{My thoughts} – Princess Truly is a fun little girl with a head of curly hair. She is super sweet and has a great attitude when it comes to pets and her friends. I really enjoyed reading this short little story and I cannot wait to share it with the littles when they get a bit older.

This book is going to make for an incredible beginner reader. It is written in a rhyme/poetry form. It has short sentences on each page. The illustrations are vibrant and help to add to the understanding of the story.

I look forward to reading more books in this series when they are released.

This is a rhyming story where Truly has super powers and enjoys many adventures. The illustrations are gorgeous. It is a cute story and girls will definitely love it. This is a lovely series. Highly recommended for Grades K-2.

2nd review..44 pgs. Truly is on a mission to help so many. She is invited to a friend's birthday party and ends up trying to save her dog Noodles and the friend's cat, Waffles, when they attach to a balloon and float out the window. Great adventures. Beautiful illustrations. Girls will love this series. Highly recommended for Grades K-1.

Thanks to the @kidlitexchange network for the review copy of this book - all opinions are my own. This book is perfect for beginning readers, especially those who are already fans of Princess Truly form her picture books. The picture are vibrant and the rhyming text will keep little readers attention. I am looked forward to the other two books in this series.

It’s a bit of a coincidence that we started this Acorn series during Women’s History Month, but it works well. This is such a great read for little girls.

I am a Super Girl (Princess Truly) by Kelly Greenawalt, illustrated by Amariah Rauscher, 44 pages. GRAPHIC NOVEL/EARLY READER. Acorn (Scholastic), SEPT 2019. $5 (PB). 9781338339987

BUYING ADVISORY: Pre-K, EL (K-3) - OPTIONAL

AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE

Princess Truly is going to use her superpowers to help a friend when a birthday party goes awry. Then she can show her friend how to use her own superpowers.

I would buy these books as paperbacks. The reading level is good for any early reader. I found the bouncy, sparkly, rainbow girly power coupled with rhymes a bit cloying.

Told in rhyming text, this story follows Princess Truly as she comes to the aid of her friend, Lizzie, who is celebrating her cat's first birthday. When Waffles becomes a bit overexcited and causes some problems, Princess Truly will need to come to the rescue, along with some help from Lizzie and her trusty dog, Sir Noodles. This short title will encourage some girls to have confidence in their own abilities to solve problems and make everything just right. I'm a firm supporter of any book that empowers youngsters, particularly girls.

Part of Scholastic's new ACRON series, which has titles written at a 1st grade level, this is a vibrantly illustrated and inspiring story that will appeal to a lot of young girls. Princess Truly, who also stars in two picture books, uses her brave heart and imagination to save the day in three chapters. The rhyming text is catchy and emerging readers will appreciate the fact that each page only contains two lines.

Princess Truly, with her sidekick pug Noodles, uses her powers to help others. In this one, Truly helps save a birthday party and two pets.

Truly is a fantastic little role model for kids. She and Noodles are always kind and helpful. She not only saves the day, but inspires others along the way. The story is told in a well done rhyme and the illustrations fit the mood perfectly.

The story is inane, I don’t like a message that you can literally fly if only you’re brave enough, and something about the way the black protagonist’s curls are the source of her magical powers strikes me as kind of racist, although I have to think about exactly why I feel this way.

Princess Truly is smart and brave, with a cape, rocket boots, magical curls, and rainbow power! She’s a super girl!

In this first book in the beginner chapter book series, she introduces herself, makes a magical birthday cake, and helps her friend to rescue her pet!

Princess Truly is a superhero who can solve seemingly any problem with her bravery (and her rainbow power), even saving the day twice at her friend's cat's 1st birthday party. I usually like rhyming books, but it feels a little forced in a reader.

Always love a fun, whimsical book and this one is great for my daughter (3 years) with curly hair too. I like the princess drawing tutorial in the back, my daughter really enjoyed watching me show her how to draw the character. Great touch!

Very early reader with 1 - 2 sentences on a page. Rhyming but the rhythm is sometimes "off" from the expected flow. The illustrations are colorful and adorable and the storyline is about girl power and confidence, helping a friend and has a cat and dog in it so wide appeal. K - 1st beginning reader book. There is a single page how to draw Princess Truly at the back but I think it is a little too intricate for most of the targeted book audience. 44 pages but does not have chapter breaks, and small handheld size book. Black main character.

Very cute.
It reads more like a picture book, with rhyming text.

I like rhymes, but it does make the sentence structure awkward sometimes, which could be problematic for a reader.

A little bit unrealistic, but what the hey. Short sentences that don’t jump page to page. Short chapters to tell different sections of the story. Also, rhymes in the sentences are cute.
