A New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author, Penelope Sky is known for her dark romance that makes you fall for her characters….no matter how dark they seem. Her books are being translated into several languages around the world, and she’s sold more than a million books worldwide. She lives in a small town in California with her husband, where she spends most of her time writing on the back porch.
My least favorite in the series and not too happy about the ending.
All the things I loved about books one and two got watered down. And it felt like despite saying how she loved him for him, she spent the majority of this book trying to change him, making everything a lesson, and attempting to lead him around by his dick.
Q: His lats were perfect, like two walls that hugged his spine. Only a man committed to physical perfection could look like that. (c) No, wait, I thought walls also looked like that! Q: He kept his package manicured... (c) So, obviously, one manicures the itty bits as well! Isn't that ballicure, though? Q: He comes off as a violent psychopath, but he’s just—... I’m not justifying his behavior. But that’s how he feels. (c) Hah-hah!
Sienna did a total 180° from how she was is book 1 and how she was in book 3. She just became a washed out version of herself and her constant 'ultimatums' were annoying.
I would have ignored all that and given it an average 3star rating but then that mid book crisis happened. Sienna's 'punishment'. Beyond disgusted. Especially how they constantly brushed Bates's problematic psychopathic behavior under the rug. Calling it 'his love' for his brother? You got punished for loving your father and he gets a pass? Double standards, much?
A few things I want to address and I don't know how to do it so I'll just make it in points.
Please be aware that there will be some spoilers down below
1. That stunt. That fucking stunt. We all know what stunt I'm talking about. What the fuck? After everything, Cato still put his pride and ego over anything else. I thought he loved her? Are you claiming that you love someone but still able to scared her to death (literally, I might add)? Dude, what the fuck? In the end it went back to a sick power-play game. He chose his pride over his feelings. Enough said.
2. And even more annoying, Siena's anger only last a chapter, and it's not a very long chapter either. What the fuck? I expected more from her. I expected more groveling from Cato. I expected him to literally beg on his fucking knees. But no, of course not. A few sweet words and she forgave him. Moral of the story: don't fall in love, it makes you stupid
3. Should we address how easily it is for Damien and the gang to kidnap Cato? Yes? Why didn't they just do it in book 1 then? Why did they need to send Siena in the first fucking place? It's so easy it's like taking a candy from a baby. If they had done this before Siena, I guarantee they would succeed and get everything they need, since there's no Siena to make the trade.
4. Speaking of the trade, how could it be so easy for Siena to save Cato? I feel embarrassed for Damien. Is he really that stupid? He let go of Cato, the fucking boss, the top of the foodchain, just to have a taste of Siena, literally nobody except a woman Cato is fucking. I know there's a deal about how Cato will try to save her blablabla, but I expect Damien to be smarter than that. He's second in command, yes? He should be smart and think with his brain instead of his dick. But no, of course he had to taste Siena because she's just so irresistible. Blah.
5. Can I also address how easy it is for Siena to kill Damien and get out of the safehouse? Again, I feel embarrassed for Micah and the gang. First, when Siena cut Damien's dick and he screamed, weren't there guards to hear it? No? And second, why is Damien only sitting there screaming and did nothing? He's not chained, his arms and legs are free. He could easily kick Siena and overpowered her. But no. Of course he just sat there and scream like a kid and didn't make any struggle when Siena cover him with a pillow and suffocate him. How stupid is this Damien dude?
6. And I am so disappointed at how Cato finally said I love you. After all of the buildup, I expected much bigger gesture than that. I expected him to pour his feelings out and lay his heart down for Siena. I expected long ass confession. I expected sweet talks and romantic words. I expected more.
7. Siena is not the same woman I love in book 1. She transformed into a nagging housewife with all her whining and ultimatum. She lost all her original characterization, and just blend into the crowd of bland heroines that only care about love and live in a bubble of rainbow. Honestly I think she's very selfish for demanding Cato to quit his business. Is it weird that I expected her to actually help Cato with his business? I mean, she's strong and brave, or at least she used to be.
8. And can someone tell me why is Crow suddenly getting all familiar with Siena? Calling her and checking up on her and even giving her relationship advice? They haven’t spoke in a year, they’re not that close. And now suddenly he cared for Siena and tried to explain Cato’s behavior? Even trying to talk to Cato and telling his life story to him? What the fuck? Since when did Siena and Cato’s relationship become public’s business? From the way she asked Crow to talk to Cato and the way she dropped the bomb that she’s pregnant again…almost seems like she’s manipulating him to quit his business and choose her and the children. It made her look pathetic.
Honestly I'm so tired with this book that I just skimmed the last 2 chapters because it's just mindless talking and I don't really care anymore what happened to them.
I nearly cried while reading this book and I rarely ever cry while reading. But this book was such a freaking emotional rollercoaster that I was about to explode from all the overwhelming emotions.
At one point, my heart damn nearly stopped.
Then, I was filled with murderous rage towards the hero's brother. I was on my way to inflict some serious harm to him.
Later, he redeemed himself so he was back in my good graces.
All I want to say is that I LOVED THIS BOOK and Penelope Sky has me hooked.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Omg sienna got on my nerves with this book, she just kept taking and taking and taking. She knew good and damn well what Cato was, for her to ask him to give up what he worked for was selfish. She got on my nerves! So tired of women in these stories being weak as hell. She left him , I would have told her see you! Did not like her at all in the end of this book
The title has nothing to do with the character of Cato, seeing how he has evolved in the third book. Siena seems to be a conflicted character. Although she hates money and she longs for a simple life, when she moved out of Cato’s mansion she missed all the luxuries she used to have. Her way of demanding things was annoying. Overall, The Tyrrant didn’t have the expectancy nor the power to captivate me.
this series was good... I won't say "great" cause at certain points I found myself skimming a bit, yet the very fact that the final, 3rd book changed the portrayals of the main characters, presenting them somewhat in exchanged outlets...they were captivating enough for me to get a full closure with their HEA, no matter how fictionally idealistic it looked *wink wink*
WOW! What a riveting conclusion! The plot, the writing and the passion between Cato and Siena are just hot! I thoroughly enjoyed this series and can't wait to read more from this author.
I just couldn’t with this book. I started out liking Siena and Cato, but now I can’t stand them and I don’t care how their story ends. Cato turned into a spineless wimp. He does whatever Siena says. It was so completely out of character. I wonder if Siena was the ‘Tyrant’ in the story because every other page she had some kind of demand and is always trying to change Cato. And for someone who didn’t care about his money she sure liked spending it.
I had real hope for this series, but it was really disappointing. Just like the Buttons and Lace series it had potential, but no follow through. It’s considered dark and I didn’t find anything dark about it. Waste of time....
Great series Cato went from a bored billionaire banker, playboy, ruthless, crime lord to a I found the woman of my dreams and I am willing to do anything to keep her in a monogamy relationship, lover, traitor, prisoner, lover, can't live without soul mate which has proven her loyalty over n over, however now she want me to prove mine with our family and I am not sure I can part with the only thing that was given me the sense of being the most powerful man in Italy & my identity. I will be just a normal person. How can I live like that, I can't
I really enjoyed the first two books in the trilogy although they had their faults. This book took things too far. Several things that happened were beyond ridiculous. Others were absolutely infuriating. Somehow by the end everyone came to care for each other despite the horrible shit they'd done to each other. Sienna was obnoxious by the end. She forgave people when they didn't deserve it. She was always demanding things from Cato without ever compromising. I understood where she was coming from, but it was unrealistic and she went about it in a bitchy way. Cato went too soft for my liking. It pissed me off that he couldn't be loved for the man he was. I felt like what he did was more than compromising; it was giving up his identity. He went from being a man who always gets what he wants to being a man who gets walked over. Although this book disappointed me, I liked the series enough that I want to read more of the author's work.
Oh my god. Siena's character got progressively more annoying throughout the entire series but this time she was almost unbearable. She whined about everything and pushed to have everything her way and when it didn't happen she just left instead of having an adult conversation. She also forgave Bates far too easily- I mean the man fucking shot you- and then decided that she was going to go hunt the guy who abducted Cato 4 weeks after giving birth and a few weeks after being shot? Not happening..
I ended up mostly skimming through the rest of this book, to be honest.
What a load of crap. Why is the book called tyrant if he is a piece of s*it, constantly under Siena's shoe? She is alwsys bossing him around and he is like: this is so hot. Wtf? Is he really a mobster? Again, wtf did I just waste time on?
It’s not often, in a trilogy, that the third book rates better than the first. But this one did! 🤌🏻 I loved the development of the FMC & MMC. She was tough and stood for what she wanted and he melted for her! 🥰
Yea ,play romance, even dark , yea nope. Spoiler alert, but, you might want to read it anyway. So his brother, who is past any anti hero ever so please don't write a book about him , has convinced him to wait till she has the baby and then bring her out in front of his men and pretend to execute her for her " crimes" . Well trust me if my husband ,even if we weren't married, ever did that to me ...its OVER. Then and there . No thoughts ,no if, no buts no nothing ..just completely over. But of course his brother shoots her anyway . You know to teach her a lesson and make sure everybody knows how little she means ....grazed her head ...did I say over ??? I mean O V E R . And he like oh baby we are even and all ,ill kill brother for you but you deserved me putting gun to your head and everything..... O V E R. And he'd know it when I totally poisoned his food when he didn't expect it and have his brother over for dinner on same night .O V E R. But noooo writer has her forgive him ..with little to nothing on his part .Oh baby we even now ..now we can just forget it and finally live our lives with you never leaving the house and be my prisoner that loves me even tho you won't be safe or even.feel safe cause I put gun to head but yea you love me and we even.... I'm sorry but that was sick . Understand what she did to begin with but she didn't go through with it even thinking her farther was gonna be killed .I was already getting sick of her ill stay cause deep down I know you love me and ain't gonna kill me once baby is born, lets not talk about if she wasn't pregnant he'd put bullet between her eyes to be gain with. Then every day tell her he's killing her after baby born but will let her hold it ..how generous. She runs away... omg another betrayal ...yea, duh ,you gonna kill her and raise baby with the bloodless soul you are. Even though his mother did not raise those two that way .... Sorry was having trouble with her attitude to him and his response but I was just horrified with the forgiveness .what can I say? I'm that kind of girl ,the kind that her daddy taught her he's got to sleep sometime.....💀 I hope these two characters die in car crash ,his brother gets lobotomy and ends up drooling on himself for like 80 more years and the grandma gets the kid .😍
I may change my review after I finish reading it but it really is titled correctly.
Book 1 is about Cato Book 2 is about Cato And the titles reflect that Book 3 - well Siena is definitely the Tyrant. She makes him constantly “promise” not to do this that or the other. Sorry but someone needs to tell her to just shut it. She’s a spoiled brat and she acts like it this entire book. Unfortunately book 1 & 2 explicitly portrayed her very very different.
The other thing that bothered me about this book was the timeline...she’s less than 5 months pregnant and showing...she’s getting SO big. Nope, not at 5 months. Then she’s 8 months pregnant and she has morning sickness every morning. Nope, not at 8 months. There were just too many things in this book that didn’t work for me.
Hopefully this book comes around but so far it’s a no go for me.
It did get better in the beginning middle section. Then she went back to being a tyrant. Cato asked her to marry him and she refused ~unless ~ he changed. I think Cato should just walk away. I took the second star away. This is less than a 1 Star book. How is he the alpha, that he is portrayed to be if Siena constantly controls him? If she ALWAYS walks all over him. She hasn’t changed at all. He accepted her flaws and all. Nope not a romance book. This is an emotional abuse book.
A must read for anyone who has read the previous installments. Does provide closure for the series.
Personally, I wish the ending had been different but understand and acknowledge, for the characters themselves, it does provide the best outcome scenario for them.
I like how the series concluded. This is a runner up for The Skull King Trilogy. I love how strong heroine is Siena and from being a hard man Cato fell in love with the hero. Their chemistry is off chart. Sizzling hot 🔥. Penelope Sky always know how to deliver steamy scenes with touch of class. 😊
When I started reading I couldn't put it down.Penelope Sky is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can't wait for the next book.Cato and Siena are amazing characters, I can't believe this the end of Banker series.
The Tyrant has to be my favorite book by far. This book had me from the first page and I couldn't stop reading it until I literally finished it. There was so much raw emotion and she makes you feel so many different feelings, it's crazy. I highly recommend The Tyrant by Penelope Sky.
