A delightful, gorgeous, sweet, slow-burn second chance romance.
No spice, just a kiss in the entire book.
Relatable and so lovable MC's, and secondary characters.
Full of delicious descriptions of pastries, cakes and other sweets, that will have you drooling and almost feel the smell of hot goodies in the air.
A full recipe included of the cake that will have a very important role in the story.
Not forgetting the FMC pet and friend Gray, who once was a tiny pig just inside an empty cup of tea.
Wonderful plot.
Beautifully written.
And of course it's an HEA!
North Carolina.
The small town of Bailey's Fork.
Kelly McIntyre and Andrew York know each other since grad school, but began dating only in High School and are engaged to me married in the summer of next year.
She loves to bake, he loves to cook.
They both work in the Main Street Cafe, which belongs to her parents, and spend hours in the kitchen, when not working, creating and perfecting new recipes for the restaurant they will own someday in the future.
They are so happy and love one another so much!
They're soulmates!
Destined to be together forever until death to them part!
But that's about to change.
Andrew's great-aunt Claire, living in France, is paying for him to study in Paris for 6 months, July to December, with the best pastry chef in the world, who's teaching in her carriage house.
He will live with Claire for the duration.
Though she didn't want him to go, she couldn't ask him to stay, and loose such a great opportunity.
That would be selfish.
She will be counting the days until he comes back.
He gets his certificate and phones her saying he was offered a scholarship for real culinary stuff with the best chef around.
He already had everything planned.
They will be married there, live in his great-aunt carriage house, and Kelly could get a job in a bakery.
Her heart shattered in a million pieces!
💔💔💔💔💔
She wouldn't stop him, but she would never leave her family and work for someone else, and never would leave Bailey's Fork!
7 YEARS LATER
During this time she was set on making her dream come true: owning a bakery!
She opened The Cake Factory next to the cafe, emplyoing almost 100 people and the once derilit building hummed with activity day and night and the smell of fresh baked goods permeated everything around.
She also opened and online business that was known all over the country.
She helped the town renovate, and others followed her, attracting more tourists and other businesses.
And she never saw or talked to Andrew again, though he never left her heart!
And that's when it all changed again.
Andrew came home, to the States, on his way to New York to help a friend open his own restaurant.
And when he saw what Kelly had accomplished, how she succeeded without him, it gnawed on him!
An seeing and talking to her, the feelings he had for her in the past resurfaced, because they were never gone!
And Kelly too.
He was actually better, a handsome grown man now.
Being with her filled him with happiness and the joy of creating some new recipe with her.
He knew in his heart that he loved her, and if he stayed longer could she give him a second chance and forgive him?
She felt the same, but kept it to herself.
He was gone for 7 years, he had left her, and was leaving in a couple of days.
She could not loose him again, had her business, and maybe something more that would validated her hard work!
But fate, just call it that, was not finished with them, though both didn't know that.
He left town, on the way to New York, a broken man.
"Had he missed out on the only true chance of happiness that he'd be offered in this life time?"
"Someone who understood his hopes and dreams the way she had?"
Don't worry, read it.
The ending is so emotional and amazingly beautiful.
