Easy to Read Bible Summary for Teens and Adults

Rate this book
Have you ever wanted to get an understanding of the entire Bible for yourself or to teach the Bible to your children? Many Christians hope to have this understanding, but for whatever reason, it can be too overwhelming to read the Bible completely. Easy-to-Read Bible Overview for Teens and Adults is a Bible summary that covers all of the major stories and themes of the Bible from the first words in the book of Genesis to the last words in the book of Revelation. It is written in clear and simple language that is easy to understand. It is intended for a person who always wanted to get a general understanding of the entire Bible, but for whatever reason, never read all of it. It is also ideal for teens to learn all about the Bible on their own, or for parents to use to teach the Bible to their children. Interwoven through the book is also an explanation of how all of the Bible connects together and points to Jesus Christ. While an overview is never a replacement for reading the Bible, summaries can help us as we visit the actual word of God and read it regularly. As a biblical reference, Easy-to-Read Bible Overview for Teens and Adults is an excellent way to introduce the Bible to teens who may not yet be able to read the entire Bible on their own—and for parents, too, who need an extra hand.

Great summary. I've always read parts of the bible but have had a hard time trying to piece it all together, and have been too intimidated to read the entire bible. This is a great summary to tie it all together, and now I feel I have a better background to read the entire bible and be able to understand it.

Not bad, but in many ways oversimplified.

This is a summary of the entire Bible. Each chapter is about a particular book or section within the Bible. It's a good summary but there are parts or specific wordings that I personally don't believe, and I am a Christian. In the author's writings of the Old Testament, he mentions Jesus but Jesus doesn't exist until the New Testament. Even though there is the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost), Jesus (the Son) didn't become an entity until New Testament so he could not exist during the Old Testament. That would be God, the Father.

Some of the chapters such as the chapter on the Book of Proverbs merely provides a listing of proverbs.

The book of the Bible that I understand the least is Revelations. The author clearly explains what John prophetized. It´s a bit clearer to me now. I did not know, though, that John was a prisoner on the island of Patmos when he wrote this book. I thought he just lived on the island voluntarily.

Good but basic summary of the books of the Bible.

"Cain became jealous of his brother and killed Abel. This was the first murder in history."

"People multiplied greatly on the earth. Over time, the people became increasingly evil. God shortened their lives to a maximum of 120 years because of this. (There is nobody alive today over 120 years old.)"

"He sent a rainbow to Noah and told him that, every time we see a rainbow, it is God remembering that he will never again wipe out mankind with a flood."

"Everybody at this time spoke the same language. To force the people to spread out over the earth, like he wanted them to, God confused everyone's language so people could not understand each other. When they tried to speak with each other, it sounded like they were babbling. This caused them to call the tower that they built the Tower of Babel. It also caused the people to spread out from each other and fill the earth, like God wanted them to."

"Joseph said, 'God allowed everything to happen the way it did so I could save people's lives. Although you sold me to the slave traders and meant it for bad, God meant it for good.'"

"God created everything that existed. Everything Job had was because God created it and gave it to him. It was not right that Job was acting like the things that he lost were things that he himself created and were rightfully his. They were gifts from God."

"Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life; but he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin."

"Whoever walks with the wise will become wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm."

"One who is wise is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool is reckless and careless."

"Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper is a fool."

"A soft answer turns away turns away wrath, but harsh words stirs up anger."

"Better is a dinner of just salad where love is, than a full course meal and hatred with it."

"Jesus said to not worry about your life, what you eat or drink, or what you will wear. The animals and plants do not worry about these things, and God your Father takes care of all of them. You are much more valuable to him than those are."

"Don't judge other people; instead focus on fixing your own flaws so you can be a better person."

"Peter was the main person who started the Christian churches in Israel and the surrounding areas. Around the same time, the apostle Paul was also teaching the crowds about Jesus. Paul, more than anyone else, spread the message about Jesus all over the world. His teachings eventually led the Roman Empire to follow Jesus, a main way that Christianity spread throughout the world."

"Our spirits groan inside us because they cannot wait to be with God in heaven."

"Do not let the sun go down on your anger. If you are angry, do not commit sins due to your anger. Give no opportunity to the devil. Let no bad talk come out of your mouths, but only talk that is good for building others up that it may help those who hear it."

"Be godly and content with what you have. As long as we have food and clothing, everything else is extra blessing. People who desire to be rich often fall into temptation and destroy their lives."

"God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control."

"Whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin."

"Whoever desires to love life and see good days. let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."

"This is the confidence that we have toward God, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we ask of him."

This pairs so great with the Bible. I used it side by side for Bible study and devotional and the author does a really great job of explaining each book while not trying to insert too much personal perspective. I also really appreciate how with some of the longer and deeper books, he doesn’t even try to attempt summarizing them. He just says “be sure to read these carefully”. This isn’t meant to replace the Bible in any way. But it’s a WONDERFUL study aid.
