For fans of Pamela Clare’s acclaimed I-Team and Colorado High Country series…

An I-Team/Colorado High Country Crossover Novel

Fire chief Eric Hawke knows it’s only a matter of time until the next big wildfire. He’s done everything he can to prepare his crews for the inevitable. When high winds turn a small blaze into a raging crown fire that threatens Scarlet Springs, he, Brandon Silver, and the rest of Scarlet FD put their lives on the line to save the town and its citizens. But the one thing Hawke hadn’t planned for was bureaucratic red tape and waffling from higher-ups that could turn this crisis into a catastrophe. When his requests for support go unheeded, he’s faced with the prospect of watching the town he loves burn to ashes.

But sometimes help comes from unexpected places.

Marc Hunter, Julian Darcangelo, and Zach McBride are in the mountains above Scarlet Springs for an interagency training exercise when they see a single wisp of smoke to the west. What begins as a fun day of playing cops and bad guys soon becomes a battle against time, as they join forces with Hawke and members of the Rocky Mountain Search & Rescue Team to save friends trapped by the fire.

Together, they pit their strength and courage against a terrifying and unforgiving force of nature. Will it be enough? Or will the ravenous flames claim lives—and leave the people of Scarlet Springs forever scarred?

5 The gangs all here Stars

Well I started the New Year off with a bang from two of my favorite Colorado gangs. Hey look that rhymed lol. Anyways this book was pure genius. I love both the I-Team series and Colorado High Country series. So taking current events like the wild fires and two of my favorite series and putting them together in one action packed, heart melting book was like giving all the fan-girls and guys a bookgasm. Seeing all my favorite past characters as they fight to save lives and the town of Scarlet Springs had my heart racing almost the whole book. I don't know if you have read my review on Dead By Midnight An I-Team Christmas, but after I read that book the I-Team wasn't the only one to suffer from PTSD. I swear thinking my Marc was shot had me losing my shit! So when Marc and other beloved heroes almost lost their lives in this book I had some really ugly fan girl freak outs.

After scaring the crap out of my husband and kids by yelling every 20 mins or so " OMG Noooooo Please NO NO NONOONONONOOOOOOOOO." I had to go into my bedroom with the door closed and read so as not to disturb my family. To say this book was action packed is an understatement. It was pulse pounding, edge of your seat. I loved every freaking minute of it. Of course Marc, Julian, Nate, Gabe, Jesse, Eric, Vicki, and Sophie were the shining stars of the book for me. Marc Hunter being my all time favorite Pamela Clare hero. He is just panty melting delicious. Any book with Marc in it will be a hit for me. Truly though this book had a great plot. After watching and praying as wildfires devastated California it was moving to read a story related to it with a shining light on the everyday heroes that put their lives on the line in these situations. I don't know about anyone else but it gave me a look into how hard their jobs are. I mean I know they are hard but getting a deeper look into all they do to protect us, all their families go through worrying that they may lose their loved ones, it humbles me. And even though this book is a work of fiction, you can tell Pamela Clare did her research. This book really was a fangirl dream and if you liked the I-Team or Colorado High Country series then this book is a must. And if you haven't read them and you are looks for some great Contemporary/Romantic Suspense books give them a try.

First responders all over Scarlet Springs, Colorado wake to a red alert, warning of expected high winds later in the day. Eric Hawke, the town’s fire chief, has worked tirelessly to prepare his residents by promoting prevention measures. When he sees a small plume of smoke in the distance, Eric mobilizes to investigate and resolve before this turns into a bigger disaster that could threaten the surrounds and the town.

If you’re a fan of the author and the Colorado High Country & the I-Team series, you will think you’ve reached nirvana when reading this story. It is a stroke of brilliance to create a crossover story between the two series. It has everything...tension, suspense, community and romance. Every character has some role, all highly relevant, as the fire grows and rages out of control. The beginning lays firm ground for quietly beginning the background tension as you can slowly sense what may be coming. There are multiple storylines within the main plot and the transitions are handled skillfully with perfect timing.

I loved the updates from all the characters almost as much as I did the central story. Sometimes the suspense was so tough I had to put the book down to take a much needed breath. This story hit every high mark and is just flawless. I’m leaving out so many details because there’s so much I cannot isolate one subplot over another. This is the best of both series, offering strong themes around community, resilience, family and honor. I loved everything.

Holy moly! This book was intense. I have not read all of the books to both series, but I did recognize quite a few couples. This was great in the way that it brought all these books together and lets the reader check in with these couples.

What was even better is that the storyline will have your heart pumping. This scenario is real life. To be in the minds of all these characters as they face a situation that is not only scary, but can happen and has happened to real people had me riveted to the pages.

I was terrified for these characters. I was rooting for them to beat back that fire and survive. I cried when family members left behind got devastating news and I also rejoiced when they got good news. You can't possible read this book and feel nothing.

Well done Pamela Clare!

Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) provided by the Author and Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an fair and honest review.

An I-Team/Colorado High Team crossover? Be still my heart!! I can't wait to read this book. I'm picturing a hot bubble bath, dozens of candles and a bottle of wine. Close to heaven. It wasn't that long ago that California experienced some deadly forest fires and this book is chilling in the depiction of people caught in the path of a wildfire. This is not a traditional Romantic-Suspense. The romance, for the most part, is about couples from the previous books in both series, but it's really hot. The suspense is the fire bearing down on the town of Scarlet Springs. I couldn't put it down. I cried. Really a wonderful, fantastic, edge of your seat book. If you have read all the books in both series, you will LOVE this book!

Scarlet Springs Fire Chief Eric Hawke knows it has been a dry, hot summer and all the pieces are in place for a catastrophic fire, like the one that destroyed the town in the late 1800's. Early one morning his worst fear comes true. As Eric and his crew battle the entrenched bureaucracy and the fire, he gets help from an unexpected source. I-Team Hotties, Marc Hunter, Julian Darcangelo, and Zach McBride, are training in the forest near Scarlet Springs and join in the search and rescue efforts. The fire knows no boundaries and doesn't respect friendships or loved ones, it just burns everything in it's path.

A firefighter is a rescuer extensively trained in firefighting, primarily to extinguish hazardous fires that threaten life, property and the environment as well as to rescue people and animals from dangerous situations.

It starts with a small flame ... then the wind picks up and embers are flying everywhere. In a moment it becomes a raging fire ... racing to the small town of Scarlet Springs.

The firemen have no immediate back up and members of various law enforcement agencies are in the woods participating in a training exercise using paintballs. There's also a group of 40-some children along with their counselors who haven't heard that they are in the way of a huge fire.

There's panic as people are trying to save pets and forest animals ..... evacuating as many people as they can .... and the women worrying about their men who are at the very core of the raging inferno.

CHASING FIRE is packed with action, and thrills. Jumping off the pages are the fear and worry that envelop the reader. It's a nail-biting experience as a helicopter is shot down by a drone and the four men survive the crash, only to land right in front of the fire.

For fans of Pamela Clare's series of the I-Team, this is a gift of almost all the characters in that series. The reader actually gets to see how their lives have progressed since the last book was written.

Many thanks to the author / Victory Editing NetGalley Co-Op / Netgalley for the digital copy of this Romantic Suspense. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Pamela Clare is the master (mistress?) of suspense. This book nearly killed me a couple of times.

A story that brings the I-Team characters together with the Colorado High Country characters, Chasing Fire starts slow. Relaxed. Just another day in the neighborhood. And then things go bonkers as a wildfire kicks up.

Having just gone through the bizarre experience of being evacuated from a wildfire where my neighborhood was dead center of the burn, I was wondering if I could enjoy this book. That was a scary week for me and I'm still pretty shaken up. Well, I did enjoy it and I did not want to put it down. The experience may have been a little richer since I have now lived through such a thing, but I think I would have been mesmerized regardless of recent events.

The story takes place in Scarlet Springs, the setting of the Colorado High Country series. Some of the characters from the I-Team series are in town to train with the locals as they practice rousting meth cookers and violent and polluting vagrants from the campsites and wilderness in their area. Meanwhile, another I-Team character is helping out at a camp for Lakota kids, teaching them to climb (I-Team fans will know who that character is -- he's mine, by the way) along with the CHC characters who started the camp.

Clare has done her research and understands how a wildfire can start and burn out of control. She's on top of all the variables and, yes, the suspense is amazing. This series started a little slower, possibly because she had to dampen her suspense skills due to potential rights infractions with her former publisher. She's free to do as she pleases now and, being the mistress of suspense, she can pour that tension into her stories to her heart's content. It's a wonderful combo -- suspense and rescue action -- so good. From the beginning this has been a solid series, but it's gotten even better and better with each book.

PC is also the master of pulling a ton of characters into a story and giving them each a meaningful part to play. They're there for a reason and the story -- as populated as it is -- is coherent and organic. It's a gift.

I'm always telling people to read Pamela Clare. Now that she's indy, I recommend her even more highly. Her books are well written and copy edited better than most pro-printed books. And they're indy-priced, so you don't have to pay $13.00+ for the privilege.

I recommend reading both series to get the most from this book. Mainly because you'll know the characters beforehand and there are a lot of them, so that helps.

A great book with lots of peeps from both series. This is more the story of all our previous heroes fighting a fire that is threatening Scarlett. There is a little new romance in there too, but mostly it's watching all our favorite couples help save the town. There's lots of drama and suspense...who survives the fire and who doesn't... Plus we learn more about Bear's history. It was so good.

5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

HANDS DOWN THE BEST ROMANTIC SUSPENSE I HAVE EVER READ. This is a fast moving, action backed book. I mean from beginning to end it reads like a Dwayne "Rock" Johnson movie. ACTION ACTION ACTION.

We get little snippets of our couples from this series and a couple from the I team series and then a fire starts and soon everyone is working to put it out. To save people. To save animals. To save the town.

Forest fires, especially during dry season are no joke and this small fire is soon a massive blaze and many of our beloved characters are placed in major risk. Who will live? Who will die?

I could go on and on but I dont want to even lightly spoil this books. I am not a re-reader but I WILL be re-reading this one!!!!!

There's a quality in this author writing that I don't find in every ones that I read (and I read a lot !). I was so happy when I heard that she was doing a crossover with two of her excellent series : the I-team (suspense romance) and the Colorado High Country (Contemporary). Pamela Clare could have give us fans a story that would be pleasant to read, giving us glimpses of the characters we love so much, in any other days, happy in love, that would have been fine, but she did much better than that ! She gave us action, danger and the sense of community you can find in both series. After all, for those men and women, every day life is saving people, when they're not saving the world :p Even knowing how talented this lady is, I was still surprised by how gripping this story was and I was at the edge of my seat all along my reading, feeling the characters pain and worries, afraid for them and almost feeling the heat of the wildfire they try to fight.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is thank you, dear author, for writing such amazing stories and creating these wonderful human being that feels real, no matter how fictional they are. I'm so grateful for it. I have so much love for these characters, I'll never get enough of reading about them.

You can probably read this book as standalone, but you definitively should look for the other books anyway because you'll meet courageous heroines, and badass, funny and sexy guys. So what are you waiting for to meet them ?

Pamela Clare is a powerhouse in the romantic suspense genre, penning phenomenal nail-biting tales. Chasing Fire is no exception and with it she offers her seventh book in the Colorado High series and ninth in the I-Team series.

Eric Hawke has spent a great deal of time and effort trying to prepare his team at the Scarlet FD for the worst case scenario: an uncontrollable wildfire that will burn down his town. When a small fire breaks out in the nearby mountains, he and his crew will do everything to stop it but wavering officials threaten to turn it into his worst nightmare.

When Marc Hunter, Julian Darangelo, and Zach McBride, who were training in the mountains, see smoke, they don’t hesitate to join Hawke and the Rocky Mountain Search & Rescue Team to do everything to help, but will it be enough?

OMG I don't know how Pamela Clare does it. She has been writing for a very long time and one might think her storytelling could wane or be impossible to top, but she’s written an even better, unputdownable tale in which she incorporates characters from two of her series in an expertly balanced way. She takes her characters from sweet, sexy moments to real life threatening ones with vivid descriptions that take the reader on a heart pounding adventure.

Fans who have enjoyed either series will find that Chasing Fire hits the perfect emotional stop. If you’re new to her, perhaps you’ll need to keep closer track of the characters with the chills and thrills will be there nonetheless.

Lemme just start with how much I love Pamela Clare for writing this and blessing us all with this gift.

As far as the plot goes, I like Dead by Midnight more because the whole hostage & baddies situation is much more my thing, but the whole forest fire is just as nerve-wracking. I shed many, many tears, especially when all hope seemed lost.

NGL, the I-Team characters will always be my favourite out of all PC characters, but reading this made me realize how much love I truly have for the people of Scarlet Springs. I love that we get to see them all after their HEAs; Eric Hawke as a father (!!!), Chaska and Naomi expecting (!!!), Joe Moffatt and his manbun (I forgive this), we even get to see Brandon's and Libby's POVs (the infamous couple Joe caught doing the do in his bar lmao)!

For I-Team, we basically got everyone in here except Javier x Laura and Holly x Nick. Hunter x Darcangelo bromance is alive and well!!! I miss their banter. They've been best friends for 8 years now, IMAGINE--

There's a line in this book that says Julian's in his forties now and I have so many emotions about it.

Sighs. I read too fast and now there's no more books to read. I think I'm gonna go reread Dead by Midnight.

Reread: January 2021

Decided to randomly reread this one and oh gosh I forgot how intense it is!!!

Belongs to the following series: Colorado High Country #7, I-Team #9 by Pamela Clare. Something a little different. There isn't a clear single couple in this story. The story goes from person to person covering multiple view points. It is centered on a single event, a wild fire that threatens the town of Scarlett Springs and the surrounding area. We see characters from both series, Colorado High Country and I-Team, working and worrying together. I could list all the characters but it would take too much time. While I hesitate to call it a romance, there is definitely some romancing going on. But the main focus is the wildfire and the people working together to save the town from destruction.

It may not be what I expected from Pamela Clare but I still loved it. I was afraid I might get lost with so many characters but I didn't.

4 stars is a little generous, but I'll stand by it. Basically, the author set too great a task, and then did an admirable job executing it.

This combines the two series, which means that a lot of time is spent on introducing everyone. There are 10+ from I-team and 10+ from CHC. Some are couples, which makes the introductions quicker, but still, this would have been a lot cleaner if only a subset of each team were involved.

That said, the adventure is fantastic. The tension among the firefighters was palpable, and the heat from the forest fire warmed my Kindle. Despite bouncing back and forth between the numerous characters, the writing was taut and focused. There's also a romance buried in there somewhere, but it was secondary to the story. As with most of the CHC series, there is no real bad-guy. A few people make unwise choices, but there's really no one to shoot at. The enemy is the fire, and the victory is surviving it.

I hope PC's next book is a little more intimate. I'll be sure to read it.

I was so super excited when I knew this book was being written. These are two of my absolute favourite series ever and putting them together – BAM! It turned out even better than I could have hoped.

Pamela Clare is the queen of romantic suspense so the book is, um, tense. Like, GO AWAY I’M READING YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND I HAVE TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS TO MY FRIENDS tense. But if you read Pamela’s stuff, you’re used to that.

It’s also OMG I’m melting heart-wrenching. The relationships between these characters are well established and watching how they come through for each other…I want to live there. I want to know them all. I want to date them all. I want to – well, okay. You get it.

And it’s Pamela Clare, so you get a great ending. Those are my favourites. Five enthusiastic stars.

If I have known you for any length of time, by now I have probably recommended both of Pamela Clare's excellent contemporary series, I-Team and Colorado High Country. She is the author I most often recommend to others looking for a good read, in fact.

Her latest, Chasing Fire, just released,......an exciting cross over novel where her two literary worlds collide then must come together to save each other and a town caught in the path of an apocalyptic wildfire.

I started this book at 9 p.m. and was up util 1:45 because I could not put it down until I knew what happened: who lived, who died, what was the aftermath. It was an intense read in that it brought to heart pounding life the bravery of fire fighters, the capricious nature of a gust of wind that can change everything, the absolute terror of a wall of fire that can incinerate everything--and everyone--in its path in mere moments.

As usual, the author's greatest strength is her nuanced, well developed characters. While many of her main characters from both series play a huge role in this crossover and feel like old friends, even a character who was mentioned in passing previously gets spotlight this time around and you become 100% invested in what happens to him. Like lump in your throat, tears in your eyes, heart pounding as you turn the page invested.

Go buy it. Go buy all her books. You can thank me later.

Was this book basically an extended epilogue to the author's two series? Yes! But somehow it made me recall how much I enjoyed the first few books of the I-team series. Everyone makes an appearance and we find out who is where, how many kids they have etc. set against a fire and danger.

First Impressions
Chasing Fire is a novel that isn't your typical novel from Pamela Clare. This felt like it was written for fans of both of these series. This is more of a story that combines many of the couples from both series. So the actual romance isn't heavily focused and in fact its really only a handful of chapters. So keep that in mind when reading this one. Now I haven't read the Colorado High Country series that this book is primarily based on, however, I was fine with it. I knew going in that it was going to be about and the plot was beyond worth it. And if you are new to the series it will make you eager to dig into it.

First Line
A thunk woke Eric Hawke.

Summary
Fire Chief, Eric Hawke, knows that their charming mountain town is bound to be hit by a wild fire and all he can do is try to prepare as best as possible. But when a small fire started by some campers escalated into a wild mountain fire due to some heavy winds and now it threatens everyone in the whole area and his boss is a bureaucratic individual who isn't looking for solutions to save lives and their town in Scarlet Springs. But there is help that comes from unexpected places....members of the I Team have come for training but end assisting in the efforts....but end up trapped by the fire and it will take some miracles and fierce determination to survive....

What I Loved
Wow....this book was so amazing! At first it started slow, but I feel like that might have been done on purpose. Although this can be common with this author, you need to be patient with her writing sometimes, but then once the suspense plot picks up then you will be easily swept away by the story. There are many couples that we are introduced to in the beginning, but once we get into the firestorm of the fire, then you will be on the edge of the seat and you won't want to put it down. I loved the thrilling edge that the author implements in this one. There was a bit of a romance that I did enjoy, I kinda wish that had a bit more focused though. But I feel like this type of story was done intentionally to bring a combined story for the readers, kinda like a gift that sometimes authors will do for their readers. And even though I kinda wish I had read this series first, I still was able to catch on fairly quickly and wasn't too lost. An aspect that I truly loved was seeing the couples from the I Team series in this book. It was fun seeing them so involved in this story.

What I Struggled With
The beginning was a bit slow and it took a while for the pacing to pick up....but it does pick up around 30% or so.

Overall View
Chasing Fire was a masterfully brilliant story that digs deep into the heart and courage of wildfires and the people that fight these fights, delivers true emotional detail that cuts deep to the reader and is guaranteed to evoke emotional reactions that is beyond stunning in every moment!

Steam/Spice Explanations

Simmering cup of tea---soft warm touches and light intimacy
Warmin' by the fire- a medium level of sexual tension, a balance of sexual and emotional intimacy, lighter on the details in the sexual moments.
Steamin' up the room -the sexual content is more explicit in the language and tone, heavier amount of sexual scenes.
Blazing fire to the building-The prime focus is the sex scenes, scorching hot, and could burn one. Less focus on the emotional intimacy to the relationship.

2.5/5; 3 stars; C+

Not great. In fact, this book was disappointing to be me because it was a stew pot of every character from two series. It was kind of like a long epilogue set in a crisis situation for interest sake.
I gave it three stars because I thought the wilderness firefighting and rescue info was really well done.

This book right here, will be the book to beat for one of my fave reads of the New Year!!! It kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finished and I was absolutely riveted!!!

Pamela Clare did a fantastic job with this book and the fact that it was a crossover and had the I-Team in it was even better.

I honestly felt like I was right there in the thick of things, and I have a very new and profound respect for firefighters. I have no idea how they do it....

I recently watched the movie "Only the Brave", which for me allowed me to picture this all as it unfolded. Especially the scene when they deployed their covers as the fire was sweeping towards them....I actually got pretty choked up when reading this scene!!!!

Well Done Ms Clare on a fantastic book....I cannot wait to read more by you this year!!!

The I-Team series has been a favorite of mine, I have re-read the books many times. So seeing the characters from that series mashed up with the Colorado High Country was great fun! It seemed like the I-Team characters were a bit out of their depth not in a big city, but that didn't stop them from jumping in and helping and boy did they have a lot to help with. Lives were at stake, bad things happened and often you weren't sure if our favorite characters would make it or not. There were many times as I read that tears were rolling down my face. In the end though, things were great. Sure people paid a price, but things can be bought again, people on the other hand, those are more precious and ours all made it through. I loved the party at the end, loved that everyone got back together, to celebrate the town and new friendships.

I have to be honest I wasn't sure just how a book combining characters from two long running series would play out. However, I should have never doubted Pamela Clare! This was a wonderful novel, full of suspense and drama. All of our favorite heroes from the I-Team and Colorado High Country are all united in fighting a wildfire that is threatening the lives of everyone in Scarlet Springs. This book had all of the intensity of her I-Team series but on a larger scale because of how many lives are at stake. Definitely five stars for this fast paced novel.

It’s a good read, well researched and with lots of action and character interaction. It re-introduced virtually every couple and their backstory from this and the I-Team series; with all of them either having sex, just had sex, or thinking about having sex when we dropped in on them. However, there was this oddly scripted feel to the whole thing. It read like the screenplay for a major action Hollywood movie, complete with various players periodically staring back at the smoke and having inner turmoil. It was distracting and only touched the surface to just get their actions and reactions to what was going on rather than be invested in why and what they were feeling.

They are back..I have to admit that I had not read the I-team but I have read the group from Scarlett and I love them, Eric Hawke is my favorite and will continue to be so. This book broke my heart, and I was at the edge of my seat and biting my nails the whole time. We get a brief reconciliation with the ones we know and love and excitement the whole way but eventually we get what we want..I don't want to give spoilers but if you have read books of this series than you want to grab a copy. Enjoy!

Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) Voluntarily left my own thoughts and opinions.

Every synonym of intense describes this book. Fiery, emotional, fanatical, extreme to the nth degree!! The story plays out like the wildfire its about. Starts out with a small flame but soon you are engulfed and overtaken with the intensity of fiery emotions wondering how you are going to survive.

This book was crazy good. The majority of the characters from both the I-Team and Colorado High Country get equal facetime along with plenty of time in peril. As usual the author writes with such realistic descriptions you feel the flames and the pain that every character is going through.

Another Pulse Pounder

Nobody beats Pamela Clare for pulse pounding, heart-wrenching action and she doesn't disappoint with her new novel, Chasing Fire, an I-team/Colorado High Country crossover story about a wildfire that threatens the town of Scarlet Springs.

Marc Hunter and Julian Darcangelo join Deputy US Marshall Zack McBride for a day in the mountains on a little  inter-agency training. What could go wrong? Well, with danger magnates like Marc & Julian (known affectionately to fans as Marcangelo) anything is possible. Sure enough, the pair are soon helping CHC heroes Eric Hawke and Chaska Belcourt as the mountain town of Scarlet Springs is threatened. But the hero of the day is Eric Hawke, the young fire chief who puts everything on the line for his town.

It's helpful to have read some of Clarke's earlier works in both the I-team series and the Colorado High Country series.  Someone new to these characters might get lost. OR maybe get interested enough to read the stories that have come before. It's nice reading about favorite characters like Jack & Nate West, Gabe & Kat Rossiter, Joaquin & Mia Ramirez.  Kudos to Clare for keeping up on all the kid's names.

A fun read for fans of romantic suspense & Pamela Clare. But better have tissues to hand!

I finished “Chasing Fire” by Pamela Clare last night and I’m still tangled up with emotion. What a terrific book. In my opinion, it’s her best yet. In the book, she brings together beloved characters from her I-Team romantic suspense series and her Colorado High Country (Scarlett Springs) contemporary romance series as they work together to stop a wildfire and save Scarlett Springs. The events are based on the 2016 Cold Springs fire near Nederland, CO (the town on which the fictional Scarlett Springs is based). Ms. Clare’s descriptions of the fire and the actions and emotional reactions by the firefighters and law enforcement fighting it are spot on. “What a terrible thing to be split between duty and the desire to protect loved ones.” This is the reality and fear of all firefighters who work in and around their hometowns. And then there are the firefighters, so many of them volunteers, who come from elsewhere: “The volunteers were working in this smoke, trying to save a town that wasn’t their own—and they weren’t getting paid for it. Marc had to admire their spirit of service, even if he thought they were a little crazy.” As someone who lives in a very rural area of northern Colorado and who has experienced both a fire evacuation and a spouse as a volunteer firefighter, every description rang so true and struck so deep. Of course, this wouldn’t be a Pamela Clare book if there wasn’t a lot of suspense surrounding her heroes. If you are a fan of either or both of Ms Clare’s series, then you definitely need to read this book. If you’ve not read any of her works, this might not be the best book to start with, unless you don’t feel the need to understand the characters’ back stories, for it’s fire that is the real main character in the book.

I decided to wait for a big block of time to read this straight through.
I started this book and discovered that most, if not all the previous main and supporting characters played key roles in this story.
I needed to dedicate time to follow each arch of this book.
There is a new couple to follow: Brandon and Libby.
I love how each book has been so different. This book's title says a lot. Chasing Fire (!). The previous books have mostly been about rescues in mountainous terrain.
Everyone in Scarlet Springs pitches in. There's more grittiness, crime and danger, heroes and heroines. As always, there's Colorado's beauty and fire's ugly and terrible destruction.
Very well done and this is a book that I would love to read again.
4.5 stars! I intend to read the I-Team series and enjoyed these new (to me) characters in this book.

Merging the I-Team and Scarlet Springs together for one big battle against Mother Nature was freaking brilliant!! Almost all the characters from both series were present, making this a mini reunion with all the feels! I went from gut-wrenching worry to relief in the span of moments, flipping pages as fast as I could to see what was happening and Clare didn’t disappoint! The story gets the adrenaline flowing on so many levels, delivering a sound storyline, fantastic characters, and an ending that will leave you satisfied!
