A friend gave me this book way back in autumn 1991. She had gotten it from a friend, who possibly got it from another friend. She said she was just passing it on and hoped I'd continue the cycle. Back then I never threw away or gave away books, so I kept it after I read it. I haven't read it since then, and now I remember why. These stories are AWFUL!!! Whether the theme is lesbian, straight, sci-fi, gender bending, or what have you, they're all just cringe-inducing. There's only one I've liked so far (I'm about halfway through the book right now) and that's a story about a Native American girl who is in love with a shaman who turns out to be not what she expected. Hopefully I'll find a few better stories farther along; I don't remember what else is in here.

Update: I finished the book, and there was only one other story I liked: the one about two married couples and a gay male couple. Otherwise, the stories in here were really lame.

This book is to erotic literature as Super Mario 64 is to video games.

I read this years ago & remember how disappointing it was. Either I'm just into more directly expressed sexuality (porn) or this book was too soft & amorphous. The stories were like disconnected dreams that did little to feed the libido. For people who don't want to look at a fantasy head on, but prefer subtle references to sex activities & dreamy scenes bearing no real relation to real sex/life, this may be your type. For truly great erotica try Anne Rice "Exit to Eden" or Beauty trilogy.

This was my very first purchase of anything a Roddick.
This intriguing anthology has something for everyone. I was very glad to find in the future that the abridged version of this and similar books are on audio format.

This was awful, stupid, cringeworthy.... and soooo cheesy!!! it was almost my first DNF book, but i forced myself to finish it because it is short. Wooow , I cannot even describe how dumb these stories were ! NOTHING SEXY ABOUT THEM! Poor writing, awful dialogue, unsexy sex ....

The introduction is the best part of this book. The stories get cheesy, but the intro is like an essay about womens sexuality and feminism, Its fantastic.

Definitely not as good as the 2nd book in the series (which I read first). Excellent concept, though!!!
