Mind the Gap: English short stories for pre-intermediate with glossaries - Level 3
Mind the Gap is a collection of three short stories which take place in London.
In the first story, Sophie, a French teacher from Paris, comes to London for a job interview. But, once in London, she loses her bag. Will she find the person who has her bag so that she can catch her train back to Paris?
In the second story, Max sees a beautiful woman waiting for a train on the Underground. She's not taking the same train as he is, but he wants to meet her. What will he do? Will he jump on her train or let her go and never see her again?
In the third story, a couple visit a jewellery shop in Camden Town. They decide not to buy anything and leave. But then, the shopkeeper accuses them of stealing some rings. Did they steal the rings? Will they find the thief before the police arrest them?
The English Easy Readers series are easy English stories for learning English. A glossary defines words in the story that may be difficult for readers. Although easy English books were originally written for native speaker children, they now exist for teenagers and adults who want to learn English. They are widely available and deal with topics more relevant to mature language learners.
Easy readers may be adapted from literary classics or they can be original stories written at an appropriate language level. Even though easy readers use simplified language, they do not lack narrative depth or complex themes. In fact,they cover the same range of themes as books written for native speakers.
Our English Easy Readers are ideal tools for extensive reading. Extensive reading is reading for enjoyment at a comfortable level of comprehension. Extensive reading reinforces vocabulary and grammar and develops general reading skills and fluency in a foreign language. It is not meant to be hard work. There are no tests at the end of our books. Our Pre-intermediate Level follows the guidelines set out by the Common European Framework Of Reference for Languages (CEFR) to ensure that it is written at the correct level for pre-intermediate students of English.
The levels according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages:
A1 - Beginner (level 1)
A2 - Elementary (level 2)
B1 - Pre-intermediate (level 3)
B2 - Intermediate (level 4)
C1 - Advanced (level 5)
C2 - Proficient (level 6)
