The Looking-Glass Curse #2

Wrathful Wonderland

Rate this book
Four ways to piss off the Queen of Hearts:

1. Have a name that sounds kind of like Alice.
2. Change the decor in her favorite club.
3. Destroy the magic she's used to hold Wonderland in her cruel grasp.
4. Fail to offer your head in penance.

I didn't come to this bizarre, intoxicating place looking for trouble, but I've sure as hell found it. As the Queen retaliates viciously against the Spades' rebellion, it's up to me and the three alluring men I've allied with to save Wonderland before so many innocents lose their heads.

Easier said than done. With Hatter tapping into his inner Mad, Chess pulling a vanishing act, and the White Knight revealing secrets darker than I could have imagined, everything I counted on here has turned upside down. When the swords come out, will I even be able to save myself?

*Wrathful Wonderland is the second book in a medium-burn reverse harem series that reimagines Alice in Wonderland. If you love spirited heroines, hot men with secrets to spare, and worlds full of unexpected delights and horrors, step through the looking-glass today!*

I think I just literally forgot the time. I was reading and reading and I had the impression it wasn't even that late. I didn't need to go to the toilet, I wasn't thirsty, I wasn't hungry even though it was way past dinner time already. I had really forgotten the time. I was existing in my own little bubble, without a sound, without time, without space. Just me, a good book and Wonderland.

This Wonderland might not be as crazy and magical and weird as some other versions of it, but it's an interesting world. The people living here are interesting, the politics are interesting, all the players on the chessboard (haha) are interesting and the dynamics and plot twists are just constantly keeping me on the tips of my toes.

Of course, there were things I saw coming and could guess, but I always see that as a good thing. Chase managed to seed things, managed to foreshadow certain reveals, managed to build everything up carefully. Nothing came out of literally nowhere. And I like that. It shows some planning skills and to me it equals good story telling. And it's the careful build up combined with the complicated and interesting political situation that made me love this book so much.

And the characters. Lyssa is an amazing leading lady. She's a lot like me in a lot of ways, but she doesn't back down and she is willing to sacrifice things for Wonderland and its people. And her three guys are just as amazing. I fall in love with Theo more and more with each page, despite his flaws. When it comes to Chess it was love at first sight and it keeps on growing. And then there's Hatter, who's not really my type, but is such a wonderful character so I end up loving him anyway.

I can't wait to dive into the last book of this trilogy!

Now that Alicia knows her calling, will she be able to help the others?
The story continues with Alicia finding out what her true calling in life is.
And of course more fun with the guys!!
Really enjoy such an adult take on one of my childhood faves.

With Lyssa stuck in Wonderland until she can find a safe looking-glass home, there's no way to avoid the daily bloodshed and fear-mongering that the Queen and her guards are bringing to the people of Wonderland. One thing is clear: heads will roll until the Spades surrender themselves, and the Alice is brought to face the Queen's "mercy".

Wrathful Wonderland answers a lot of the questions that were plaguing me since finishing book one. Why is Lyssa so special? Why does the Queen fear the "Alices" so much? What is Theo hiding? Chase finds creative answers to each of these and more. As is usually the case, I found that I was very surprised by some of the answers and less so by others. However, it's undeniable that the answers make sense, and there's a great foundation that makes them fit smoothly, believably into the story. I might not have expected it, but I'm totally sold.

We're also getting some relationship and character development- while Lyssa continues at a steady pace, and I feel like her character doesn't change as much, the men in her lives get more fleshed out.

Chess, Hatter, and Theo all have demons lurking within them. They're men who have grown, lived, and loved in a world full of magic and whimsy, but that doesn't spare them from having their own inner darkness. We get these little tastes of the regrets and secrets that they each hold, and the dots start to connect, explaining their actions and choices. Why isn't the Cheshire Cat as whimsical as you'd think he'd be? Why isn't the Hatter quite so mad? Is the White Knight truly Gray instead?

While I can see how die-hard Alice fans might be disappointed that Chase's versions of the men aren't totally the archetypes they've come to know, expect, and love, I still like her renditions of the characters. I like a little more darkness than whimsy, and her broken, scarred men are interesting to me.

Overall, Wrathful Wonderland really moves the story-line forward. The book goes out with a bang, and there's sure to be much drama and adventure ahead.

Note: I received this book from the author and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion.

Wrathful in Wonderland is the second book in the Looking Glass Curse reverse harem series and I loved it! I liked this book so much better than the first. I don't know if it's because I got use to the Wonderland craziness or if the fact that I am use to the characters and a deeper connection has formed or what but I loved every minute of this book.

Lyssa's stuck in Wonderland and the fight is far from over. Lyssa gets to see more of Wonderland's magic but also more of its dangers when she goes on a quest to help the Spades stop the Red Queen's reign of terror. The question becomes will Lyssa be able to help save the day or is she going to lose her head.

The characters have reveal so much this time around and have change from the first book. Lyssa is becoming more courageous and is becoming a part of Wonderland. She is willing to take crazy risks to help others and is standing up for herself a lot more this time around. But I also like the fact that through this process she hasn't lost her caring and protective nature, she is still true to herself but more.

As for the three love interests, my, my, have things change. Since they still have their own chapters I got to know them even better this time around and things have change from the first book. Each revealed a new side of himself, Chess is a little bit broken, Hatter is always guilty and Theo is hiding things. A lot of things were revealed about the guys and at moments I wondered if I really still liked one of them at all, he had me questioning everything. No one is perfect and everyone has their faults, so overall I like the way they care for Lyssa, how the guide her and support her.

The plot for Wrathful in Wonderland was a lot better this time around. Our group goes on an epic quest that is fraught with adventure, mystery and danger. They go to the wildness of Wonderland and I got a better impression of the magic of Wonderland than I had the first time, I also got an even greater sense about how dangerous/crazy the Queen of Hearts really is. Through out this book little clues have been dropped and I had a lot of my questions answered (some of my theories were right) but there were also a couple of shocking plot twists as well.

Now that I have finished Wrathful in Wonderland I have even more questions about what will happen in the next book, this one ended on a cliffhanger and I have know idea how the Spades are going to get out of the bind they find themselves in but I am ready to find out.

4.5!!
such an amazing and underrated read, genuinely so so so good. and chapter 16😭😭Chess is genuinely the love of my life. but Lyssa! It’s so difficult to write a likeable main character but Lyssa is one of the few protagonists that has warmed my heart more than the love interests and side characters. She’s the perfect balance of adorable, hilarious and feisty and her character is written incredibly well. It’s crazy too because usually writers try to make the main character funny and it ends up coming across as embarrassing and obnoxious, but Lyssa’s humour is so deadpan in a subtle way and i’m in love with it. The way she treated Chess in chapter 16 as well, it made so much sense as to why she has 3 characters falling in love with her. A top tier character!!

ALSO the plot twists???? amazing!! i won’t spoil anything but i was reeling like i enjoyed every moment of reading this

The only reason it’s not a 5 stars is because i still only really feel connected to Chess as a love interest (although the last 100 pages got me loving theo a hell of a lot more ngl!) and also because the queens influence rlly doesn’t make sense to me, like she has all of the guards and her own family scared of her for no reason. she has no crazy powers; she’s literally just an old woman with anger issues lol

also the writing was great in this book but i have found that miss eva chase uses the verb ‘bob’ a bit too much in the series and it’s a bit cringey ngl, just feels very overused.

other than that! i loved it more than the first book and i’m super excited for the last one in the series!

One of my favorite series ever written!!! Absolutely in love with this series!! It's so much more than just a love story. Of course there is passion but also adventure, friendship, love, betrayal and acceptance. Alyssa is a beautiful character!! She encompasses these brilliantly complicated strengths and weaknesses. She has this huge ability to love and lead. This world of Wonderland that Ms. Chase has created is extraordinary!! This is so much more than just a reverse harem!! The romance is truly and undeniably present, but this is centered around saving Wonderland from the tyrant queen. The history that this incredibly imaginative author has layered throughout this series has been breathtaking!!! There have been surprises and those ah ha moments have been astonishing!! Hatter, Chess and Theo are true heroes who your heart will cherish and never want to part from 💗💗💗 I'm a bit in love with each of them!!! I have never loved a RH quite the way that I have this one. I'm heavily invested in the happenings and am crushed that I will have to wait for book three to be released!! I plan to purchase the paperbacks of the entire series because I simply have to have these beauties on my bookshelf. I'll be re-reading these beloved books for years to come 💞💞💞 Thank you Eva Chase for giving me such amazing characters and such an unforgettable world!!! This series has my whole heart 🌷🌷🌷

Wrathful Wonderland is Book 2 of the Looking-Glass Curse. Ms. Chase has again out did herself in the retelling. She has continued expanding her Wonderland development with beautifully descriptive prose. She has added growth to her characters as well as giving us information and insight into their pasts which answers many of the question generated in Book 1. Lyssa is learning more about herself and her family. We also have a better understanding of Hatter, Theo, and Chess and what made them who they are. We also delve deeper into the Queen of Hearts' reign of terror and her love of the saying "Off With There Head". This book is a page-turner with adventure, action, intrigue, twists/turns, acceptance, romance, etc. It answers so many of my questions from Book 1 but also adds more. There is a cliffhanger which makes it impossible to be lax about when Book 3 will arrive. Again, I highly recommend this book and series. I find this retelling of Alice In Wonderland to be so much better than the original. Received a copy and this is my voluntary and honest review.

https://whyicantstopreading.blogspot....

So Lyssa, Chess, Theo and Hatter managed to free Time with the help of the Spades. None of the Clubbers seem very thankful and The Queen of Hearts is on a tear because... well who knows what her problem is???

So Eva Chase brings Lyssa back to Wonderland with even more action, more suspense and more HOT HOT HOT between the sheets action. Lyssa grows closer to her 3 paramours and starts to seriously fall for them until some big reveals leave us wondering if she will end up with all 3 of them or maybe just 2?

During our second book Lyssa starts coming into her own. She becomes more confident and sure of herself even though some crazy revelations make her think twice about staying or going. We follow Lyssa and the Spades over the Checkerboar Plains and meet the Jaberwocks we have always been a little scared of. Eva Chase is a genius. Thanks! I couldn't put it down and once again found myself reading to all hours of the night.

Wrathful Wonderland by Eva Chase is a medium-burn reverse harem romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Samantha Cook and Teddy Hamilton. This is the second book in the Looking-Glass Curse series.

I love Eva's books! They always pull me in, and I can't help but binge them in one sitting. I am loving the chemistry between Lyssa, Hatter, Chess, and Theo. I can't wait to see how their relationship will progress over the course of the series. I really enjoyed getting all of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

The book ended on an amazing cliffhanger that left me begging for more. I can't wait to jump into the final book in the series Wanton Wonderland.

Teddy and Samantha did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this series if you're looking for a medium-burn romance, why choose romance, or a fantasy romance.

In this second book in the Looking Glass Curse series Lyssa is stuck in Wonderland and has to stay there until a new route home is found for her. During this time the Queen starts to imprison townsfolk until she has Lyssa and all of the Spades in custody. With the help of the Hatter who is being more mad these days, Chess going missing a lot and the White Knight revealing some very dark secrets will Lyssa evade capture and rescue those imprisoned or end up losing her head?

I loved this book which explained a lot of the questions that came to my mind in the first book (although it did give me a few new ones too). It gave some great details about the world Lyssa is now in, the history of it, the main characters and some great insights into the three guys and their personalities. It was all clear and easy to understand and the ending is a definitely cliffhanger so I definitely NEED to know what happens next and what Lyssa does about it.

Ninguém é tão altruísta assim e a autora não vai conseguir me convencer do contrário.

I love Lyssa's adventure in the wonderland! In this book, her willingness to venture into unknown territory to retrieve the artefacts and help the Wonderlanders is admirable. Of course, her courage is due to the presence of her trusty companions: the white knight, Chess, Hatter, Dee and Dum and Doria.

As we read through her journey, we can't help but wonder what's the secret that the white knight kept from Lyssa or how the ring will help in discovering the artefacts and what challenges Lyssa will encounter in her journey. Besides the dangerous adventure, the team must also find a way to rescue the prisoners.

The story is relatively entertaining, and the ending of this book will make you want to dive into the next book immediately! But I have one complaint: I think Chess now loses his personality. His talk had been cryptic in the first book, but it doesn't seem to be now.

Wrathful Wonderland By Eva Chase:
(The Looking-Glass Curse Book 2)

I love how Hatter told Lyssa that looking at the picture of Aunt Alicia's house made Lyssa being gone easier because he knew she was safe. MAN Theo was definitely being weird.. what is it that he knows?? Wow how the Queen gets her servants is sad... Poor Hatter having to do what he did... Holy crap what the heck did Lyssa do!?! She slowed the train down, how??? I love how the Ruby ring helps her find the items. Rightful Ruler!?!?! They got all the items but poor Lyssa not knowing if she wants that role. HOLY CRAP Mirabel!?!? What the heck!?! Theo.... what a huge freaking twist.. A total mind blow moment!!!! That betrayal that Lyssa felt when she was told Theos truth... the ending... oh my god!!! Theos truth coming out in front of everyone and then lyssa being sent back!?!
NEXT BOOK HERE I COME!

I love fairy tale retellings and even though I’m not a huge fan of Alice in Wonderland I really like this retelling’s version. You get the same characters from book one but we get to hear their secrets and what makes them tick. We get even more of Wonderland and Eva Chase does a fabulous job with her world building and descriptions. Even though her checkerboard plains may be dangerous I still would want to visit after all the detailed descriptions. I must say that Walrus and Carpenter still creep me out as much as they had in the Disney movie of Alice.
This book was better than the first and definitely more bloody. Can’t wait to see where the betrayal and cliffhanger leads us when book 3 comes out.
I did receive an arc of this book.

Cute. I didn’t realize this was reverse harem. I find that all v boring nobody talks like that I rarely find romance in books that impresses me. This trilogy was included in my Audible membership & I love retellings. Decent story. The more I read “fantasy” the more I find the way heroines are written to be cringe & annoying … especially the way the males talk about her. I was getting F*ck Marry K*ll vibes but without the k*ll cuz her lovers all seem like good guys even w their “secrets”. though this is a medium burn I would’ve enjoyed more suspense between the harem & heroine. Also I’m listening to this & the female narrator isn’t my favorite. Though she does a better job w opposite gender voices than the male narrator.

The saga continues in Wonderland...the Queen becomes more aggressive, taking people off the street and threatening to behead them unless the Spades are turned in...the plans...Lyssa works with Chess, Hatter and Theo to try and come up with a way to defeat the Queen. Emotions run rampant as Lyssa decides that she is in love with all three men, but each man has his secrets. I went through this whole book with a sense of wonder, wondering what was going to happen next? Intrigue and a boatload of really hot sex. What more could you want? I loved this book and am anxiously waiting for part 3 to appear.

Great continuation of the trilogy! Just like with the first book, I was sucked right into this!

Lyssa finds out more information and backstory about what makes her so important to Wonderland and it is so freaking cool! We find out that Thea knew a little bit about this and not only that, but he knows A LOT about what is going on. We find out more about Chess and more about the 'Mad' Hatter.

It gets a little hard for Lyssa to understand her place, but even when she doesn't think it, she still has her 3 trusted 'advisors' to help her out with this.

We get some super steamy scenes which were pretty freaking amazing. This author definitely knows how to showcase love and lust!!

Lyssa is back in wonderland looking for answers after discovering a box and note left by her aunt. She wasn’t planning to return so fast but after her time in Wonderland the real world just seemed dull and the wonderlanders could really use some help. Lyssa ends up having to reevaluate what she knows about herself, what she wants in life and what she thought was the truth all the while her relationship with her three men morphs into something else. While the story unfolds we get to see Wonderland in all its glory and flaws. Looking forward to seeing if Lyssa and her men manage to save Wonderland unscathed.

Wrathful Wonderland is a retelling of the Alice in Wonderland tale with a very sexy twist. It is what it is. It smutty but it's fun. I really enjoyed the first book. This one fell a little short for me. The world building is good. It had a great character development and twists in it. But the ending just was frustrating for me, it seemed completely out of character for Theo which made me want to throw my phone. However it was not enough to make me not want listen to the next installment. I do need to see this through.

The narration was well done and help me plunge into the story. I give this installment 3.25 ✨✨✨🦄🦁♠️ vs ♥️...🃏

I LOVE Eva's work, and this series somehow passed me by, so it was fantastic when this came up as a trilogy/complete set for just one credit on Audible!

There is such awesome world and character building in this story, which yes has links to Alice BUT is genuinely able to diversify enough to make it feel brand new. The Why Choose element makes it more fun, as her men are all so very different - although I did find I had a favourite much mor easily this time.

There could have been much more intensity, and HEAT, so I admit not quite the 5 star read I would normally rate, but still a truly fantastic fantasy read, complex and with stand out individual characters and plot twists galore!

Wrathful Wonderland (The Looking-Glass Curse Series Book 2)

Wrathful Wonderland (The Looking-Glass Curse Series Book 2) ~~ If book one was about discovery, this one is about survival. The Queen of Hearts takes center stage, and she’s every bit as terrifying and ruthless as promised. The four “rules” that could get you killed were such a clever setup, and watching the heroine try to outwit Wonderland’s most feared ruler kept me flipping pages late into the night. The relationships deepen here—alliances shift, tension builds, and we start seeing just how high the stakes really are. Darker, sharper, and even more addictive than the first.

Loved the second book in the series. Lyssa finds out a lot of things in this book about her three guys and about herself and her family. There are good and bad times, and a trip through the Checkerboard that was pretty exciting. I can't wait for the next book so I can see how Lyssa handles what happened at the end of this one. I'm not telling you what that was, so you need to read both books and get all caught up...in more ways than one.

I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

Lyssa is on quite an adventure. She is really trying to do what is right and takes on incredible danger to save the people of Wonderland. In the middle of it all, she is juggling her feelings for three very different men.

I enjoyed the story. Alice really finds her strength as she journeys to save the people from the evil Queen. I enjoyed her interactions with Hatter. They go on a quite an adventure. The ending really has a twist and leaves you eager for the next book.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

This is book 2 of a trilogy, and you need to read book one first, so if you haven’t yet, run don’t walk and read it and then come back. In book 2 we go deeper into Wonderland (which turns out to contain elements of the Looking Glass world as well as the original Wonderland, but that’s fine). We learn Lyssa’s and Theo’s true identities, and the secrets that have tormented Hatter and Chess. The Red Queen continues to oppress Wonderland, and the Spades to fight back, and the book ends on a cliffhanger so devastating that you have to start volume 3 immediately.

Okokok, that was crazy.

Me dejaron total y absolutamente descolocada.

Wonderland has twists and turns… This is a second in the wonderland series. It delves into all the skeletons in everyone's closets. It also gives Lyssa a family history lesson that she had no idea about. Theo has told his truths, Chess talked about his demons and Hatter has relived his guilt. Steam 9/10 * Sweet 9/10 * RH * Alt 1st POV * Cliffhanger

Even better than the first one, which I loved incidentally. This one sucked me in completely. Wonderland seemed even more three dimensional, as do the characters. Motivations for behaviour are explored which makes forming a connection to the characters that much easier. So cross about the cliffhanger! I hate having to wait to find out how it's going to pan out.

So Good!

Shocking revelations in this latest adventure of Lyssa’s is enough to leave you as topsy turvy as the the topsy turvy woods. In book 2, we get to learn much more about everyone’s background, especially Chess and Theo. Grand adventures and steamy times are what lay ahead in this book. Can’t wait for book 3 because that ending!!!!
