Hepimiz bedenlerimiz birer nesneyiz. Bunun sonucunda dış dünyadaki nesneler ile ilişkimiz deneyimlerimizi oluşturuyor. Bilinç dediğimiz şey bundan ibaret. Teori özetle bununla ilgili.
Kitabı Vedat Milor bir videosunda önermişti. Oradan öğrenip alıp okudum.Benim açımdan farklı bir deneyim oldu. Farklı bir bakış açısına sahip. Bilince ilgi duyanlar için önerebilirim.

Absolutely wonderful. It is a written discussion between Parks and Manzotti on the nature of consciousness. We don't encounter this form of philosophical literature too often in today's world, but for me a dialogue is at the heart of philosophy. Manzotti has an unique contribution to this field, arguing rather than internal, consciousness is about the external; our relationship to the world is the heart of conscious experience.
A fascinating read and really deep food for thought. For a smaller book, this has a profound amount of depth. Cannot sing the praises of this small work loudly enough.

I didn't know what to think when I read this book in 2022, and I'm only a little less hesitant in 2026 to speak about Manzotti's conception of an external, embodied consciousness.
This second reading was impelled by a reading of Gerald Edelman and Giulio Tononi's A Universe of Consciousness, which elaborates a biological/neurological interpretation of consciousness. According to Manzotti, Edelman and Tononi's internalist account of consciousness fails because it attempts to locate experience in the brain without showing where and how thoughts are formed to present to the mind's eye/ear an ongoing movie/monologue.
Manzotti denies an internal movie/monologue and asserts instead that experience/thought are what the body itself encounters. While these dialogues with the dubious Tim Parks attempt to articulate how experience is a bodily phenomenon (and the thought that constitutes consciousness), I came away from the discussion with the idea that too much is left unexplained, particularly about recollection (memory retrieval) and how language and logic help to propel thought/consciousness down particular, non-embodied routes.
Neither Edelman nor Manzotti present complete pictures of what consciousness is and how it operates. Till the facts are all in, I favor embodied perception as a gateway to neurological processes that prompt action and create [sensory] memories, and it is a higher-order brain activity that enables language to become entwined with sensations so that both language and logic are then able to propel thought and shape memories in a disembodied fashion.
