Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) provided by the Author and Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an fair and honest review.

This whole series has been more romance than suspense. This romance was a wonderful thing to see build. The heroine has had such bad luck in her life and the last blow has left her really prickly about the men around her, especially a super sexy Scott. The suspense was all in waiting to see how the whole thing played out and Kaylea Cross did not disappoint in the ending action scenes. I liked this one the best of the series. Hold on for an emotional ride.

Former Royal Marine, Aidan MacIntyre, "Mac", is in Crimson Point to put distance between himself and a failed relationship in Edinburgh, Scotland. For months he had been more than interested in Tiana Fitzgerald, but she has always given him the cold shoulder, a very, very cold shoulder. With two weeks left before he leaves for a six month contract, he hasn't given up hope of warming up the lovely, red-headed Tiana. He has decided that nothing, not even threats from Tiana's past, is going to keep them apart.

Tiana Fitzgerald is a single mother to beautiful, bright 8 year old, Ella. After several disastrous relationships, the last of which put Ella in danger, she has sworn off men. She just can't trust her instincts where men are concerned. As bad as things are, they can always get worse. The sexy Scot just will not take a hint and it takes an earthquake for him to finally get to her. After saving her life and laying one scorching kiss on her, Tiana is rethinking her "no men" policy.

Tears...another series that's over (at least I think it is, maybe Ms. Cross will introduced some new peeps we don't know about yet).

Loved how patient Aidan was in winning Tiana over to his side. Evil, nasty bad guy to get rid of along the way to them falling in love, plus natural disaster or was it two. I also enjoyed that the three previous couples got their own chapter, and we see how well they are doing.

In the continuation of the Crimson Point series , we get more of the amazing child Ella, and her animal love,  as this is the story of her mother, Tiana.  Poor Walter will be sorely "abused" as an orphaned litter of kittens come to need him. The connection and support of all the guys, Beckett, Jase, Noah and their ladies are a key component for me in this series.

Aidan and Tiana have problems which are rather dire. The suspense and action from these issues are the bulk of the story. Rocky Ground kept me tense and worried all along.  Tiana went through hell and high water, but Aidan was right there to support her.  The romance went rather quickly, especially since Tiana had been burned badly, more than once. This seems common in romantic suspense though, with situations which bring people together with heightened emotions during events.

I always enjoy books from Kaylea Cross and I recommend them.

Excerpt:
The molten hunger in his eyes sent a torrent of heat rushing through her body even as her old fears bubbled to the surface again. “Aidan…” she murmured, dropping her gaze to his chest.

She’d done it. Given her unspoken consent. Now her heart was trying to pound its way out of her chest.

His hand came up to stroke her hair away from her face. She leaned into his touch, craving more. Craving this wonderful, incredible man that for some reason wanted her in spite of all her imperfections.

Her heart beat an erratic rhythm against her ribs. She’d never experienced anything like this before. Not with this level of intensity. This was…something she’d only read about before. Was it because of everything they’d gone through together? Because she’d relied on him for survival?

His fingers stroked against her scalp in a drugging caress that had her eyelids drooping. “What are you so afraid of?”

She looked up at him again. God, he was beautiful. And strong. And brave.

He was also going to rip her heart out when he left.

It wasn’t easy to voice her insecurities aloud, but she felt comfortable with him. Close to him in a way she’d never felt with another man. “Of making another mistake. Of getting my heart broken again,” she whispered.

He cupped the side of her face to run his thumb over her cheekbone. “I’ll not hurt you, lass.”

Her insides squeezed at the tenderness in his voice, the yearning in his eyes. No, he wouldn’t hurt her intentionally. “But you’re leaving soon. In another few weeks.” That was going to leave a scar, no matter how gently the cut was made.

“Aye,” he agreed, his gaze locked with hers. “But I’m here now.”

His words reverberated in the deepest recesses of her heart. He was right here in front of her, and he wanted her.

Any other arguments she had stored up vanished in the space of a single heartbeat. Before she could think herself out of it, she gave free rein to the need pulsing inside her, took his face in her hands and pulled him down to her waiting lips.

FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE PUBLISHER THROUGH INKSLINGER PR. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!

I have to say, I'm sorry that this will be the final book in Crimson Point! I've really enjoyed getting to know the author through this series, and have to say, this story is taking the series out on a really great finish!

I've always admired Tiana throughout the series, so I was very happy to see her get a happily ever after story! We're able to get caught up with everything that's been moving forward in her various situations, and also had some twists revealed as well! I didn't really like how much of a witch she was to Aidan, but given everything that had happened to her relationship wise, it was a very understandable reaction! I also liked how persistent Aidan was! I appreciated that he kept pecking away at Tiana, helping her to see how unfairly she was treating him!

Their story was slightly implausible, in so much as it felt born out of the stresses of the situation that they found themselves in. It moved a little too quickly for my tastes and that implausibility was never fully addressed to my way of thinking. I would have liked for them to take things a little slower initially, especially in light of the fact that nothing changed with Aidan's situation, instead of it all happening "off camera" and we're just told it happens later. That being said, it didn't detract from the story overmuch!

I have to say that this story was a pretty wild ride to the finish, and I'm glad that it ended on this high of a note!

This is fairly a new author for us but, we are slowly making our way through her series but, the more books we read by this author the more we enjoy her works and look forward to her newest releases.

I have to say so far that this current novel was by far my favorite in this ongoing series. This story had so many great character's that we loved pretty much each and everyone of them.

This story was a really enjoyable read for us.This story had drama, love, laughter, sadness, suspense and a great cast of character's and some that you could not help but, fall in love with them yourself.

Aidan -We loved the sexy Scot who was fun, loving, caring, possessive, protective, had a great sense of humor and more times then most melted my heart.I loved his relationship with both Ella and Tiana as it was precious and quite endearing.

Tiana- We loved her from the onset of meeting her with her sass, loved her directness, vibrant personality, was loving and caring , her protective instincts, who was a loving wonderful mother, and anyone meeting her could not help but love her and we were one of them.

Overall we loved the story from cover to cover. We loved the plot, the drama, lovers, suspense and that it was a courtship riddled with nothing but complications. Aidan and Tiana had chemistry and a relationship full of love and respect. We loved that the author made the daughter part of the courtship as well because Aidan loved that little girl like she was his own and treated her as she belong to him too way before he even loved her mother.
"So sweet and heat melting!"

The author created the perfect ending to this amazing story that had me bawling my eyes out and crying the last several chapters like a baby.Aidan's and Ella's last scenes together were so heat felt and totally heart melting and so amazingly perfect that it could melt a heart of iron.

Well done we loved it! Goes into the keeper pile to read time and time again.

Recommended read to all!

Heartfelt, intense and emotional read!
This is not a typical romance between a single mom and a guy. Aiden and Tiana’s story is a suspenseful heartbreaking and heartfelt journey of overcoming the odds to get what you want.
Tiana is a woman with a lot of baggage and trust issues affecting her ability to move forward.
Will that deter Aiden from pursuing her?
Discovering how their painful story developed and what happened resonated with #me and made this story a compelling one.

Rocky Ground centers around a single mom that readers have met in previous books. Her daughter is a precocious young girl who stole everyone's hearts. Tiana, however, is scared and overly protective after what happened (in Fractured Honor). Aiden is interested in Tiana and isn't going to let her prickly exterior push him away. Aiden has been the flirty foreign friend for the past couple books, so it was great to get his story. I have to say, with him being Scottish, I am interested in listening to the audiobook once it releases!

I think it's easy for outsiders to judge when they hear stories like what happened to Tiana and Ella. Tiana's story reminds us all that we can be deceived by the best. Tiana's difficult life has made her bitter and acerbic at best so seeing Aiden try to get through to her is painful. Aiden has his own issues too-his visa has been denied and he might have to leave Crimson Point. There is a lot going on in the story: Brian's upcoming trial or deal, Aiden's visa issues, Ella's father coming back into the picture after 9 years. Throughout all of it, you feel Tiana's overwhelming fear. It almost crushes you as a reader because its so tangible.

While this book might not be my favorite in the series, I think it will resonate with many readers. If you want a story that shows a woman's struggle through some of the most terrifying events a mother faces, Rocky Ground is the book for you.

  POV: 3rd
  Tears: no
  Trope: single mom
  Triggers:
Series/Standalone: series (since Ella and Tiana's story really starts in book 1, I think its important to read at least book 1 first)
  Cliffhanger:
  HEA:

Angel by Janie Crouch, Tumble by Adriana Locke, Defending Morgan by Susan Stoker...then you will probably like Rocky Ground!

The emotion I crave…

Thankfully more often that I could hope for, a series will come along that grabs, and holds, my attention. Great writing, interesting characters, intriguing situations, and heart and soul to bring it all together. Crimson Point is that series for me and Tiana, Aidan, and Ella added another story to savor…

I felt so much for Tiana’s situation. Trying her hardest to be the best mom she could, she didn’t always believe she made the best decisions. Her devotion to Ella was absolute, deepened even more with each threat to her daughter’s well-being. Her defenses were high but Aidan, just being himself, repeatedly prove how worthy he was of her trust. Swoonworthy? Oh, definitely! Even though distracted by stuff going in his own life his warmth and caring, on top of his charm and Scottish brogue, made him perfect for the new women in his life. He just had to convince them…

How he convinced them had me falling for him too! Fierce doesn’t begin to describe how both Aidan and Tiana were when push came to shove and this story ramped into high, high gear. Such a great read I’m starting at the beginning of the series so I can read it again!

This is the last book of the series about ex-military men living in the small town of Crimson Point. Single parent, hot Scot, some suspense. I knew I was going to like it from the start.

Tiana has had some really bad relationships in the past. She has closed off her heart and mind to being with anyone. She focuses on her daughter and that is it. Her daughter warms everyone's heart though and draws in Mac like a bee to honey. He adores her but Tiana still has her guard up.

The story takes place over a short time period--just a few days, but so much happens in that time. the biggest draw to this couple, for me, was the slow burn and the need to establish trust first. they were not jumping at each other from the start. Tiana is so skittish, it finally takes her aunt telling her she is behaving badly for her to open up to the possibility of friendship with Mac.

Loved seeing all the friends/couples again. Really loved the ending. Overall, perfect way to round out the series. Read them all!

This is Tiara and Mac’s story. You gotta love a man with an accent and a kilt. Mac brings that international flair to the series.
There is a lot of unexpected excitement going on in story- a real page turner. Nothing comes easy for Tiana. Her life is never smooth. However, she is blessed with a darling daughter. Ella is a sweetie, especially with Walter.
Now I always have an issue when a child is put in harms way. I just don’t like it when an author takes that route. So I was very disappointed in one particular long wrenching scene. The rest of the book captured my attention so much, I was able to still rate this book with 4 Stars.

Oh how I laughed and cried!

One of the best things about this series is the way Kaylea can make you laugh and cry in the same book. As I was reading along I was struck by her ability to make the common place situations so funny. It is a gift to get a reader to laugh out loud. Mac and Ella with Walter the Dog are an unstoppable trio. The HEA was brilliantly done and I wish there were more books! Bravo Kaylea this was an epic ride.

Oh wow.
This book had a bit of everything in it and definitely wasn't what I was expecting.
My heart feels like it's gone through the wringer. I spent so much of this book white knuckling my kindle. Definitely recommend and my favourite of the series so far.

Tiana is a single mom who’s made some bad decisions with men that have endangered her daughter, so now she doesn’t trust herself to choose a decent man. Aidan is friends with and working with the other men of the Crimson Point series and is very into Tiana despite her prickly exterior. The author creates an excellent disaster to bond them together. This book was entertaining, suspenseful with survival issues, had good friendships, and a sweet love story. I read the ebook, and I’m looking forward to reading more of the series. 5/5

Tiana Fitzgerald has sworn off men after the disaster of her last relationship, especially since she has to put her daughter Ella first. But every time she sees Aiden "Mac" MacIntrye it gets harder to ignore the attraction, especially since he is so good with Ella. But with every hour she spends with Aiden the more she realizes he is unlike any man she has ever met. He might just be the perfect person for her and her daughter.

Since the beginning of the series I have liked Tiana. She was a hardworking, single mom, who was just trying to do the best she could for her daughter. I really admired her. I understand her reluctance to trust men and push them away after learning about her past. The first part of the book is basically Tiana ignoring her feelings and pushing Mac away. Once she gets past that their relationship slowly grows and is beautiful. I loved the slow pace and the development of their feelings for each other.

I really liked Mac. He was loyal, dedicated, and a great guy. He is determined to change Tiana’s feelings about him from the beginning. I quite enjoyed how determined he was to prove Tiana wrong and break down her barriers. The scenes with him and Ella are perfect as well.

Overall, this was an easy read that I quite enjoyed. I loved the epilogue. It was so sweet and made a great ending to the book.

‘Rocky Ground’ didn’t appeal personally for reasons that I’ll readily admit are formed out of my own biases: that the whole story is built around bad, past relationships and exes, where the conflict has more to do with confronting one’s own bad decision making even with the small town support rather than the military-type, global-conspiracy kind of suspense I’m so used to Kaylea Cross producing over the years.

Never more so does it look more so like Hallmark with sexy times in Cross’s Crimson Point series; where issues that flare up are more domestic but everything is neatly wrapped up in a neat bow. The good and bad guys are so clearly delineated that an obvious volcanic vent in the rock separates them, where good and evil even more clearly separated. And that’s all well and good I guess, since it’s more than arguable—or at least blindingly obvious—that many people do turn to romantic fiction for the HEAs, the clear sense of good guys winning and the cosy, wrapped-up, feel-good endings when real life tends to offer the opposite…and that much I understand.

I can’t say that Aiden and Tiana HEA wasn’t hard won really, yet I couldn’t help but want a bit more grit/dark elements (or dare I say, tragedy or death, and not just for the bad guys?) where this series was concerned—where the protagonists have to deal with something more brutal that’s not written off the pages but on it, where picking things up in the most painful of ways should mirror some of the struggles faced in real life.

But I digress, as bent as I am on this somewhat sadistic path, even for fictional characters.

The bottomline is, I read ‘Rocky Ground’ through very easily (in fact, the Crimson Point books didn’t fare all too well with me), but wasn’t as moved as I have been by Cross’s other books. Tiana didn’t seem like a character I liked too much, while Aiden’s charming self—along with his persistence and his integrity—fared just a bit better. For the stalwart Kaylea Cross fan however, ‘Rocky Ground’ does have a variety of inserts to make the story flow: an evil ex, a natural disaster, a predictable but rather absorbing climax before the confetti-throwing, fairy-tale ending. It’s just not a story that stayed with me much.

II've veen excited for Tiana's story and finding out she would be with Mac was great. Tiana is gun shy when it comes to men after her few bad experiences and she has her daughter's well being in mind now. Mac has always liked her and he is tempting with his looks and accent for sure. Due to unforeseen circumstances that literally shook things up and made them closer and see other sides of each other.

Thar was a lot going on that I didn't expect, I liked the story and characters. I dunno how I feel about the many things that happened around them, maybe a tad too much? It had a lot of things going on. I know the previous books had some suspense in it here there was a lot more so to speak. From the whole ex who who turned out to be a bad apple and all the other action parts.

I liked Mac respected Tiana's reasons and walls, he didn't go alpha and go bulldoze over it. Mind you the guy is still protective and strong type but a good guys. He did things at her own pace and thoughtful of the child too. The development was good since it started way back before and slowly inching towards more. They got to know each other more during the emergency disaster and that helped, Tiana did have clouded judgment before that, tough but vulnerable.

Things aren't over and the end parts happen fast to tie all lose ends. Good thing there was a nice little epilogue to make it all better. I don't know if there will be more of this series but I liked them. This book had probably everything a hot hero, action, natural disasters ,single moms, good ex and psycho ex. Plus a visit to old Crimson Point characters for updates. This wasn't a favorite but it was enjoyable, easy read for the weekend.

Aiden really loves his job here with Beckett, unfortunately his work visa is expiring and it doesn't look like he'll be able to get it renewed. This is especially disturbing since he wants to stay and he wants a chance to be more than a friend to Tiana.

Tiana is very protective of Ella more so than ever since the truth of her ex Brian has come to light. In this book she has another problem, Ella's father, Evan, the musician who left them high and dry now wants his parental rights. By paying back child support he will also be able to meet Ella. We get to meet Lizzie, Tiana's aunt who is quite the character. She gives us plenty of insight into their lives. Tiana also has a meeting with Evan prior to the visitation which will supervised by a court advocate. The meeting went well but it would still be Ella's decision.

You know of course things never go totally smooth, right? Aiden has a meeting with his lawyer and Tiana has one with hers since they are both in the same place they travel to Portland together. Ella is dropped off to a friend's home for a long anticipated birthday party/sleep over.

Neither meeting was what they expected and to top things off an earthquake hits while they're in the elevator leaving. Did I mention all hell breaks loose?

Plenty of interesting events as Aiden and Tiana make their way home. Tense moments, added suspense and a whole lot of romance and tears.

I think this was my favorite of this series, well at least until I read the latest.

WOW! What a way to end a series! I am sad this series had ended but I was thoroughly intrigued by the story. This is about Aidan and Tiana (and Ella). I am fascinated by this trio. I am sad that poor Ella had to go through a lot in her young life. It starts with Tiana not liking men because of her bad choices in men and they hurt her daughter. Along comes Aidan and he starts breaking down her defenses. Then the worse thing happens, an earthquake. Tiana and Aidan were in Portland when it hit. From there, they had to make their way back to Ella. Along the way, these two start falling in love with each other. It's unfortunate that the bad guy takes advantage of this earthquake to exact his revenge on Tiana and Ella. The last few chapters had me in tears as well as on the edge of my seat. Once the threat was eliminated, it was truly sad that Aidan had to leave the two gals he loved the most for his contract work. Once these three are back together, it is all smiles and happy tears. I am so happy these two found their happily ever after. FANTASTIC job Kaylea! I would highly recommend this book and series!💞💖👍

I enjoyed the narration. The book started off a little slowly to me with Aidan trying to break down Tiana's walls. It was completely understandable why she built them so high and so sturdy, but I thought she might have let them down a bit for Aidan.

He wasn't just some guy she met. He had been vetted by the people she trusted most with Ella. Aidan and Ella got along famously. Their relationship was endearing.

The direction the book took was surprising to me. Lol. I had the story all planned out in my head based on what I was reading about Mac (Aidan) and Tiana. Was I ever WRONG!!

From Tiana and Mac being in Portland, through most of the rest of the book, there was almost nonstop action and suspense. Most of it completely unexpected. At least, I wasn't expecting it.

I thought the scenes between Mac and Ella, as well as the ones between Evan and Ella were incredibly sweet. I liked that Mac, Tiana, and Ella got their HEA surprising me almost each step of the way. An enjoyable romantic suspense. I thought it was the last of the Crimson Point series, but I was happy to see their are other books coming.

Tiana has been badly hurt and betrayed in the past, her precious daughter put at risk unknown to her, thankfully she was saved but now Tiana is extremely wary of any men being around them other than those who have already proved trust worthy. Aiden/Mac is already head over heals for the fiery redhead and her daughter, he doesn't push because he senses something from her past. Phew! What an action packed, harrowing and terrifying story. This is intense, filled with danger and suspense, there is a little relief in the form of a litter of kittens and a few hot and steamy scenes, just enough to calm my racing heart from all the terror and fear. It almost bordered on a thriller read with the events that evolve. But out of everything love and friendship wins out over every force that was against them, it was inspiring after all the pain and fear. Little Ella is such an amazing young girl, so adult in her outlook for her age, shows empathy to those around her and especially caring of animals, im glad she gets her happy ever after as well. Brilliant story to add to a magnificent series.

Book 4 in the Crimson Point series. This is without question the best book of the series. I didn't know how Ms. Cross would be able to top book 3 but she did. It was a great ending to a great series. OMG Aiden is a superhero! There are two dramatic scenes that are expertly written and a beautiful HEA ending. Wonderful characters--Walter and Ella especially. Everything you could ask for in a romance/suspense novel.

I have to say that I really enjoyed this series, especially looking back. I have been on a romance kick for the past year and have read dozens of them. I was looking for something with more substance than the trite, banal, basic romance and I found it in this series. This is my first series from this author--her descriptions of dramatic scenes and development of her characters is excellent, and I love that she includes characters from her previous books in each subsequent one. Most series basically drop the previous couples once they have gotten together and I would really like to continue their story too, so I appreciate how much we see them through the whole series. Once I got over the degree of violence in the stories and knew what to expect I fully enjoyed them.

This was an exciting conclusion to the Crimson Point series with Tiana and Ella her daughter falling in love with Mac. They had been through so much with the Brian incident but she learned she could love a man, Mac, again. There is so much action as Tiana and Mac lived through an earthquake and get back to Ella who was at a friend's house when it all started. They lived through it only to have to fight off Brian who was out to kill them. Mac saved them time and time again, with the help from his friends, Beckett and Jase. Mac fell deeper in love with his girls before his work visa had run out and he would have to do a contacting job then return to Scotland. In the end they worked through all these obstacles and got their happily ever after and Mac, Tiana and Ella became a happy loving family. I highly recommend this fantastic series.

Rocky road to their future💕

Aiden and Tiana have a rocky start to their relationship due to all the events occurring around the time they meet and the vulnerability of her daughter Ella.

Aiden would like nothing more than to be with Tiana but her walls are impenetrable like Supergirl! However, Tiana finally loosens up and finds herself with Aiden two hours from Crimson Point when tragedy strikes. Luckily, Aiden and Tiana are together and this pulls them closer and creates an unbreakable bond😍

Loved this story and how Aiden is with his two lassies...and I teared up reading the epilogue....so special❣️A must read author and series, who I never fail to preorder her books as they are nothing short of spectacular😀

Tiana, Aidan and Ella

An enthralling read and recommend it to all. Tiana had lived a life with many regrets and now has promised herself not to let her guard down with men.
She has raised Ella on her own and finally managed to become qualified as an OT. Her last boyfriend, Brian turned out to be a peadophile and was outed after Ella went next door to Beckett and told him what he had done. Beckett decked him and. Called the police.
Tiana is very protective and meets Aidan a Royal Marine Scotsman, through Beckett and cuts him dead. Aidan though has deep feelings for Tiana and continues his attempts to become involved. Great humour is shown as he keeps coming back.
There is a lot more to the story so buy a book and enjoy the sweet but feisty tale.

Oh hell, that was an awesomely hard read, as a single parent that lighthouse scene was freaking emotional wow I'm trying to hold back tears while I'm yelling at Ella to run talk about anxiety-inducing.

Well, that ending was the BEST ending ever after going through the massive gambit of emotions this book brought out in me I have to say the ending was worth it all.

Rocky Ground was a truly emotional and magical story that really brought my heart back to Crimson Point and cemented how much I love this place and the Characters from there.
