- Harry Potter Fanfiction - - Hermione Granger/Antonin Dolohov - - Words: 144,449 -
Antonin kidnaps Hermione during the Department of Mysteries debacle, not knowing who she was, or why he needed her. Rabastan's strange affection for Luna introduces them all to the mudblood in the dungeons. When she offers good company, they offer her a way out, but she has to die first. Antonin begins to learn that things have changed since he's gotten out of Azkaban.
I saw this recommended as one of the best Hermione/Dolohov fics, and as I try to read more then just Dramione I thought I give it a shot. And there was so much I liked about it! How it was told from a death eater POV, I haven’t thought about that before and it was interesting! I like how the magic was described, how old ancestral magic played a vital part in everything and how all the death eaters had their expert fields they knew about. It made it believable why the dark lord would choose them to be the inner circle.
What I didn’t like was all the crying from Hermione’s part, she seemed to fall apart time and time again, but at the same time she was the mastermind behind it all? It was a little bit annoying. I never really understood why she would love Antonin either, or he her, the “You’re mine” can just go so far. Also I’m all for a grey Order, but having them physically hurt Hermione and name-calling her at the same time they expect her to be their strategist in the war seems a little far fetched. To continue, I know Hermione is supposed to be the smartest witch of her age, but what about them not her age? I can’t imagine McGonagall or Moody being so lost without Dumbledore, or other members of the Order? It was weird. And finally how easily the inner circle manipulated Voldemort, it would seem he was almost working for them haha.
All this aside a enjoyed reading the fic and I will absolutely give this ship a new chance!

Kinda an odd fic and somewhat enjoyable. Harry and the order are truly horrible-but not in too much of an ooc way which was entertaining. I will always enjoy good bashing fics. However, I felt zero chemistry between antonin and Hermione and the pace of the fic was stilted at times. 2.5 stars
