Luke Klein's Nightmare at Horror High is an action packed thriller, filled with intrigue and suspense. I won't give away the details of the story as the synopsis lays it out very well. It's a tough genre to write in but Luke does it with everything from Molotov cocktails to messed up characters that wants you to keep following them. It's ultimately an inspiring and recommended read.

Nightmare at Horror High is a book that really puts certain things into perspective. It's about a teenager's trip through his time at the local high school, where he meets two like-minded individuals that suffer the same way he does. They go through quite a bit before setting things into motion. Their mental health takes a turn during all of this causing numerous events. It's a good book and an interesting read on the high school experience.

I was given a copy to make a review. This is what I think of the book.

A solid 4´5/5 stars for this wonderful book. Elliot is the main character of this story, narrated in first person. The author, Luke Klein, did an amazing job, especially with that brutal beginnig that took me by surprise in a good way.

Elliot MacArthur is new at Horner High School, and is being bullied by a group of students who dislike him. He befriends Anthony and Dalton, and falls in love with Isabella. He is not popular at all, and we se his journey throughout the first year he is spending there. Elliot´s days at Horner become a nightmare real soon.

Just wow. I did not expect anything that happens. Every single episode brings out something different, and we see Elliot change. Elliot is the protagonist and we get to know him well thanks to Luke Klein´s ability to write a character´s development. He also did another wonderful job with other characters like Anthony or Dalton. Dalton is a surprise: it is imposible not not be fascinated with his dark words. I liked Elliot a lot, and his story deserves to be read. I wouldn´t change a Word from this book, it is full of surprises and excelent characters.

I suggest you give Luke Klein a chance, because he´s got a special talent for charccter develpment, which for me is a must in the books I read.

Horner "Horror" High (a terrifying grown-up version of Crunchem Hall from Roald Dahl's Matilda), contains everything from merciless bullies and embarrassment, to love at first sight and the bonds of friendship.
.
Elliot MacArthur narrates the story as only a teenage boy can - at times naively, and at others fiercely emotionally, but always with an air of gothic poetry. He's subjected to cruelty by students and staff alike, but still retains surprising streaks of bravery and charisma.
.
On the writing style: I had to occasionally reread the dialogue to make sure I knew who was talking. I'm not sure if this was a formatting isssue or a chosen style, either way it slowed my reading pace.
.
Luke Klein reveals that his choice to become a writer was influenced by Anthony Burgess's book, A Clockwork Orange. I noticed the similarities, while also enjoying the originality of Klein's plot. I would go as far as saying this novel felt like A Clockwork Orange for the modern age.
.
A thought-provoking and honest read.

This book captured the awkardness of high school and the struggles that one endures. The narrator of the story is likable and is gender fluid making it accessible to multiple groups. This book hooked me in from the beginning and teaches some valuable lessons. I can see this book being practical and relevant (as well as a great addition to any library) in classrooms around the world. Bonus-relectant readers will be drawn in and captivated from the first sentence

I enjoyed reading this book. It's very mysterious too. At some point i was wondering what will happen, how did this happen? I love the characters and how they are all interlinked together. I love the way the horror part of the book. Very terrifying. The author did a great job in putting this piece together.

Nightmare at horror high reminds me of Columbine High School massacre. Initially I thought it was actually the writer's take on that incident, because Dalton wore a shirt to school that said the same thing as one of the Columbine High shooters.
The opening paragraph was enough to grasp my attention right away. Chapters of the book were small - one of the things I liked about it. The beginning does give away the ending though.
I liked the protagonist. I imagine him to be a mature person - as much as a teenager can be.
It was a horror filled read, the book title justifies the story.

Nightmare at Horror High is such an interesting and well-written book in my opinion. It does have an amazing plot. I met Elliot who is the main character, and the author Luke Klein, did a great job with him and most of the characters since they are well-developed. Elliot has to move from school and in his new school, he faces a total nightmare.

As the book is narrated as a first-person, you can easily feel and go through Elliot's changes during the whole book. As a non-native English speaker, I sometimes was confused because of the dialogues but it captures many issues and emotions the reader might relate to since the very beginning.

I certainly believe it will have a great impact because there are parts that make you think or put things into perspective. I don't know if this book will be good for a teenager but, I am sure that it might keep them engaged. I love it because it combines mystery, horror, a bit of romance, and of course, friendship, so I enjoyed reading this book very much.

Booktaster and Author given. This book draws you in from the beginning. A story of friendship and young love in the midst of a nightmare. A new boy starts to attend a HS in the town his parents move to over the summer. He is a junior and does not fit in as he is an outsider. He makes a few friends and allies through actions he will later regret. He has his eye on the star football player’s girl and is targeted along with his friends in bullying. But this is only a part of the nightmare that unfolds. This book will take you back to the halls of your High School and make you glad you never had this experience. It is a great book. I highly recommend. I am looking forward to more by this Author.

Elliott has been forced by his parents to leave the only home he has ever known in order to move to Utah. The schools architecture belongs in the Gothic era, the jocks love to era him up, his teacher hates him, and the girl he crushes on is dating one of his bullies. But, can he and the two other misfits he has banded together with help change their futures?

This will be my first truly negative book review; so if you do not wish to read it stop now. I have never not finished a book; but there has never been a book I wanted to complete less than this one.

I am on Twitter and was approached by Booktasters to begin doing reviews for them. My first choice was this book. I get the book and within the first few chapters I know everything that I need to know. This same chapter is then used later verbatim.

Unfortunately, this was not just a case of not caring for a book as it was painful for me to read and I will be being deleting my electronic copy soon. There were so many grammatical errors. There were even run on sentences that made me feel like I was losing brain cells. Such as "We went down the stairs to the very long ways aways away, way down, down, down the very long flight of stairs and into the basement, and I couldn't believe my eyes; white shaggy carpet, a humidified wine cellar, a home theater at one end, a pool table at the other, a bar to the side, pinball machines, arcades, video games, darts, chess, loveseats, couches, poker, ping-pong, beer-pong, and a library-study in the corner, filled with expensive glass-encased antique books."

That being said, it is not that there is no hope for the book. It just needs a lot of help. If the first part where it gives everything away was completely removed and a very thorough grammatical check was completed it would be a decent book and possibly enjoyable. It has the potential to be enjoyed but not as it is. For now those reading it would likely put it down at chapter three, which is where I wish I had stopped reading, and I can't say I would blame them.

I really enjoyed this amazing book, I was deeply hooked from the word go. It captures everything I love in a book. Mysteries, horror, thriller, the awkwardness of high school struggles and the innocent love and friendship. It is one of the most fascinating horror book I have ever read. It is so good and excellently written, I would really love to see such stories on the big screen. It's a must read to anyone who enjoys mystery and horror.
