King David: Pursuit of the Heart of God

Rate this book
Whether you are a parent leading children, a pastor leading a church, or a commander leading an army, your leadership is a calling&;and responsibility&;from God. King David was one of the most effective leaders in history. His life exemplified times of suffering for his children, his people, and even those nations under his rule, however, his trials became testimonies of grace as he chased after the heart of God.
Grab a cup of coffee and join Pastor Mike as he offers contextual insights into David&;s journey through riotous and victorious living. His conversational style of delivery is ideal for both group and individual Bible study, and challenges the reader to seek after God&;s heart.

I appreciate the valuable truths shared by the author for Christians everywhere. King David was not perfect as anyone who has read the Old Testament already knows. Thus, it has always puzzled me when I read that he was a man after God’s own heart. I always wondered how could that be possible for someone who messed up so badly, especially after he was well established as the king of Israel and had accomplished so much good. After sharing about his Godly heart, his courageous heart, and his heart of grace, the author speaks to his flawed heart: a heart that wandered, was guilty, and to put it bluntly, seemed to be so much like the heart of every other man and woman who has ever lived. I am grateful for the care taken to spell out the difference between someone who has a heart after God’s heart as opposed to someone who is only for self. He wraps up by discussing a faithful heart and a worshipping heart. If you long to be more like Christ, I recommend you read this book for the helpful insights for pursuing the heart of God. I believe it will help you develop a stronger relationship with Christ rather than just having a hollow religion.

Very worthwhile and beneficial read... Didn't necessarily agree with everything, but the book brought about great thinking points; points for discussion; and thoughts that as of yet had not been considered. Highly recommended!
