After Lexi and her friends escape the Compound where they lived for twelve years, they have to face the harsh elements of the outside, human survivors and factions of Tins, but who can they trust? Is Digit hiding something? Fans of Terminator, Divergent, Blade Runner, Hunger Games, iRobot, Robot stories and apocalyptic stories will enjoy this. "This is book two that takes off right where book one ended. The group is on the run after escaping and you almost feel like you are actually there. Well written and the story moves along with a good flow." "This series is quickly growing on me! There are several places in this book where I had to stop and remind myself it was just a book!" "I really enjoyed this second book. It was a very fast & exciting read, with plot twists at every turn. I also came to really love Lexi and her friends and even some new acquaintances! " "Again, I have to say it's crazy how real your stories feel and this one put a movie in my head and made me feel I was there with the characters."
Electric Grids starts off strong with action and danger at every turn. Lexi and her friends have escaped captivity from the Electric Gardens and now are on the run. What they encounter out in the ruined world will only strengthen Lexi's need to fight against the Tins and the world they rule.
I really enjoyed this second book. It was a very fast & exciting read, with plot twists at every turn. I also came to really love Lexi and her friends and even some new acquaintances! And the end!! Well, I just really, really hope everyone comes out alive! I would recommend this series to any sci-fi dystopian readers.
Electric Grids is the second book in the Electric World series.
I voluntarily received and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
After finally escaping the Electric Gardens, Lexi and her friends find a post-apocalyptic world on the outside of the Tins’ compound. They don’t have time to stop and admire the wasteland because they are being pursued by the Tins. With a Tin of their own, they have a destination in mind, to find the other enlightened Tins and band together.
Electric Grids jumps in right where Electric Gardens left off and pulls the reader immediately back into the sci-fi universe Black has created.
The idea behind the story was solid and intriguing. The concept of robots taking over the world is not new, but the details in Electric Grids come from fresh sci-fi eyes.
A lot of details are left out or glossed over and the writing style does a lot of telling versus showing. For instance, the birth of baby Seth happens nearly instantaneously and without sensory details one would expect with the birth of a baby in the middle of nowhere with limited medical supplies and no doctor.
Again, I have to say it's crazy how real your stories feel and this one put a movie in my head and made me feel I was there with the characters. And I love the twists and turns you threw in, I truly wasn't expecting that. I seriously can't wait for more.
This is such a great series! After learning about the Compound and Electric Gardens in book 1, it was ineresting to see what was left of the outside world. I can't wait for the next book!
