his place. I loved how much Matthew cared about Sian, Rachel and Ellie, he’s the partners and dad that they should’ve had from the start and I’m glad that after everything they’ve been through with Peter that they found a forever home with Matthew and that he’ll love and support them as well as never leave no matter what happens as shifters mate for life, and the girls are a part of Sian and to shifters children are everything no matter if they aren’t theirs biologically. I loved seeing Matthew grow and how learnt empathy and enjoyed helping others and started to understand that helping others made him feel happy. I’m looking forward to reading Simon’s book next. I’d recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.
He never learned to relate to others or care about them only how to make money from them, but he's a silver haired shifter who never met his mate. Now he's blown away because suddenly he wants to make her happy regardless of his prior plans! She had an emotional abuser for a husband who made life unreal for her and their two teen daughters and he's still dragging things out with the divorce so she doesn't ever want to get into a relationship again, especially with the man who wants to destroy the animal shelter just to make a profit. But she's learned about shifters and their fated mated from her friends, and this awful but attractive man has her in a tailspin. Nothing is ever easy in relationships, and this one is no exception. But this is Bear Creek, so hang in there and get to the Happy Ever After! Loved it!
And what a great story about second chances. Matthew was the bad guy for most of Animal Rescue Bear until the very end of the story. I won't tell you what happened, but if you haven't read that story already, you need to before reading this one. I loved how Matthew is with Siah and her girls. You could really feel him striving for a second chance.
With a fast pace, an upbeat tone, a character oriented storyline with some steamy scenes and vivid characters who make you root for them, this is a great book.to read. I knew I shouldn't have started this late at night, but I couldn't wait. Then I had to stay up even later to finish it. Thank goodness I have tomorrow off and don't have to get up at 5 am! If you are new to Bear Creek, read at least the one before this. If not, sit back and enjoy!
Surprise the right place at the wrong time gives a new spin - wrong time or fated circumstances?
Mathew makes his billions negotiating cut throat business. Business was his only focus. He has his eight on land - take out the hse, the animal shelter and build shifter vacation homes it's just perfect. Sian thinks this guy is awesome until she finds out he is the reason they have to find all the money soon or the shelter is gone. She has an auction fund raiser to hopefully get enough money so her boss can by the shelter. Wish has two teenage daughters Rachel and Ella and they are pretty awesome - I know you will want to compare your children of adopt them.lol the love changes things - is 100% correct in this story - just love it.

When developer Matthew Lewis came to Bear Creek, it was to buy land and build fancy, expensive houses, what he bought was a date with his fated mate.
He was known as a hard, ruthless, heartless businessman, until he set eyes on Sian, his fated mate, at the very auction he wanted to foil. If the auction raised the money to buy the land under the Animal Sanctuary, then his buying the house next to it was wasted. He hated losing, then he saw her lot being offered, and her estranged husband offered one dollar, just to embarrass her, and the next words out of his mouth were "two , two hundred thousand,..." and with that one bid he saved the Sanctuary, but will he win the woman he knows is his mate? Even her two children are watching this one, save the marriage, or marry the saviour? What will it be?
I enjoyed this book. I would have liked to have had the house finished. I was a bit disappointed in that. I imagine there will be another story with the wedding I hope and the house being completed. I do not like when stories are left with parts hanging. That is not enough of a reason to not give it a good rating. That is my personal preference. You might want to know some issues are left unfinished. It was a sweet story with a couple of girls who will get a man who adores them and maybe their dad as well. I'd like a story with Hamish in it. I have a feeling he is quite a character. You can teach an old bear new tricks all it takes is love and a purpose.
Bear Creek is always a fun town to visit with. The residents are always so genuine. Matthew, Siam, Rachel and Ella are no different. Moving to Bear Creek to start over amidst a divorce has now single mother Sian (great name by the way) learning how to not only stand on her own for the sake of her children, but how to accept help when needed. Bear shifter Matthew has no heart. He is a ruthless real estate developer that only has one thing on his mind, making money. Throw in the mating bond and both their lives are turned upside down. It was also great to revisit with Ronnie and Lucas from a previous book.
One of My favorite tropes is stories about redemption.Matthew Lewis starts out as a greedy real estate developer determined to destroy the Bear Creek Animal Shelter. Then he sees Sian, his mate, and his whole world shifts. He needs to be worthy of having her as his mate. Sian knows nothing about shifters. She just wants to start a new life with her daughters. How is Matthew going to convince Sian that he's not the jerk who wanted to destroy her dreams?
This is a terrific story about the power of love and second chances. It's full of neighbors who are there for others through the good times and the bad. Happy reading!
A Hallmark-style romantic Christmas story on steroids. With some sex. And with nothing bad happening (in fact sometimes it feels like nothing is happening at all, only the same discussions about how he changed and how she needs more time over and over until she doesn't need more time anymore). It's so fluffy, even when shifters shift they do so in a cloud of glitter. There not much of a substance or quality to this, but I can't give it less stars because that would be mean, and you can't be mean to something like this. ... except I'm going to break that rule right away and say one mean thing: the covers lack taste.
I will be honest here, I almost put this down in the beginning cause I didn't like Matthew. I'm glad I kept reading, cause he sure improved & stole the story in the end. Sian was an ok character, I felt she was a bit wishy-washy at times. It does have the insta-love or mate-bond thing going on, which a lot of readers might object to. I did like that Sian being human questioned the mate-bond thing at first. I did feel like I missed a previous story or prequel to this, not enough to hurt the enjoyment of the story, but enough to make me wonder in a few places what I was missing. I enjoyed this enough to want to read book 2.
I love these wonderful Bear Creek stories. The characters are some of my favorites, so I love how they make cameos or how their stories overlap. Sian, Ella and Rachel's story is special because we all know single Moms trying to make a go of it on their own without allowing hard times to affect the kids. Mathew doesn't know love or what it's like to be a family. However that doesn't stop him from jumping in to be a loving mate and stepfather to two teenage girls. I look forward to hearing more about them.
.Matthew is an extremely successful real estate mogul who wants the land the animal shelter sits on. Asian has left her husband an emotional battered, and com t o Bear Creek with her teenage daughters to begin a new life. She organizes an auction to buy the land for the shelter where she works. Peter comes to the auction to embarrass and manipulate Sian. Matthew walks in and discovers she is his mate. He then donates a large amount that will save the shelter. It is a lovely story, and it is delightful to be back in Bear Creek.
Absolutely clever story. Sian is trying to start her life over with her two daughters. Her soon to be ex is driving her nuts by withholding funds he is supposed to pay, and a millionaire is trying to buy the land the animal shelter is located, and she was to build her grooming business. At a fund-raiser for the shelter Sian's ex tries to embarrass her by bidding low, but she had met the handsome Matthew Lewis moments earlier, and much to his surprise, he runs the bid up and saves the animal shelter. He's the millionaire and he and his bear have just met their mate.
This is a sweet second chance shifter romance. I liked Sian and her daughters a lot from the beginning. It took me a while to believe that Matthew had changed enough to deserve them, but he did change -- and I liked the new Matthew. I did think it would have taken Sian a little longer to trust Matthew, especially considering what her awful ex put her through.
I just love the older couple/second chance romances. They are always so heart warming and sweet and this is no different. This is a true Christmas story. You have a man who didn't know how to love find what the true meaning of love and compassion is and a women who had lost faith in love find a way to open her heart again. This a wonderful shifter romance and worth the read.
Sweet and enjoyable read with very likeable characters. This is the start of a new series but is a follow on story from ANIMAL RESCUE BEAR. A wonderful and sweet tale of one very powerful and ruthless man becoming a better person purely due to meeting his mate. Disliked the ex-husband. What a douch bag. I was kindly given a copy by the author but read it though KU. This is my honest review of this book.
Matthew is a tough, rich, hard hearted bear shifter. But when he finds his true mate, Sian, and her two daughters, all bets are off. A heart felt tale of a man turning his life around for true love. His sarcastic and comedic bear self conscious is a great addition to his transition. Add in the craven, almost ex husband of Sian and you have the expected winning story of Bear Creek shifters to enjoy.
I absolutely loved this story. Matthew the heartless property developer who never fails to get what he wants no matter the cost. Sian, a Maher of 2 daughters going through a messy divorce who just wants a simple life trying to help save the local rescue centre that Matthew is trying to buy and tear down. I really enjoy watching the changes love can make in someone’s life. The story was so well written.
