A carefully crafted selection of short stories based in the same world as the realistic and gritty fantasy novels 'Almost a Myth' and "Slaughter by Strange Means'. A soldier running from a burning city, a woman dreaming of a peaceful life past, a warrior on a deadly mission, a lawman investigating a murder with no all these unique tales are set in a familiar yet distant world in turmoil.
My suggestion would be to read Almost a Myth in order to truly appreciate these stories. Short and sweet which made for easy and enjoyable reading.
They proved to be amazing supplementary reading for the Conor and Gray series as a whole. Every story added depth and colour to the world, peoples and places that otherwise might go unseen in the original series.
The Fire: Tales from the Southlands gives its reader a greater understanding of the complex world and characters the author has created outside of just Conor and Gray.
All the stories are worth reading and discovering. It's hard to pick a favourite but three I really enjoyed were, Horses, D’ael and Music
