For the love of kibble and dog treats, I’m so in enamored with this series! Broken and damaged characters with realistic flaws that make them immensely endearing, and a canine hero that wiggles its way right into my heart! These are characters I wish I could know in real life, because their courage and determination is so inspiring.
Blaze takes an assignment to find one of the war dogs, Solo, and it takes him back home to Kentucky. After the injuries that took him out of active duty, he's finally ready to return to his small home town. Camilla isn’t someone Blaze remembers from his days living in Rockport, but when he stops to help her with a flat tire, she makes an impression. No sooner than they even think about dating, someone begins threatening Camilla.
My only regret is that this book isn’t longer, because I need to stay in this book world longer. Between the budding romance, the drama and suspense of a stalker, and the methodical patience of befriending Solo, this one kept me on the edge of my seat while I devoured the pages. If you like military romance with suspense, you’ll love Blaze!
*I reviewed an advance copy of this book freely and voluntarily, having made no commitment to provide a review and receiving no compensation of any kind from any source for this review.
Due to a career ending injury ex-Navy SEAL Blaze is adjusting to civilian life and trying to decide what his future will hold. He decides to return home to Kentucky to be close to his father and while there he has agreed to try and locate Solo, a missing rescue dog. When Blaze stops to assist a fellow motorist who narrowly avoided hitting the dog he believes he was looking for he never imagined how his life would change.
Camilla is an events planner who is a little stressed by the near collision, but she is calmed by Blaze’s calm demeanor. They have an immediate attraction to each other and a relationship ensues however when Camilla is in danger will Solo and Blaze be able to keep her safe?
This is an action packed story not only about Camilla and Blaze but Solo as well. Both Solo and Blaze are kindred spirits who have closed themselves off to others until Camilla with her fun and giving personality give them both hope for the future.
Another great story in this intriguing K9 series. When Blaze travels to his hometown to find Solo, he is pleased to reunite with his father after his ten years away. He didn’t expect to play the white knight as he heads towards town, but when he encounters Camilla, her light and laughter attracted him to her at once. When strange things begin to happen around Camilla, Blaze needs to find out who has it in for her, before they escalate. His method of gaining Solo’s trust is truly wonderful and I really loved the ending of the book.
Blaze by Dale Mayer is another great story by this very talented author. Blaze is an enjoyable read that has a few twists & turns but not enough to highjack the story. Thoroughly enjoyable reading. I received an advanced readers copy of this ebook from Booksprout & voluntarily leave my review.
A fast-paced easy-to-read sweet suspense romance, yup there's plenty sweetness in this suspense story. The banter between Blaze and Camilla, bring smile to my face the whole time, they're just so cute together, quirky heroine (I really love Camilla, she's super brave, although a bit careless) and protective alpha hero (well Dale Mayer always succeed to creates amazing Alpha Heroes), oh yes they're so perfect for each other. Not much about Solo the german shepherd though, I wished there's more about the dog, because it's a K9 series, so I was expecting more interaction with Solo, well that's my only complain. So overall, with amazing characters, good mystery suspense, with a little action and plenty sweetness, I enjoy this book a lot.
If you're looking for fast-paced sweet suspense read, this book is for you.
Another great instalment in the K9 files has Blaze going back to his hometown to find Solo, a missing military dog. He encounters Camilla on his way home and is amused by her antics and interaction. He ends up getting a date with the woman and finds himself protecting the woman when her safety is threatened. As the investigation on who did it they learn their pasts are connected in more than one way...could that be the answer. A great read with some steam and quite a few chuckles along the way with Camilla’s character. Once again I enjoyed the couple and the little to no drama between them. The story flowed nicely and the suspense had me flipping the pages....cant wait for the next instalment. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
This was a good book! The last two books in the K9 Files series were not as readable as the first one, Ethan. This book is back to the quality Ms. Mayer is so capable of. It involves a mystery, possibly a murder, a town full of suspects, although it’s pretty easy to figure out who the culprit is.
This time, the dog is a female German shepherd named Solo. There is less about the dog than the people who occupy the book, and Solo exists primarily to highlight the character of the hero, Blaze, who has returned to his hometown in Kentucky. He meets a woman, of course, Camilla, who is an event planner. Camilla is a strong character, often taking the lead in the story. That’s a nice change of pace. In the previous book in this series, the female lead was scarcely heroine material. I am relieved to read about a woman who is fully capable of taking care of herself.
I miss the dog personality. These books are called The K9 Files and I miss the focus on the canines. This book seems the most distant of all of them so far. The dog, Solo, is not prominent and while the relationship between Blaze and Camilla is interesting and holds a reader’s attention, something is definitely missing, and I think it’s the soul of the War Dog being rescued.
Dysfunctional families seem to be a theme in Ms. Mayer’s books and this one is no exception. Camilla’s family is at the pinnacle of dysfunction: wow! Camilla’s grandmother, now passed away, sounds like she was quite a soul. I would have liked to have gotten to know her character. In the brief amount of information we glean from Camilla’s background, she sounds as if she were a woman of charisma and charm.
The same can be said for Blaze’s mother, Enid. She loved dogs and seemed to be someone most everyone admired. There is a story in there about her life and death, but we do not get to know it. Pity.
Ms Mayer is a master of the slow burn. Here, we have two attractive main characters who do not act on their attraction immediately. I am not a fan of insta-anything, be it insta-love, insta-lust, or even insta-friendship. I am suspicious of all things “insta.” In this book, the characters wait, and it is a natural progression that finds them in bed together – well written love scene, by the way. You won’t want to cringe in embarrassment for the writer, nor will you want to speed read through the ho-hum over-used erotica; it’s that well written.
There is one other observation that can be made regarding Ms Mayer’s books, at least in this series. There is little, if any, closure in her books. They aren’t cliffhangers but they do not end in a particularly satisfying way. At the end of the last chapters there are a lot of loose ends. In this book, the reader is left to wonder what happens to the sheriff? What happens to the evildoers? What happens to Blaze’s father? And good heavens, most important of all: what happens to Solo? We are left completely in the dark regarding this sad War Dog who has been left out in the cold. In the last chapter, we might infer that all will be well for her, but we do not know this, nor do we know how she will recover. There is no happy ending written for Solo.
There are very few errors – and I am appreciative! Too many books these days feel rushed to publication and so proofreading is either ignored or has truly become a lost skill. Only one error made me laugh: “That’s sounds rough,” he said. The apostrophe “s” is not needed. “That sounds rough” is sufficient.
So glad to read a book at the caliber of her first, Ethan, which began this series. I am looking forward to reading more books in this series. I rated this book 4-stars for its excellent writing.
Where most people keep pictures of their human loved ones in their workspace, Blaze’s loved ones were the puppies he’d met in his volunteer work at the local animal rescue shelter, many of whom he had helped find loving homes. When asked the extent of his dog experience and training, he explained that he tried to get into the military K9 program but had “failed for the right reason.” Not getting attached to the dogs with whom he was working was a harder task than Blaze was willing to master. I couldn’t agree more. To really know a dog is to truly love a dog, impossible not to. Raised in a family that raised and trained the big Newfoundland and St. Bernard breeds, Blaze had experienced the strength of human-canine bonds.
Solo is the name of the shepherd-mix K9 that Jager assigned to Blaze for a “welfare check.” How very apt because Solo was a dog who bonded strongly with her first handler/trainer and then attached less and less as she was passed along to subsequent handlers until she became a loner. Her eventual adopted family from whom she ran away was not invested in finding her because they felt she had not bonded with any of them. In his case, after his years of service as a SEAL, then injuries, surgeries and rehab, Blaze himself was on a one-man trip to find his way back to civilian life and find a job that was not based on physical strength and knowledge of strategic warfare. Job prospects weren’t evident as Blaze didn’t know what he wanted or was qualified to do. That uncertainty had him wandering around looking for himself when he took a job working in New Mexico for Titanium Corp. (See the Mayer series SEALs of STEEL.) Returning to Kentucky with the mission to look for Solo, a dog needing a safe place for herself and someone to love, gave him a way to go home looking less broken than he felt.
Kentucky event planner Camilla is impressed with the young man who stopped to help when she went off the road to avoid hitting a shepherd-mix dog running around loose. That he made sure she and her event materials arrived at the venue where she would be running a wedding rehearsal dinner, after which he planned to go back to the scene to look for the dog before going to visit the family he hadn’t seen in years impressed Camilla. And contrary to his loner tendencies, Blaze turned her offer of thank-you coffee into a dinner date, and then stuck around to help when trouble started. Sounds like a promising adventure is already in place. If you want to know the rest, read Dale Mayer’s K9 series Book 4 – Blaze. Then, if you haven’t already, look for and read Books 1-3, Ethan, Pierce, and Zane, as well. What’s not to love about men who rescue and resurrect trust and love in smart and beautiful dogs and, in doing so, find their human soulmates?

This is an amazing series with Badger's group sending wounded warriors out to locate these missing retired K9s that are in the area that these soldiers originally lived. He asked Blaze to go to his home town in Kentucky since he was recovered enough to go home. Blaze was not healthy enough to travel home for his mother's funeral when she died but he was able to go see his father now. Blaze accepted this assignment and as he was driving on a road near his father's house when he came across a woman whose car had blown out a tire trying to avoid hitting a dog. It so happens that this dog was the dog, Solo, that Blaze was looking for. He called the local garage to get her a tire and gave Camilla a ride to the wedding location that she needed to be at. It seems Camilla and Blaze's mothers knew each other and were bitter enemies. Her sister Fran hated Blaze because he would not go out with her in high school but none of this matters to Camilla or Blaze who became good friends. Strange things were happening to Camilla when someone threw a rock through the window at the hall where Camilla was holding a rehearsal dinner. Blaze helped her get the window fixed and they got the Sheriff involved. Next someone threw a rock through the French doors at her house. Blaze was by her side protecting her and getting that window fixed as well. Solo was hanging out around Camilla's house so Blaze started to leave food and treats to gain his trust so he could get Solo off the street. When an intruder broke into her house and Camilla started chasing him when he ran I to the woods and Solo actually bit him. Blaze and Camilla found the intruders car and tried to notify the Sheriff but someone has knocked him out and he was in the hospital. His Deputy helped them out and identified the man that was doing all this vandalism. Until they caught him Blaze was staying g with Camilla and was helping her to finish the wedding she was being paid to plan since she was an event planner. It was exciting how they solved the mystery as to why this man was trying to kill Camilla and Blaze and who hired him. It was so romantic as Camilla and Blaze were falling in love despite the actions of her sister Fran. Blaze also got Solo to trust him and let him put a lease on her so they could take her home and be their pet. Badger played matchmaker once again and saved another retired K9. Now he was looking for a new wounded rehabilitated soldier to find another K9. After Blaze, Camilla and Solo's happily ever after he was on a roll. I cannot wait to read the next release in this fantastic spinoff series.
Blaze was a Navy Seal until injuries ended his career. He was lost an didn;t know what to do with his life until Badger another Seal that had lost part of himself serving his country added him to their team now he;s thinking of going home to Kentucky and work with his dad who lost his mom while Blaze was in the hospital fighting for his life.As Blaze is looking at photos of dogs one of the team asked about them .He said they had all been at the shelter but had found homes. When Badger asked his plans he said he might go home to Kentucky but needed more of a reason that;s when Badger asked if he had experience with dogs he said he used to help train dogs with his dad.Badger told him about the war dogs and that there had been found in bad circumstances but two had been adopted by the guys that found them and one went back to the guy he served with and all three guys found the woman of their dreams. Blaze said he;d look for the dog but the woman of his dreams he didnt have that kind of luck. That;s when Badger said keep your heart open that;s how his whole team are happily married.Blaze met party planner Camille and the attraction is there. She has someone after her and a dog barks making her alert. It turns out Solo is helping protect Camille.Camille and Blaze grow close .Will Blaze finally get Solo to trust him? Will Solo attack someone that is threatening Camille? Will Blaze and Camille fall for each other.?Both have deep emotional scars. And Blaze is afraid when Camille sees his that she will reject him?But will Camille feel that hes a hero that earned every scar. There are so many twists and turns to this story you will be riveted to the very last page and leave you begging for more.I love the way this amazing author brings the characters to life before your eyes and makes you feel their emotions and their pain.I can hardly wait to see whats next by this multi talented author.Way to go Sale Mayer. you never fail to up each book.Always the best.

This series highlights service dogs that are used overseas to help the military. When the dogs retire, the military tries to place them in good homes so they can live the rest of their lives in peace. Unfortunately, some dogs get loose and/or are living with abusive owners. The K9 File series is about those dogs.
In this book Blaze is sent to Rockfield, Kentucky, his hometown, to search for Solo, a military service dog who has been seen roaming that area. Blaze has not been home to visit his father since he has recovered from his war injuries. Therefore he is looking forward to going home as he searches for Solo.
While at home, Blaze meets Camilla who is an event planner. He is looking for Solo when he spots her car at the side of the road with a flat tire. Coincidentally, she had steered off the road trying to avoid hitting a dog in the street.
I love the character of Camilla. Ms. Mayer has created an eccentric woman with a very a very strong work ethic. She is spacey, kind-hearted, generous, opinionated and hilarious. Yet, this author does it so skillfully that Camilla is strikingly lovable.
As usual, Ms. Mayer skillfully invents a complex plot. Someone is trying to scare Camilla away from Blaze by destroying her business. There are a lot of twists and turns as well as many intricate details that stump Camilla and the entire town. Throughout it all, Camilla never loses her spirit or her positive outlook.
Blaze admires Camilla’s work ethic and enjoys her eccentric personality. He continues to help Camilla save her business as he searches for the person who is trying to destroy her. In between all of that, he is trying to regain Solo’s trust so he can come and live with him.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching Camilla and Blaze interact with each other as they attempt to solve the mystery.
I really enjoyed this one! It has a humorous side with Camilla’s bravery and spitting kitten attitude as well as a sad theme regarding the horrific injuries Blaze suffered resulting in missing his mother’s funeral.
I love the small town atmosphere where people have know each other most of their lives, and for some, it feels like home after being there just a little while. It has a knowledge of the townsfolk that big cities can’t match. He grew up loving dogs, where it kind of runs in the family, with a natural affinity to what the animals are thinking and how they react to various treatment by people. I love how Blaze takes on the challenge of finding and befriending Solo and his determination to give her a decent life.
Camilla is sweet despite her mother and sisters’ criticism and less than loving treatment of her. Disdain, jealously and dislike is all they have to give her, so with them out of her life, she has no problem becoming a successful woman in her own right with her Event Planning business keeping her very busy. Vandalism to the event center right before a big wedding has Camilla feeling uneasy and yet determined to make this occasion perfect for her client. She can be feisty when offended and Blaze sees this as a sexy attribute when she doesn’t hesitate to speak her mind. But when her own home is broken into, Blaze takes over matters to make sure Camilla is protected and the culprit is found.
This hot, sexy, romance is another great book in this series and is a complete joy!
Blaze had planned to go home to Rockfield, Kentucky at some point - just not yet. However when Badger gives him a reason to go there - to help a lost K9 Shepherd called Solo who has dissociative issues he knows he has to go there and try to find her. Camilla is an event planner and tries to avoid hitting a dog that runs across the road in front of her. Blaze sees the accident and stops to help her as well as make sure the dog (who he suspects is Solo is also ok). He realises Camilla is great fun and she gives him the first reason he has had to smile in a very long time. However some people's memories run long and never forget insults, so someone is not at all happy about their friendship. How far will this person go to keep them apart?
This story was action from start to finish as the mystery of who was behind the attacks was developed until the explosive finale as it became clear of the who and why behind it all. It was great for Blaze to learn more about his parents as well as explore the relationship with Camilla. Woven into those stories was the story of Solo and how Blaze finally made contact with her and started to trust humans again. I also loved the way she seemed to be protecting Camilla from the attacker. Well written and full of action this was a really enjoyable story of how a retired serviceman found his other half as well as a missing K9.
The stories in the K-9 files series have an intensity, that, although not as highly dramatic as the ones of the Seals of Steel saga of the same author, makes them vibrant and captivating. Blaze is no exception. The storyline is light-hearted, set in the sunny Kentucky countryside, but the emotional content picks up quickly after the first few pages, capturing the readers' interest and keeping them glued to the page. Blaze, the protagonist, has an intriguing personality; a veteran, severely wounded, he not only has been able to recuperate from his injuries but has accepted his new physical condition, having found his new normality and being at peace with it. Camilla, his counterpart, is a lively and generous young woman; her free spirit, her hectic professional work style, and her witty retorts give life and animation to the story. Finally, Solo, the former service dog, scared and lonely, is an intriguing and captivating co-protagonist. Their adventures give life to an action-packed but also sweet tale, that entertains and move the readers and makes them long to hear more about the former K-9 dogs and their human saviors. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Opinions and comments are solely my own.
Like other Wounded Warriors, Blaze has been through a lot while recovering from his physical injuries, but the invisible wounds have left him with questions about who he is now, where does he go and what does he do next?
Solo is a highly trained Military Working Dog who has been lost on her way back from overseas to a life that was supposed to be safe and comfortable. On her own and struggling to survive, she has lost trust in humans and needs someone like Blaze to rescue her.
Camilla is an energetic business owner, but carries her own internal injuries from a family that is divided with love on one side and greed that is thicker than blood on the other.
In Book 4 of the K9 Files, Dale Mayer brings us characters who make their way into the reader's heart as they come together and find they just may rescue each other.
Through twists and turns, Blaze is a story of life, romance, suspense and more. Read it now and put it on your "To Read Again" shelf, because you will want to come back again.

Badger and his team have been tasked by Commander Cross to select the right people to find military dogs that are now out of the loop. They have basi information as to the dog's last known location. It's up to whoever they recruit to report back if the dog is being cared for properly.
In this book, the dog Solo was well named, she didn't bond with the new family and appears to be alone. Blaze has a good reason to go look for her, his father, a dog breeder and trainer live in Rockfield and it's time for him to go home.
What he didn't expect was to find a young woman broken down on the side of the road, one who attracts him. The reason she damaged her car was because avoided hitting a dog. One that matches Solo's description.
Blaze's reunion with his dad goes better than he expected and then he gets down to the business of finding Solo. He also checks up on Camilla and takes her for coffee.
Apparently gossip travels fast and it becomes very apparent that her family isn't pleased she was anywhere near Blaze.
Intriguing twists and plenty of laughter as Blaze pursues not only Solo but Camilla as well.
Blaze has worked hard at healing after his injuries as a Navy Seal and a trip home seems to be the next step. He has been asked to return to Kentucky to look for a vet dog named Solo who has retired from the service and is lost. Since his dad is still working with dogs in Kentucky this seems to be a great choice. There he meets Camilla on the side of the road where she has had an accident trying to avoid hitting a dog who might be the shepherd Blaze is searching to find. Camilla is an events planner involved in setting up a wedding (she always avoids weddings but is doing this for a friend). Soon it becomes clear someone is trying to harm the plans for the wedding and the relationship growing between Blaze and Camilla. There is some dysfunctional family history in play, Solo is a loner so it's making it difficult to track her and Blaze wants to protect them both. So love, romance, loyalty, honor, mystery, and finding Solo are all involved. I would have loved to see this story develop even more but thoroughly enjoyed it as is too. Definitely looking forward to the next book in this series!
Blaze works for Badger and his friends but Blaze figures this job is just a stepping stone before he heads back to Kentucky. Blaze was badly wounded and missed his mother's funeral. His dad wants Blaze to come home but Blaze wanted to go home under his own terms. Jager comes to him with an offer to find Solo in his hometown in Kentucky.
He meets Camilla when he pulls over to help with her car. Camilla is an even planner who doesn't need to work. She is bright and bubbly with heart of gold. She has a wicked sense of humor and doesn't have much of a filter although she doesn't curse. She does not know how to say no and it gets her into trouble when a friends asks her to plan her rehearsal dinner and reception. Things start to go sideways as she starts to date Blaze.
Blaze came for Solo but may just stay, keeping the streak alive as far as dog and life partners found. Blaze slowly gets to know Solo and when he finally gets her the story sort of ends. The story was more about Camilla and Blaze than it was about Blaze and Solo. The others in the series had a bit more of an ending. It was a good, fast read. I look forward to the next one.
Another missing dog, another vet going back to his home town, and another love match? It looks like given time, Badger and his gang will be challenging Levi's group for matchmaking.
While Blaze has healed from his physical wounds, he still has some unfinished business with his mother's death and not having seen his father for several years. He heads back to his hometown to see if he can find Solo, a shepherd who has gone missing in the area. He hasn't even made it to had Dad's place when he runs across Camilla who is stuck on the side of the road with a flat tire. Turns out she had swerved to miss hitting a dog.
This story will keep you on the edge of your seat as someone starts causing issues for Camilla - throwing rock through the window at the rec center and then her home, and messing up the decorations for the wedding reception. Blaze, who is drawn to Camilla from their first meeting, helps to keep Camilla safe and find out who is behind stalking her. And throughout it all, Blaze works on gaining the trust of Solo.
Since Blaze has returned to his hometown in search of Solo a retired Service Dog he has found himself in the middle of a mystery involving a very attractive and heartwarming woman, Camilla.
The Shepard Blaze is seeking has dissociative issues which makes it hard for him to get close enough to touch her, but she does eat the food he faithfully leaves in the area where he first got sight of her. He is patient and she is hungry and Blaze discovers that she has also taken on guard dog duty for Camilla, warning her two times of an intruder.
There are mysterious happenings around Camilla but Blaze is always close enough to save her from any real danger. As Blaze heals more he realizes he is very attracted to Camilla and she those feelings. This was a gentle happening romance blooming between them.
The ending is surprising to say the least so grab yourself a copy of this book, a glass of wine and get ready for some enjoyable reading.
Blaze by Dale Mayer K9 Files Book Four Blaze Bingham knew it was time to go home. He just needed that final shove. He only had his dad now, it was time. When Jager told him about a K9 in the area he was from, it was what he needed. To go home with a purpose...to find Solo.
Camilla Channing had an events business. Charity events, dog show events, any kind of events is what she loved. But one thing she hated...wedding events. She'd only done one and should've learned from that. But no, here she is doing a second wedding for another friend. It was bad enough pleasing the bride...but then someone had to go and cause trouble.
A dog. A ruined wheel on a car. A soldier returning home after being gone too long. And somebody out to get someone for some unknown reason. Put them together for a great story and hopefully a happy-ever-after for man, woman, and dog. **Sexual content https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
I am really enjoying this new series. Whats not to love our deployed returned home and dogs. Sigh, happy! Though these are quick reads, with the Dale Mayer suspense and some steamy bed time, they also bring to light the rough road the deployed have when they come home, the physically wounded and the emotional. This series points out the K9's are also affected. Blaze was one of those you want to bring home to mom and if you can't have him that way you will take him as a big brother. Just touched all the family bases. Sigh. I thought I knew who was behind the stalking and the happenings, but I was wrong. Right tree, wrong branch, ha! I do have one complaint. To me, (because this is just my opinion) we didn't have enough of Solo. Thank you Dale Mayer, Booksprout for the arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own and were unsolicited.
Due to Blaze's mission to determine a missing military dog's condition, Blaze returns to his hometown. Camilla, an event planner, is reluctantly planning a friend's wedding events. When Camilla avoids hitting a dog and her car runs off the road, Blaze stops to help. When events happen that hinder Camilla's work on the wedding events, Blaze wants to protect her. Blaze juggles helping Camilla and looking for the missing German shepherd. I received a free copy of this book from the author through Booksprout. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. This is another enjoyable read in the series. Being from Kentucky myself, I liked that book was set in a small town there. The book was suspenseful as events escalated against Camilla and her business. I liked the book and series very much.
Blaze and Camilla's story is my favorite so far. The only thing I do not like is the epilogue. They are never about the couple of the dog. The epilogue is used as a segway for the next story. After investing so much time in the story, I want to know more of their outcome. This story is my favorite because it had the right amount of balance; the disability each get is dealing with and their new mission, the heroine that is dealing with her own issues, the dog that is in need, the elements of Danger and intrigue, the humor was great, the nicely developed love scene. I wish there was more than one. The other three stories prior to this one, lacked the abovementioned balance for me personally. I am glad I stuck with the series because this one made up for what was lacking in the others in my opinion. Now, I look forward to the rest.
Sent on a mission to find a service dog that has gone wild, Blaze returns home for the first time in years. Having been in recovery after receiving severe injuries, he has had to work up the courage to face the people he loves, given his wounds. Whilst Blaze does identify that Solo is running loose in the woods near his home, he also finds a lively event planner who needs his help. Camilla has avoided all relationships, but meeting Blaze makes her realise what she is missing out on. Only, their budding relationship stirs up a hornets' nest and when she comes under attack, Blaze has his hands full keeping her safe. I found this novel very different from others I have read by this author and although it was enjoyable, it was not what I was expecting. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Another great story about saving a dog named Solo. Badger offer this assignment to Blaze because he's from Kentucky and that is where Solo was sighted and where his father lives. It'd been a long time since he had been home. After being hurt from an IED and in the hospital he couldn't get home. He meets camilla on the side of the road with a shredded tire because she was trying to avoid hitting the dog. So there story leads down a dangerous path they hadn't expected. I will say the Seals of Steel were mention at the end about their next rescue attempt, but it said in the blurb we'd hear from some charators from Seals of Honor and Heroes for Hire. But they weren't in or mentioned in this book.
Another interesting and suspenseful story full of excitement and budding love, with twists and curve balls to stop you getting to comfortable or figure out the villain until near the end. Characters to fall in love with as they battle the bad guys, their flaws all while trying to help a dog beaten down and untrusting of any human contact. I wanted this story to go further, I would have loved a bit more of Solo and her settling into a new life, maybe more of Blaze's dad and his dogs because it all sounded so great. These ex K9's break my heart as do the ex military men looking for them, all they have been through to get to where they are now, the stories feel real and each and every one of them touches me that is the magic of what Dale creates.
Blaze went back to his home town on a mission or two. One, to find Solo, a shepherd from the military K-9 division and one to determine his next path after his discharge from the military. Almost as soon as he makes it to town, he offers to help Camilla after she had a flat tire and gets his first clue in searching for Solo.
Blaze decided that he liked Camilla’s honesty and wanted to get to know her better. As they start spending time together, there are broken windows at a venue where Camilla has an event scheduled and later at her home. Then she receives strange emails and text messages. Can Blaze and Camilla determine who and why someone is trying to keep them apart and still find Solo to keep her out of harm’s way?
This has to be my favorite book so far in this series of books. I absolutely loved the characters and the dog. I felt that the characters interactions were so lifelike and true to Dale Mayer's writing. She has always been such an amazing author, no matter which series you are reading. I loved the story line and how the story unfolded. The story kept me engrossed and I just could not stop reading the book. I loved the book from start to finish. It included some action, suspense, mystery, love and of course the story included a wonderful dog. As a dog lover I can't say enough about this series. Love, Love, Love It!

This was such a great story. Once I started, I couldn't stop. The plot was a real twister. I totally guessed the wrong culprit! I adored Camilla and her spunk (especially the scene after her house was broken into!!) Blaze was a wonderful addition to the men searching for the missing K-9s. Even though he didn't serve as a handler in the military, his family raised and showed two different large breeds. Blaze had a loving heart towards canines. These two come together beautifully.
The plot was well written. I really hated to see the story end though. I highly recommend this one. There was one bedroom scene and it was very brief and not at all anything of erotica in nature.
