Heroes Without Legacy: American Airwomen, 1912-1944

Rate this book
The title is somewhat misleading as this study is not adulatory. It does detail the accomplishments of particular women whose achievements were heralded at the time but have since been virtually forgotten (Amelia Earhart was in large part a press creation). But more importantly, it describes the social context of the airwomen and the raised but unfulfilled hope for female equality. Annotation copyright Book News, Inc. Portland, Or.
