Tag yourself ...I'm definitely Jeremy . . . . A friend recommended me this book ,and although some of the elements were not to my usual taste I'm not usually a fan of - Books that are singularly about Romance - Short Stories....there just isn't enough character development in my opinion .
But the awkward 'ugly ' thing got to me ,as well as that it was reccomended , that it was indie , that the author was so young ...and I liked the concept . . . Let me just say that I actually liked this kind of romance , because im sick of the pretty couple getting together and oogling over each others hottness . This short story wasn't that at all , and that's what I loved.
The shortness kind of bothered me , but only because there wasn't a real development of thier relationship over time BUT it was still so sweet .Sweet romances are the ones that really stick with me ,not the Insta -lust ones that are always popular . This is what romance NEEDS to be , and it's so wonderful that someone so young ...and I'm not being patronizing...realized this .I'm saying this because most high schoolers seem to be super influenced in their thinking of love by fairy tales , tv , popular culture , and Disney movies ....I'll reign in my blathering now and wrap this up .xD I don't even usually like ROMANCE or short stories so this is saying something . My only complaint is that it isn't longer . Really sweet and beautiful story. I definitely would love to read more of her work ! :D
This was such a cute short story! I want more of Jeremy's and Ana's story, their relationship had me grinning the entire time. If you want to read this amazing short story you can here: https://gracelynbuckner.wordpress.com...
A sweet and relatable story about teenage insecurities and crushes. I couldn't quite figure out how Jeremy had worked up the nerve to actually talk to Ana with the preconceptions he had, but I liked the way things worked out overall. Although I was uncomfortable with a teenage couple leaving school to eat lunch in the woods together; even though nothing wrong happened, it didn't feel smart. But the writing felt very authentic and believable, and I really liked the message.
A cute and well written short story for a young adult audience. Too often with the young adult genre, students are portrayed in a way unrealistic to their age (either acting too adult with vocabulary too mature for their age, or it’s dumbed down in an unrealistic way). I thought this short story had a true and authentic voice and had a nice uplifting message. Well done for such a young author.
