I find the characters not as likeable as they are in the tv series. Hilda is particularly rude to her friends and mother. In my opinion the first book (Hilda and the Hidden people) was better because the 3 episodes that they combined didn't clash as much as this one.

,,Hildę” autorstwa Luke’a Pearsona kojarzyłam głównie przez serial animowany Netflixa, który od dawien dawna miałam zapisany do oglądnięcia. Potem przyszły dwie książki do pracy, które oczywiście zakupiłam bo coś ciągnęło mnie do tych historii. Ale dopiero niedawno (bo w czwartek) sięgnęłam po ,,Hildę i Wielką Paradę” i z miejsca się zakochałam w tej opowieści. Następnie odpaliłam serial i przepadłam totalnie.

O czym są te książki? Jak sam tytuł wskazuje o Hildzie, która jest poszukiwaczką przygód mieszkającą razem z mamą na odludnym pustkowiu. Można by pomyśleć, że to brzmi jak koszmar, ale głównej bohaterce to zupełnie nie przeszkadza. Uwielbia spędzać czas zwiedzając kolejne nieodkryte wcześniej terytoria i uwieczniać je w swoim szkicowniku a także rozwiązywać wszelkie zagadki. Zawsze towarzyszy jej w tych wyprawach Lisojeleń Rożek. Dziewczynka uwielbia dowiadywać się nowych rzeczy, zaprzyjaźniać się z różnymi istotami i nie boi się niczego a przynajmniej tak twierdzi.

,,Hilda i ukryjcy” jest wprowadzeniem w ten świat. Niesamowicie ciekawą, lekką i wciągającą historią, podczas której poznajemy całe mnóstwo postaci jak uwielbiające wszelką dokumentację i formularze elfy (uwielbiam Alfura), trolle, które za dnia są skałami, ale po zachodzie słońca ożywają czy tajemnicze olbrzymy albo puchate Fofle (uwielbiam!) idealne do podniebnych przejażdżek. Momentalnie można wciągnąć się w wir niecodziennych wydarzeń, w które życie poszukiwaczki przygód obfituje aż za bardzo. Negocjacje z elfami żeby nie doszło do eksmisji domu Hildy? Zbadanie zagadki olbrzyma, który pojawia się o północy? A może pomoc krukowi, który stracił pamięć i nie wie kim jest, ale coś czuje, że kimś bardzo ważnym? Proszę bardzo. Nasza bohaterka niczego się nie lęka.

W kolejnej książce, czyli wspomnianej już ,,Hildzie i Wielkiej Paradzie” przenosimy się do Trollbergu, gwarnego miasta, do którego zmuszone zostały przeprowadzić się Hilda z mamą po pewnych końcowych wydarzeniach z poprzedniego tomu. Zmiana otoczenia nie jest do końca w smak bohaterce. Mocno tęskni za swoim pustkowiem i nie do końca umie się przystosować. Miasto i chodzenie do szkoły wydaje się straszniejsze niż trolle, ognisty smok i kawaleria królików razem wzięte. Na szczęście Hilda może liczyć na pomoc nowo poznanych znajomych z klasy oraz niezastąpionego Alfura i Rożka.

Za warstwę tekstową odpowiada Stephen Davies a za przecudowne i niesamowicie klimatyczne ilustracje Seaerra Miller. Polecam wam te książki bardzo serdecznie jeśli szukacie czegoś lekkiego i wciągającego. Serial na Netflixie również jest wart uwagi. Odcinki są krótkie, mają dwadzieścia kilka minut (idealne do śniadania) a oprawa graficzna i muzyczna jest przecudowna.

And another swing and a miss for the Hilda tie in books. I was super excited to see how they'd flesh out the Hilda episodes/graphic novels (wasn't sure which way they'd go, honestly) and uh this was certainly a series of choices.

If you're the sort who isn't fond of changes being made just because they can, this is either one to miss entirely or one to read before you watch the Hilda series or read the graphic novel. Truthfully though, I'd skip this and just enjoy those two as they mesh much better and are better. Alfur gets to reason a few extra things out and that was nice, and Mom (why, oh why do publishers think American kids won't get that Mum is Mom?) has a nice moment or two and it's probably a trade up for her in terms of mistakes made regarding the Raven, though I prefer her hanging out with Hilda in the other formats so... eh.

This is a mashup of a few episodes and it fails to really bring any of them to life, sadly.

I have to say that I liked this less than the first volume, though it still remains a fun story.

I think that it might appeal more to the younger audience or the readers who aren't familiar with this series and Hilda yet. For me, it included some of my least favourite episodes andalso having read the original comic books and watched the show, I already knew what to expect. But it's still a fun, super creative story that I would overall recommend :)

Nečetla jsem komiksovou Hildu, ale hádám, že má mnohem větší šťávu, zejména díky pěkné kresbě. Trošku špatně se mi hodnotí dětské knihy neb nejsem cílový čtenář a obecně jsem tomu trendu čtení dětských knih z pozice dospělého moc neporozuměla, nicméně tenhle kousek podle mě nepřichází s ničím extra nápaditým.

hilda was a series i loved reading when i was younger so i'm rereading the collection and this is a fun book to read. hilda is a blue haired girl who goes on all sorts of adventures with her two friends, frida and david, along with her deer fox, twig. the hilda series is directed towards a younger audience and it encourages them to become more imaginative and adventurous!

I’m just not as huge a fan of the characters in this book series as I am the Netflix show. In the show they are all kind and supportive of each other, but in these novelizations it’s almost like everybody only cares about themselves.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as its predecessor. For some reason, the author decided to change around the order of events from when they happen on the show. Basically, take episodes 3,5, and 7 and move them around so that the beginning and ending of episode 3 bookends the other two and you have this book. If the changes made sense, I wouldn't mind so much, but I felt like a lot of subtle moments were lost through this and some characters made worse. Trevor goes from a pretty normal kid - remember, he quickly accepted Hilda at first when she moved to town - to the class bully. Frida, David, and Hilda's friendship felt forced and not believable unlike the natural course it took in the show. And little moments like Miss Hallgrim gaining respect for Hilda when she begins to see her in a new light were lost. Also, Hilda and Mom's relationship is put on the back burner to give more scenes to Frida and David, I suppose in an attempt at trying to force their friendship a little more.

Now, I will say that I haven't read this particular graphic novel (I've only read 1 and 2 so far), so it's possible this is how it was there and the show changed it. Either way, I felt the show's order to be much better for character building and not rushing things too much.

I'll still read the next one because I love Hilda, and just hope that it improves.

A fun mashup that takes influence from Luke Pearson's graphic novels, the Netflix adaptation, and a few changes of its own.

The second book in the series covers episodes 3, 5, and 7 of the show. It was interesting to see how Davies combined the plots of these three episodes to create their own story. There were quite a few differences because of this, with added details as needed. This made the book very much feel like its own entity rather than just a rehashing of what's already been done with the series. It is not a play-by-play of the show and instead combines elements to form a condensed plotline. Much more interesting than if each book had just focused on one episode and repeated what happened on screen.

As with the first book, the narration is straightforward. It was interesting to see the new spin on Hilda's adventures and the different take on her relationships with her mother and friends. The illustrations are equally wonderful with their simple yellow, brown, gray colorations and they pair well with what's going on in the story.

More adventure, magic, and suspense await readers in book two of the series. Looking forward to reading book three.

Ce deuxième tome prend des libertés scénaristiques et temporelles, la grande parade s'entrecroisant avec le clan des elfes perdus et l'exposition scolaire des curiosités (ça correspond grosso modo aux épisodes 3 à 5 et 7). En ce qui concerne les aventures d'Hilda et du corbeau, la réécriture est relativement importante (ce qui était déjà le cas de l'adaptation en dessin animé), on a donc une troisième version de l'histoire, de quoi renouveler l'expérience pour les lecteurs qui suivent à la fois la bande dessinée et la série et de manière assez sympathique puisque Frida et David y jouent un rôle. L'ensemble du tome était agréable à lire, même s'il s'agit de la partie que j'apprécie le moins : Hilda a du mal à se faire à sa nouvelle vie, son intégration avec les habitants de Trollbourg est difficile et l'ensemble a une ambiance un peu déprimante. La suite devrait normalement être plus positive, avec sans doute quelques nouveautés et surprises bienvenues.

This was a feast to read as there were some differences from the animated show. How she found the Raven. And more. It definitely had me delighted that there are so many Hilda stories and how they all have similarities but also differences. I love Hilda, she is a sweet adventurous girl though she may need to learn not everyone grows up in the wild. :P I did agree with her fully on the teacher and as I said before, some people shouldn't be teachers. I had lots of giggles while reading the story and I love Hilda and her mom's relationship! I do hope that Frida and David and Hilda become better friends.. because things were really stilted between them at times. And is it me or is Frida even more obnoxious about learning than normal? I cannot remember her being this much in the animated series..
I loved how all the stories came together as one and formed one big story.

The book follows Hilda as she is living in the town of Trolberg. She is an adventurer and enjoys talking to trolls, animals and elves. Everyone in the town seems to be unaware of all these magical creatures (apart from trolls they think they are evil). The story focuses on Hilda trying to nurse a talking bird back to life and rescue it ready for the bird festival which is important to the town.

Things I liked, lovely illustrations throughout, it was magical and a fun adventure.

Things I didn't like, this book felt like a sequel to another and the story jumped in as we should already know a fair bit about Hilda and her wacky world but I didn't and it left me a bit lost at times as the story skated over certain introductions.

This book was a surprise to me, as it was the first Hilda book which fell a little flat for me. Now, by that, I do not mean to say that I didn't enjoy it. I did enjoy it. Just as you would expect, this was a charming, sweet little story about a blue-haired girl, who loves to have adventures. This story sees Hilda and her mum living in the city, and Hilda is missing the wilderness very much. She is trying to fit in with her school friends, but adventure seems to have a way of finding Hilda - or is that, Hilda has a way of finding adventures? - and so she has a few mishaps along the way.
The illustrations are cute, bringing parts of the tale to life. Although this didn't quite hit the mark like other books on Hilda, I will continue to follow her adventures.

Stejně “dobrá” audiokniha, jako její první díl. Melodie, výkon vypravěčky, to všechno zůstává ve stejné kvalitě.
Opět se jedná o příběh pro děti, v tomto případě je to ještě více akcentováno tím, že se všichni dospělí chovají jako tupci, některé děti taky a hlavní záporák je zlý, protože je zlý (na dvou hodinách se těžko vysvětlují motivy zlounství). Chápu Hildu, proč chce raději magické než lidské kamarády. Ten materiál, který potkává v Trollbergu, bych za kamarády taky nechtěla.

Tento príbeh sme už so synom (6y) nemali tak načítaný ako prvý diel, keďže jeho komiksové spracovanie v slovenčine žiaľ nevyšlo. O to zaujímavejšie bolo sledovať Hildu, ako sa snaží zapadnúť a udomácniť v Trolbergu, ktorý je úplne iný ako údolie, v ktorom doteraz žila. Fantastické dobrodružstvá si ju ale nájdu aj v meste a knihe sa opäť podarilo nás strhnúť a zaujať. Čítalo sa to dobre, syn bol nadšený, takže vrelo odporúčam.

Pretty close to the Netflix show. There are some difference like Frida and David not being friends with her after their Lindworm adventure. It did confuse me how they got pulled off the Wonderful Trolberg assignment with Hilda then were happy to help her free the Great Raven especially Frida who risked getting in trouble to help Hilda. Overall I really like reading the series so far.

Cute concept and fast plot, but Hilda can be rather rude and the characters are very 2D (maybe i should've expected that).

My 8 year old loves Hilda. The show, comic, novelization all trigger his imagination in the best possible way. The books may not be the highest form of literature, but that doesn't matter. What matters is that when I read them to him, he loses himself in a highly inventive world. I can't give them higher praise.

Audiobook review.

I usually listen to quick-light fantasy books before going to sleep. I find it relaxing and I have conditioned myself to go to sleep faster. Anyway, this was one of these books. I love the Hilda show as it is quirky and adventurous, but not too exciting. I think the books capture this vibe as well, but without the visuals, it falls short. The graphic novel editions might bridge this gap, but I am rating the audiobook version.

A lot is happening in this one and the storyline is a bit different than the animation series as far as I can remember, but comparison is the thief of joy 😆 Still a cute adventure of Hilda and her friends in the new city where she just moved. I recommend it for young and old! Hilda and the Great Parade, book 2. 4 stars ✨️✨️✨️✨️

Hilda acts like a brat in this book, contrary to the Netflix adaptation. Also this book smashed 3 episodes in one, causing some conflicting storylines, and also rude jokes such as First World problems.
