I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
In my hometown there is a wonderful museum and in this wonderful museum there is the permanent mineral exhibit, which is my absolute favourite. Every time I’m at the museum, which is rather often, since I made my husband get me an annual membership, I first stop at the minerals exhibit to recharge. Sometimes that’s where I spend all of my time.
So, reading a reference guide (for lack of a better term) written by someone, who shows depth of knowledge and genuine enthusiasm in the topic is a real treat.
This is the first book on crystals and minerals I have found that took the time to explain things from the ground up, so to speak. It combines nuggets of scientific facts with spiritualism in a way that just works beautifully.
The author takes the reader on a very well informed guided tour of what crystals are, their colour and meaning, patterns and shapes, energy systems, using crystals correctly and safely, caring for crystals, wearing them and meditating with them.
It is a great source of information on all things crystal related and even though the author intends this book to provide the reader with fundamental knowledge to eliminate having to look up information, I will definitely use this book as a reference for the future.
Overall, I’m glad I stumbled on to this book of crystal wisdom and I know at least two people to whom I’m going to highly recommend this book.
One suggestion I would have, though, is to make sure to purchase it on paperback for easier referencing; I would just love to see the crystal images in colour, since my little Kindle is black and white.
Karen Frazer knows her stuff when it comes to applying crystals to your life. By the time I was done reading Crystals in Everyday life, I realized how much not only does the author live by this but also how much research she has already done through the years.
I’ve been making jewelry for a couple of years now and have acclimated a lot of gemstones and I wanted to learn more about their priorities how I and others can apply them to my everyday life, so when I noticed this book on Netgalley I had to try it and fell in love.
This book gives you everything you need from what kind of crystals to buy for what you need it most to how to apply it every day to, cleaning your crystals and more. I really liked the section where she took instances from personal matters and directed how to use a crystal during that time.
The downside for some will be there are no images in this book. It’s easy for someone like me to know what gemstone is named what because I use them every day, but to most, they have no clue what sardonyx or smoky amethyst is so, please note you will have to Google for images of what kind of stone you need if you’re not familiar with one.
I recommend this book to anyone wanting to apply crystals to their everyday life.
I feel very “eh” about this book. It is a good introduction to crystal uses for those who are looking to go a more spiritual route…it’s not witchy is what I’m getting at which is totally fine! However, there are quite a few practices mentioned in the book that are considered closed practices by certain cultures so do your research please! Overall it was okay, I did highlight some things that resonated with me, and yeah. It was alright.
I call bullshit because I haven't personally experienced this. And we all know if you havent personally experienced something it most definitely does not exist. Personal feelings aside, it was very informative! I never knew the shiny rocks go click clack thing was so deep. I'm glad to have scratched the surface. I feel like Fraizer covered everything she could. I also feel she approached Fung Shaue (probably spelling it wrong even though I obviously know everything about everything and all of my experiences are universal.) I feel like she approached the Chinese way of arranging your home to promote prosperity with respect. I really like Karen Frazier's voice. She keeps it real. Like "my family and I have medical, emotional, financial issues and we meditate with rocks to make it better" which is cool! I respect that! She doesn't approach it with an arrogance like "I am the high witch, from the bloodline of higher witches, and I know everything and my life is perfect." That's cool of Fraizer. My biggest complaint is that it doesn't have an index. (I wanna know what this rock I got for Christmas is supposed to be doing! Lol!) But it's fairly easy to find your way around the book anyway.
It’s me again, back with another review about crystals. Shining peace and light in your life like some kind of bizarre pixie. This title alone makes me feel powerful. Crystal. Alchemist. I feel like a black Edward Elric ready to transmute some stones and shower you all in good health and blessed tidings. Like most self help books this is more than a guide than anything else and it’s a fantastic one. I’ve adored crystals for years and have always been interested in learning more about their origins, power, and use. This book also goes into great detail about harnessing the strength of your crystals and even combining them for additional power and usage. My only complaint is that I wanted more pictures to go along with it! I am a very visual person and it would make it so much easier. All in all this is a great book for beginners and masters alike. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC. All opinions are my own.
Crystal Alchemist by Karen Frazier is full of practical magical everyday uses for crystals. I do wish there was more in the way of photographs or pictures as I tend to lean more on the visual side of things. But overall a nice well written book.
I received a free review copy from the publisher in exchange for my honest unedited feedback.
Great informational source of crystals rather than a dictionary type of book of crystals. Creat ideas of where to get them, colours, shapes, safety and so on. So a great resource to get a further well-rounded information surrounding crystals.
I was initially disappointed in this book. It has very few photos and gives very little advice on selecting crystals that one can't find in a Google search.
However, as I continued to read the book it does get better. It has many ideas for different methods to incorporate crystals into your life.
I did find the personal stories too similar and lacking in depth (all were kept brief so that could be the shortfall) they felt truthful but generic. I feel overall if you're a serious crystal enthusiast with previous knowledge this book will not be in-depth enough for you.
This book is geared more towards the novice and a first experience introduction to the power of crystals into your life.
As I said before a deaper explanations and pictures of the stones discussed would greatly enhance this book. I also feel that the chapters focused on cleansing and charging crystals should either be closer to the beginning of the book, or referenced in the sections recommending stone choices.
Overall I feel it is a solid attemp to help one learn to love the power of nature and the healing benefits of meditation and crystal use. I received this book from NetGalley for an honest opinion.
When a book has me taking notes I know I’ve picked the right one. It was an engaging read from beginning to end, including the areas that I am already very well versed in. I did find the section on lattice patterns confusing and not at all intuitive. That section just didn’t resonate with me at all even though I tried to embrace and understand it. That’s why this book has four stars. The section on affirmations was one of my favorites. I am presently using the abundant living affirmation. I did a rose quartz crystal expanding love meditation based on what I gathered here and 20 plus years of meditation, it was so peaceful and loving, perfect for these quarantine times. I have been using crystals all of my adult of my life (I’m 42 as of this writing) and found this book to still be helpful, inspiring, and affirmative of what I have experienced over the decades. Sometimes it’s not about everything being new, sometimes reading reinforces or help you to rediscover that which you forgot you learned. This is a worthy read for new crystal enthusiasts and seasoned crystal healers alike. I’ve shared this book and passages from it on social media, that’s definitely a ringing endorsement of the book and how beneficial it would be to those who are open to the energy of crystals.
Am I slightly embarrassed to have read this? Yes. Do I regret reading it? Nope! While I was interested in learning about Crystals and the transfers of energy that go on throughout your day, this book made it simple to grasp, at least at a beginner level. One of the main reasons I rated it a bit lower was because I almost felt at times the author was using some of this knowledge in an exploitive way towards the cultures from which these Ideas stem. That being said, there is no doubt that she is credible in her writing and has showcased a great love for the incredible properties that crystals hold. This might seem stupid to some people, but I truly believe in the power of the earth and how all things are connected one way or another, and I enjoyed learning about how to channel energy to live a more connected life. This book did help me feel a sense of comfort and I am glad I could learn from it. A section that I enjoyed was the part asking if you can wear too many crystals to which Fraizer writes, "I'm just going to go ahead and say no because I love to sparkle, and I just counted. I'm wearing 18 crystals at the moment as I casually sit around in my sweatpants typing on the computer" (Fraizer 177) I like this passage because it felt like I was almost reading an email from an old friend. I also like how Fraizer was able to utilize humor and a casual tone to better reach her target audience.
*~.Book Analysis.~* Just remembering that those were my impressions and opinion as a reader :)
Rating: 4 stars Reading period: Sept. 28th, 2019 Format: ebook Source: NetGalley – I have received this copy in exchange for an honest review. Release date: Nov. 01st, 2019
PROS I have a friend that always nags me to pay more attention to crystals and energy overall. While browsing, I found this title and decided to give it a try, to learn more about the subject. The book delivers and the author is very meticulous about all topics related to stones and gems, but in a smooth and quick way. I read the whole book in one sitting and I'm very inclined to start wearing crystals on a daily basis.
CONS As I am not planning on changing my whole life style to accommodate crystals, several passages of the book felt dull and tiresome for me.
COVER ANALYSIS For a non-fiction book, it's a pretty cover, clean and straight to the point.
RECOMMENDED FOR Readers interested in learning more about gems, stones and crystals <3
Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity to review prior to publication. My review opinions are my own and are posted across platforms.
I have utilized crystal magic for years as a green witch and believe in the alchemy of crystals . Crystals are a big part of my everyday life and I believe they carry properties that enhance , protect and enrich our lives. I was thrilled to receive this book for review to add to my own personal practice with my crystals and expand my education.
I loved this book and appreciate that it was both basic and advance teaching. I was glad to see that photos were limited as to many crystal books are all photos and not enough content. Not this book, the content is excellent, expansive and very informative. The author helps the reader identify and use each crystal to their particular needs. It is informative,, useful and a book I will refer back to in my crystal practice. Very well done to the author ! I will be buying a hard copy for my own library after publication.
I didn't realise how holistic the practice of crystal alchemy was. I was looking in my local library and this book took my interest by chance.
I had recently visited a metaphysical store for the first time to look at some witchy products and I've always thought crystals served a nice aesthetic purpose but not much more.
However, Frazier's scientific rationalisation of the energy possessed in all things that come from the earth and the relation crystal usage has to other spiritual practices like chakras, meditation and Feng Shui resonated with me.
This book has inspired me to incorporate crystals into my burgeoning personal spiritual practice and has made me think more deeply about the way in which I want to spend my life helping others on their mental, physical and spiritual healing journeys.
I found this book extremely informative and helpful when it comes to choosing crystals. I've used crystals for many years so am very familiar with them and this book has definitely enhanced my confidence in selecting them. As this was a kindle edition, it was quite difficult though to keep going back over things but I will be buying the actual book when it is released.
There are many, many books out there giving all sorts of advice and information about crystals but if your looking to know more about the selection of crystals and what they can do for you in certain areas of your life then this book can certainly help and guide you.
After an initial search to learn more about crystals I found Karen Frazier's acclaimed repertoire. Since my local library offered Frazier's "The Crystal Alchemist" on Hoopla, I decided to give her a whirl. Wow! The information provided a comprehensive overview, organized in a very thoughtful way that certainly met my needs. Such a robust compilation, brimming with helpful, practical references that served to peak my curiosity, and inspired me to take practical application in hand, as such a natural next step. After reading this, will purchase this book, and her other selections, as handy references for both professional energy work and personal use.
So organized, and so well-crafted. When you're dealing with a subject as big as crystals and what they can be used for, clarity is very important. I found it easy to move through this book, to find particular crystals, to process all of the details about them. For those looking to add crystals to their wellness, for those looking to feng shui their home and work, and for those who just love crystals and the connection to the earth and to crystal artistry, this book is excellent. You'll pick it up often.
As a beginner, I wish this book had more pictures of the crystals and a little more information on how to select crystals. Having said this I feel the book is pretty comprehensive. The section on cleaning crystals was most helpful to me. Also, the section about incorporating crystals into your everyday life was informative. I believe this book can be helpful for anyone who is a beginner in using crystals.
I voluntarily agreed to read a copy of this book supplied by Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own and in no way have been influenced.
The Crystal Alchemist is a great addition to any crystal lover's library. Frazier transcends your typical reference guide and tells us how to use and select crystals for different benefits in your life. I love the detail she goes into here and going into more than color but also stone structure and shape for the specific intentions you have in mind.
Whether you are new to crystals or have been drawn to them and used them for years I think you'll learn something here and be able to use this guide.
Many thanks to New Harbinger Publications, Inc. and Net Galley for the advance copy.
A book that takes you to the basics and beyond on crystal work. Frazier has a simple style that makes you believe you are just talking with her, which makes it surprising when you realize how much you have learned from her! From selecting the right crystal, how to safely prepare an elixir, create grids, and more, this book has practically everything you may need to get started in the world of crystal healing.
A great wealth of knowledge inside of this book. Frazier covers a lot of aspects having to deal with crystals such as which crystals work best for different situations and intentions, and how you can incorporate them into your daily life.
If you are slightly interested in crystals in a spiritual sense, I would 100% recommend this. I have learned a lot and this was definitely an impactful place to start.
I came across this book, when browsing through the ebook section at my local library. I love crystals, and enjoy reading about them . I would 10/10 add this book to my collection. Great reference book on crystals and the incorporation of other healing practices . The book consists of 5 parts : basics of crystals, how to live with crystals, ways to direct the energy of crystals, and the crystal habit. Great reference book to keep on your shelf!
Even though this book is a thorough introduction in a world that is totally new to me, I would not recommend it to beginners. The reason why is that there are no pictures in it at all. I hoped it would help me recognize the many chrystals, minerals, and gemstones I inherited. I will need a separate book for that purpose to make more use of the Chrystal Alchemist.
This is a great resource FULL of information about how crystals are helpful. It was difficult to see the full effect of the text in ebook form, but it did share many examples of how crystals effect the energy in a room.
This is a resource worth having and references back to as needed for anyone interested in crystals and naturalistic/wholistic life.
I've always been interested in crystals but felt daunted by the prospect of identifying, selecting, and using them. This book is rather comprehensive and covers all aspects from discussing the physical properties to meditation. I think this would be a good reference book or gift.
I loved this book! It was so easy to follow and understand. This a great book for beginners or those who already have knowledge. It is a great way to learn about Crystals and their healing properties!
Amazing book! Want to know everything you could think of to know about Crystal's, then this is the book for you. It teaches you how to choose the right Crystal's, how to focus Crystal's, how to recharge Crystal's, and what Crystal's are best for all different things!
Very informative! I found great use in the information provided. Recently experienced some needs for crystals and found this book very helpful. Thank you NetGalley for a copy.
I went into this book not knowing much, of anything, about crystal work. I think if I had it to do over, I may have started with Frazier’s beginner crystal book and then come back to this one once I had a knowledge base.
I liked the layout of things each color is commonly associated with and which crystals contain these colors. That section definitely made this book an invaluable reference guide.
Each section provides similar breakdowns, so that if one is looking for a quick answer it is easy to find, but if one wants/needs to look deeper, that is equally available. A great book for anyone who wants to learn more about the healing properties of crystals.
