I don’t use the term “bully” lightly. However, I have no qualms about using it when it comes to Max Cooper.

Arrogant.
Aggravating.
Annoying.

Those are just a few of the names I have for him that start with the letter A. I haven’t gotten through the rest of the alphabet ... yet.

From the moment I met Max three years ago, he was nothing but an arsehole. The only reason we put up with each other is because we share the same best friend.

Then, everything suddenly changes when Max is involved in a horrific accident that sets him back three years. He remembers his friends, but here’s the real kicker: He doesn’t remember … me.

At first, I think it must be a cruel joke, but then I see how serious he is. Over time, I get to know the real Max Cooper. The one who can be sweet, funny, and kind. The one who shows me he’s not such an arsehole after all.

Then, the inevitable happens. I fall for him.

Just as things between us begin to balance out, I lose my own equilibrium, and I don’t know why.
But, despite all of this, no one is prepared for the real terror that’s about to unfold.

Lucy met Max three years ago and from the first moment, he was a jerk. He told her he just tolerated her. Max hates her and she doesn’t know why but she doesn’t want to be a victim anymore. That's why she decided to fight back and be as nasty as him. Until the accident! Max was in a come for three days and when he woke up he couldn’t remember anything that happened in the last three years. It means he became so nice to Lucy! And then the terror… She started having panic attacks, weird dreams, getting threatening messages…

I knew Jaimie Roberts by her very dark books! This one wasn’t as dark but still should be proceeded with caution and it’s somehow a bit different with what I’d read before by her! This one was heavier on the suspense. Even though I could guess the twist VERY soon, but still it was an enjoyable read and could surprise me yet again. It’s well-written, fast-paced and contains flashbacks. Told in dual POV (mostly Lucy’s), 1st person and it’s a standalone novel. Overall, really liked it and hope you enjoy it as well!

This book is a NA (or YA? I can never be sure about that, sorry) and it is also a romantic suspense.

Normally I rarely read YA/NA books and romantic suspense but I wanted to try this book because amnesia is always an interesting topic for me. Also, a dear friend recommended it to me.

(And I am sorry my dear friend but this book rubbed me the wrong way, mostly because I HATED THE HERO!)

*********************************************

The book is normally told by the heroine, Lucy, but there are a few chapters told by the hero, Max, himself. It is a book of 237 pages with a reasonable pace but sadly, on page 33, when she had her first panic attack upon seeing a middle-aged man in the hospital, I guessed all the mystery and in the end, it was what I’d thought it was.

There was only one moment when I was really shocked (the revelation of what Max did) and the rest was all what I'd expected. If I were the writer, I wouldn’t put such clear hints.

I read SCARS from this writer and it was incredibly good so I expected nothing less but I was really disappointed with this one, unfortunately. Its easy predictability, the poor execution of a potentially interesting plot and unlikable characters made me unhappy and what is worse, for the first time, a Jaimie Roberts book didn't make me feel - I never felt their love at all!

*********************************************

I wasn’t happy about where the book starts and how it starts. We are told that the hero and the heroine had a hate relationship for the last 3 years however, we never see the hero and the heroine when they were frenemies. We get to meet them after Max has amnesia and doesn't remember her.

I wasn’t able to connect with the characters at all because what they told they did to one another during those 3 years sounded so very childish to me. Their practical jokes sounded so very juvenile.

And later, in the second half of the book, we learn that “a little bit of communication” would have prevented all those years of hate and whoops, I am face to face with my pet peeve: I HATE IT when couples hate each other because of assuming things. Assumptions stem from lack of communication, which is stupid, and I hate stupidity!

I WILL NEVER EVER FORGIVE THIS HORRIBLE HERO FOR WHAT HE DID TO THE HEROINE JUST BECAUSE HE ASSUMED!

Even at the end of the book, when she forgives him, I was saying, “Stupid stupid girl, why don’t you leave his worthless as* and go find someone else?”

So, with a hero I fiercely hated, this book loses me in the romance part.

It had already lost me in the suspense part with its easy predictability and now with this hero that I can never forgive, the romance in the book also doesn't mean much to me.

*********************************************

The Plot:

Max wakes up after an accident he had with a retrograde amnesia and he cannot remember his last 3 years.

In those 3 years, Max was mean to Lucy and there was a hate relationship between them. However, we don’t get to witness that period. What we know is what happens when he doesn’t remember that he hates her. Now, with his amnesia, he practically falls head over hills in love with her and she is so forgiving that I thought she was an idiot!

How can you forgive a person who bullied you and was so mean to you for 3 years? I wouldn’t! Well, she did and I was extremely pissed. And when she forgave him, he did even worse and finally, she forgave him again!!! Stupid stupid girl!

*********************************************

When Max and Lucy become lovers, strange things start to happen. She gets threatening messages and starts to have strange dreams. She also starts to have panic attacks so she begins to have therapy.

From then on, things spiral out of control and slowly, the mystery about both Max and Lucy is solved one by one.

*********************************************

I was able to feel the love between the boy in her dreams and Lucy but I never felt the love between Max and Lucy. Their chapters didn’t have the chemistry and emotions to make me feel it.

Also, I never loved Max so I couldn’t connect to Lucy when she forgave him so easily and practically jumped on his lap. I would never forgive a man like Max no matter how much I loved him. I would do everything to kill my love for him and move on!

Just a few questions to Lucy would have saved 3 years of a life-time full of unpleasant and cruel moments!

“You hurt me, Max. I never knew I was hurting you. I was oblivious to your pain. You could have told me, but you chose to take the coward’s way out. You chose to instead seek revenge in the most despicable way …”

*********************************************

Recommendation:

All in all, this book lost me on various points but still I am not unhappy for reading it as it was still a bit interesting despite all the issues I have mentioned.

If you are a less critical and more forgiving person, I am sure you can enjoy the book more.

*********************************************

Safety:

I wouldn't say readers that need safety would like this book. It includes many ugly things.

Out of respect for this writer whose many books I loved, I will say no more because I don't want to give anything even under a spoiler tag. Just be forewarned that it is not safe. You can always pm me, though :)

“There’s retrograde amnesia where you lose existing, previously made memories. Then there’s Anterograde, where you can’t form new memories. Then there’s Transient global amnesia where you experience memory loss for some hours. Then lastly there’s Infantile amnesia, which I think a lot of people have. It’s where they can’t remember the first three to five years of their life.”

What a ride !! Its guaranteed to alter your perception and have you dropping your jaw at every  turn. It was like going down a mountain in pitch dark at night, you're hugging the curves and just waiting for the accident to happen!
“If you move faster than the speed of light, you end up living your life in the dark.”
Jamie has unleashed her mindfuckery in full force and written a book with so contorted a plot that you won't believe what is just unfolding around you.
There's a girl called Lucy Lou. She's always had confidence issue cause she's been led to believe she's annoying with Just one of those faces !

description

Naturally shy, timid, reticent, her friends, esp the boy she likes thinks “You are a miserable, stuck up, frigid little cow.”
What a blow to fragile ego of a girl already trying to hide in her skin.
The boy in question-Max Cooper has an agenda against her, it seems.
He meets with an accident and his last 3 years of memories are completely wiped away. So now his charisma is turned on full, he sweeps her off her feet with right amount of flirtations, compliments and charm

"There’s something quite beautiful about a woman who doesn’t think she is. Like a full blooming rose that can never see itself. It’s admired by many, but has no idea why.”
Starting their relationship on a clean slate, the hate is replaced by friendship that inevitably turns to love.

But wait !! IT'S NOT REAL!!
Everything written in this book is a mirage, whatever you see or feel will change halfway down the book. So I was astounded!
Did I just read that Right?
Did I just hear that Right?
Did I just feel that Right?
Cause I'm sure there's something wrong somewhere, Right? YES!!!
I had been a lost soul, travelling in limbo, hoping that one day someone will catch me.

The rug will be pulled from  right under you and the world you see will flip on it's axis. Wrong becomes right and right becomes sooooooooooo wrong I dunno if it's worthy of forgiveness!
And then there's the hidden source of paranoia and hallucinations lurking in the background throughout the plot. An unseen, unheard ominous presence that will definitely send a shiver down your spine whenever that evil entity nearby. Danger at every step, threats at every curve, mystery on the brink of unraveling but still so much unsolved.
First, panic attacks, then— as my therapist calls it— intimacy issue, and now paranoia.

description

Pick up this book and you will be drenched in a dark-ish love story(?) You will fall in love with characters, you will cry when they are cut open and bleed for them.
Be prepared to be so engrossed you will forget to eat, drink and shower like me. Read the entire book in one stretch without stopping for a break and cried in the end. Heartbreaking and poignant, frustrating and baffling, cathartic and absolving, you'll be moved by it for sure.

After suffering a past loss in her family, Lucy Rhodes seems to be getting on with her life at university, as she has a solid group of friends and looks forward to her future. While she tries to be nice to others, it just doesn’t work with one particular person and this causes a sequence of events that Lucy cannot reverse.

“What if I did offer myself up like that and he shuts me down? My whole life I’ve had to deal with that shit.”

Max Cooper is known for his good looks and easy personality except when it comes to Lucy. For three years, they have been feuding but suddenly they have a chance at a new beginning as Max extends an olive branch.

“Maybe the universe meant for this to happen. Maybe we were always meant to get along but our stupid pride got in the way.”

As the friendship for Lucy and Max grows, their feelings toward each other intensify on an emotional and physical level. With such an attraction, Lucy seems to find that other person she can connect with is Max. But as all these new feelings come to the surface, all she’s known starts to become unclear.

“I gave everything to you!” I snap, wiping away a lone tear that falls.”

What transpires in this plot is suspenseful, intense and completely addicting. From the beginning, I was intrigued and was forming possible theories for each plot point. Immediately, I felt for Lucy because of her need not to stand out and be accepted for who she is. Plus, as her connection to Max changed from enemies to lovers, Lucy’s happiness came through the pages. However, the ever-present tension of the truth looms until it all unravels.

Amnesia is a romantic suspense with twists that will keep you turning the pages until the very end. Jaimie Roberts is an author that delivers with a bang!

Lucy Rhodes and Max Cooper had known each other for three years but they had never seen eye to eye. He made her life miserable until an accident changed everything. Now they had an opportunity to turn over a new leaf but it might turn out to be more than they bargained for.

“If you move faster than the speed of light, you end up living your life in the dark.”

This book got me intrigued from the get-go. I kept forming theories with what’s going on because there were so many possibilities. Once things started to unravel, it was easy to figure out the story direction but that didn’t take away my enjoyment of the book.

“You have nothing to fear with me, Luce. You know that, don’t you?

I liked both characters and they had good chemistry together. I understood their actions and motivations. One thing I wish is for them to have more sexy times lol!

Amnesia is a story of starting over. It would appeal to readers who like a story that takes you on a wild ride.

Downloaded it by mistake.
Bully once, bully forever. Bullies don't deserve any forgiveness or kindness.
Not my kind of a story by all means.
I don't think the attempt to see smth good in all ppl makes any person better, or to fall for the one, who treated you bad for years.
Guys, who treat any girl bad, are not worth it.

3.5 “When did this happen? The point where Max turned from a frenemy to a crush?” Stars

This was a pretty good new adult romantic suspense. It did feel sort of obvious at times WHAT exactly was going on, but the author did a good job throwing red herrings in there so I stayed guessing. We don’t get much of the enemies part in this story, but we know that Max and Lucy haven’t hit it off since meeting three years ago. So when Max loses his memory of the past three years they finally hit it off. But they hitting it off makes Lucy off balance and confused. Or so it seems.

All in all this was a good read. I enjoyed it. It didn’t blow me away, but it was still a great read!!

The cover whore in me couldn't help but be captivated by this piece of gorgeousness and intrigued by the possibilities. And after reading the blurb, I knew I needed this book in my life, ASAP.

Amnesia is a NA romantic suspense with a bit of thriller thrown in for good measure. The suspense and the main character, Lucy, carried me from page one to The End. It was a unique take on the old amnesia romance trope, one that I didn't see coming. not at first anyway, anyway. Now, I'm a big thriller reader and have become very good at sussing out twists and though I caught on well before the reveal or in this case, reveals. I still very much enjoyed being proven right. ;)

What I wasn't expecting was for this to be a New Adult novel. I don't know why but I just assumed it would be more adult. And there in lies my problem, I don't read NA books anymore. I find most of them to be too emotionally immature and infused with over the top drama for me to enjoy. So those readers who love NA , will love this book. Those who don't, won't find an exception here. The dialogue and the drama between the characters had limited depth and lacked the maturity I need to connect.

Now, Lucy was a bit of an exception. I connected to her to some extent and was able to separate what she was going through from what was going on around her. Her story, her history and how she dealt with it, is what sustained me through this story.

While I wish I could love this story, it just wasn't for me but that doesn't mean it won't be for you. This will very much appeal to lovers of NA romantic suspense and comes with some great twists.

What. A. Rush. Mind-blowing, thrilling, hot, and completely addictive, Amnesia by Jaimie Roberts was one crazy, wild ride! I grabbed it after reading the blurb and read it in one sitting. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint.

I really don’t want to go into the plot here, other than what the synopsis tells you. We meet Lucy—who I loved—and her group of friends who she’s known for several years. Unfortunately, her best friend, Ivy, is friends with Max. He’s a total douchecanoe, but because he’s Ivy’s other BFF, Lucy is stuck with him. When he’s is in an accident, amnesia causes him to forget how much he hates Lucy… and that’s when she gets a peek at the real Max.

“Maybe you and I can change that from today onwards. A fresh start... Maybe the universe meant for this to happen...”

That’s the Max I fell in love with. He’s swoony and hot and oh, so perfect. Lucy + Max share some sexy times and, though I loved them together, I kept waiting for the bomb to drop!! Page after page I read, my heart pounding, consumed with this story, dying to know where, why, how?!

“I had been a lost soul, travelling in limbo, hoping that one day someone will catch me.”

There are some tough scenes, which may be difficult for some readers, so if you are looking for hearts and flowers, this isn’t the book for you. For me, it was romantic suspense with a dash of NA—such a great combo!

Ms. Roberts had my mind spinning with theory after theory and I loved the feeling of not knowing what was going to happen next. I read Amnesia in one day and I’m adding Ms. Roberts to my authors-to-watch list!!

Interesting plot, cool cover...horrible execution. DNF.

1. The writing needs a lot of work-there is a LOT of mundane telling going on in this book. Lucy goes to the store. Lucy pulls out her phone and checks it. Lucy puts butter on her toast. Etc. There was a whole paragraph that really really irked me in the beginning with SO many simple telling sentences-they could have been combined to make something more complex, but they weren't so it read very stagnant.

2. There is no character depth-these are all very one note characters. I didn't connect with any of them.

3. I would have definitely switched back and forth from past and present very clearly to show the relationship between Max and Lucy because as it is, it starts with a very brief explanation that Max just automatically hates Lucy for no real reason and thus starts their 'feud'. Plus, all of their 'fights' are mentioned in a passing sentence or two. We don't get a grasp of Max's personality at all and Lucy just comes off as a meek, no backbone character.

To summarize: I just think that the writing of this was very weak (a lot of telling vs showing) and I didn't connect with any of the characters at all.

Edit: I just read someone else’s spoilers for the rest of the plot and I kind of wish this was better written because some of it sounded like it could have been promising, albeit, a little convoluted. It now makes sense why it was set all in the present vs switching to the past to explain some things..so if you can get past the writing, it might be worth the read to you. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Lucy Rhodes has always been a quiet girl. She believes she is normal, boring, plain and an interesting girl with "one of those faces" that people immediately dislike (cue eyeroll). Her only joy was her father whom she loved dearly but after he passes away in a car accident six years ago, Lucy is devastated but tries to move on and live her life. In University, she clicks with a certain pink-haired Pixie called Gabrielle and forms a strong bond with her and Pixie's inner circle of friends, all except Max Cooper and his minion Chester. Lucy tries her best to co-exist with Max as both of them are best friends with Pixie but they cannot stop being at each other's throats. Pranks with malicious intent and spiteful words are common between the two but an accident causes Max to break an arm, a leg, and most importantly, lose his memories of the previous three years, three whole years of being frenemies with Lucy. Three whole years of bullying Lucy has been forgotten and suddenly, Max finds Lucy attractive and transforms into a smart, charismatic gentlemen. Lucy, thinking that she has been given another chance to start over with Max, takes care of him but there is something at the back of her mind nagging her. Strange dreams, creepy texts and suddenly, Lucy finds her life falling apart.

The plot was good. The initial romance between Lucy and Max were good but after the twist, I wasn't so sure.

I loved Jaimie's Siren and that was one fucked up book. This one too is dark, involving ( it's a spoiler but I'm telling you because it might trigger people) rape and a teen losing her baby but while it was a surprise, it didn't move me to tears or anything. Like the romance was initially cute and stuff but I didn't get invested in their story.

Spoilers: Skip this section if you don't want them and move to the next. Seriously. They contain the twist and stuff so read this section after you read the book if you want. Also, I've cursed a lot and have ranted quite a bit.

1. So.... I was kind of skeptic. I did a bit of digging and found out that it is indeed possible to supress traumatic events but I didn't find if you could forget the most important part of your childhood because of it. In the story, she has this childhood friend whom she eventually loves called Theo, and because it was Theo's father who raped her, she apparently forgets the whole person called Theo. She's 21, she probably finished school when she was 17 or eighteen. Her dad died when she was almost 16. Can a person really forget someone they have truly loved with their heart and soul. I know that Theo and Lucy were totally into each other and the kind of couple that make actually gooey eyes and stuff so I really don't know how she forgets Theo. She forgets her only friend whom she has known for years. She forgets the boy she gave her heart too. She believes she grew up without any friends. How? Is that even possible? I couldn't find any related articles to this so........ That's a big question I don't know the answer to.

2. Max's behaviour was stupid and childish and irresponsible at the twist.
Max, or should I say Theo (yes, Max is Theo) bullies Lucy for three years, three whole fucking years because Lucy didn't recognize him when they first met. You want to taunt her? Drop hints doofus. He could have been angry at first, but after the initial anger of Lucy not recognising him, a sane person would have been concerned. Let's say I forget the fact I love books and that books are my life. After quarantine, if I don't open my mouth about books, my friends would first joke about what is wrong. If I deny the fact I love books, maybe they would be angry because sometimes, they don't believe the outrageous stories that I tell them, which I can assure you are written accounts from books. At first, maybe they would be angry that I lied to them for a whole damn year about liking books but eventually, I'm damn sure anyone would confront me about what is wrong. They would quiz me till I fess up that I was messing with them or ask my parents what happened (my friends know I'm crazy about books). So when Max doesn't confront Lucy on what is wrong or even ask her about Theo..... I was mad. The guy was a fucking idiot. Lucy tells him that she is a virgin. Max knows she is not one because he was the one who took it from her. He doesn't express any disbelief over that statement even them. Only when Lucy starts getting back her memories does he tell her that she is not a virgin. WTF dude?

3. We find out that Max faked his fucking Amnesia. I know I'm cursing a lot but the twist makes me so damn mad. Seriously Max? If I was Lucy, I would have fucking killed that guy and fed his brain to his sharks. Then, I would have reconstructed him and let him roam as a brainless bimbo before killing him again. He fucking faked Amnesia to get Lucy love him and have sex with him so he can he publicly humiliate her and break her heart. Fucking prick. Since Lucy is extremely distressed as revelation after revelation hits her, she gets caught up in her past and other things over shadow the fact that Max deceived her, but that is not an excuse. Lucy should be appalled at the lengths a man who apparently loved her went to break her heart, but after everything is over, she believes Max will do anything for her. *Scoffs* Max is one lying, manipulative bastard.

I initially gave this book a four star but I'm making it three now because I truly didn't realise how angry I was till I went over my own rant.

Spoilers are over

So... come on. It was pretty obvious from the get go what the twists gonna be. If you're a reader that wants to be surprised by the twists, this may not be for you. But then, I like the way Jaimie Roberts write her dark romance (which I don't think this book is).

It was a bit slow burn and every chapters we were given hints about what happened in Lucy's past while she's taking care of the amnesiac Max. I love that we didn't get the pre-jerk version of Max before he had the accident. It would've been harder for me to forgive him then.

Overall, it was a good story. I like it. You can never deter me away from JR now that I've found her.

5 ⭐️ read!!

This was a really enjoyable read. Loved the characters & the mystery sounding them! I had an inkling about the plot twist & I was half right 😆 haha!

It’s best to go in blind and just enjoy the ride, lots of twists and turns within the storyline, but super worth the read. 🙌🏼

4⭐️ The main character girl’s best friend’s has an best friend that she doesn’t get along with. He gets in a car accident one day and doesn’t remember anything for the last like five years which is when he met her so he doesn’t hate her because he doesn’t remember her. And they end up forming a friendship then something else….

The romance to me was not very memorable but I liked the book

This felt very different than the books that I have read from this author so far but I didn’t hate it tho

It was kind of seemed ya at times then new adult at other (the smut) but over all I loved the plot and wanted to see everything unravel 😗✌🏼

This was a joyous ride from start to stop and a very engaging read. I had heard a lot of bloggers praising it, so I was super happy when I finally got a chance to read the ARC. And this book definitely lived up to the expectations and succeeded in keeping me engaged throughout the read.
That being said - at around 60% of the story I was able to deduce what might have happened in Lucy's past and in the essence for the most part of it I was able to solve the myself. Again, that might be because I have read a lot of thrillers, so was able to catch on the clues (some very smartly misdirecting leading me to believe it would be even more twisted but that wasn't the case) that the author had seamless woven into the story without making it very obvious. For me mostly, it was the elimination method that worked and as proud I was about my own deducing ability I was equally proud of the author for making it the whole story, settings very realistic and the timings perfect. It's like through this story she is setting up a game for us to find the culprit and all the puzzle pieces perfectly laid before us at the right stages help in seeing the bigger picture. That's what I loved the most about the book - everything fits together perfectly towards the end without any loose ends and everything is very realistic and doable- we don't have to stretch our realms of reality to buy this story.
What makes a thriller click with the readers?
1) it should be able to keep the readers guessing at every turn.
2)it should have the element of suspense and fear of 'the' unknown
3) some twists and turns to make us re-question all out previous theories.
4) it should be fast paced with every chapter or two ending with a new revelation.
And this book has it all in perfect proportions and to add to that it also has a very beautiful love story underneath it all and that truly steals the cake.!!! So this is a perfect romantic suspense/ psychological thriller!!
I don't want to talk about the characters as that would be 'spoilerish' but all I can say, each and every one of them are interesting to read about, fun and also likeable despite some of their 'actions'
This is not a particular 'dark' book but hints at it, especially towards the end and for the tone of this book, the darkness it has suffices.
So overall - I loved this one and would encourage all of you to definitely read this!!!

I have never read this author before so after reading the blurb i was really looking forward to hopefully finding a new author to read.
Starting off the writing felt immature as if maybe this book was written for a younger reader. Or maybe the author was a fledgling. Anyway, the writing did improve technically. I don't feel there is much world building per se. It took a few to understand the scene is London, England it isn't just the author being from that culture and they are writing how they speak.
Now, the plot twists are pretty good. I really enjoyed the twists and turns. BUT...and that is such a big but; I felt the protagonists behavior to be beyond unbelievable.
Lucy and Max are frenemies, he is in an accident causing a broken leg and arm, supposedly he can remember his friends from the past 3 years but nothing else AND no memory of Lucy. So, move her in to take care of him while he is unable to take care of himself.
You have the person you hate move in? She secretly has a crush on him...duh. But as I said, PLOT TWIST.
So, plot is great. Storyline can be awesome. Hard to do a lot of character building when dealing with amnesia but the author really tried. Story is from Lucy's perspective until the last third then it bounces. Sorry Max if I were Lucy at the end you would be doing some serious groveling. For years.
As I said the writing gets better but still a tad immature and young feeling. Tries to tie up loose ends at the end which is good.
I feel it could have been more. Still a decent read.

This was one freaking thrill ride, full of twists and turns! You go into the book expecting one thing, only to get another. Then you might think you know what's going on, only to get hit with another surprise. Once I started reading this, I couldn't put it down, I was up till 2am finishing the book. I love a good suspense/mystery/thriller with romance thrown in! I highly recommend this book, and now I'm going to have to go read the other books she's written!

Just when you think you have the plot figured out, there is a twist. Then another and another, till your not really sure where the author is taking you, than bam! Very well done!

Wow. Wow. Wow.

I was on the fence about reading this one as usually memeory loss stories aren’t really my thing. But I am so glad I gave it a chance.
I was expecting this sweet love story between two young adults, after one being in a serious crash. A second chance romance. But it wasn’t that at all, it was so much more.
This definitely was a second chance and it really was a love story but it was so much more complex than I ever imagined. This was dark and twisted and had me guessing every step of the way.

The dreams. The threats. The coincidences. The exact same words. The mystery. My brain was going crazy with the possibilities and I LOVED THAT 😂

I should have expected this, from the authors previous dark stories I have read, but I just didn’t click haha. There was the perfect amount of romance and suspense. I was on the edge of my seat and had absolutely no idea what was coming. And the last 30% had my jaw hanging open in shock 😂

“You’re always moving so fast. Always trying to stay ahead of the game.” Shaking his head once more, he gazes up at the stars. “If you move faster than the speed of light, you end up living your life in the dark.”

Bravo Jaimie Roberts. This was a work of art 😍

Eh. Kind of neutral on this one. I had a tough time staying engaged in the story. I never felt the connection between the h and H, mostly because the story really hinged the supposed hatred between them, but we never see much evidence of it. It jumps into the 'amnesia' that changes Max's attitude towards Lucy and the mystery regarding their past just didn't draw me in at all. Perhaps I've just become jaded after experiencing too many mediocre and inferior books this last year. The writing was okay, the characters are okay, but that's just it. I'm not captivated by 'okay' and I really phoned the last third of this book in to finish it.
One small criticism regarding dialogue tags. Seriously, 'he said' or 'she said' is often all that is necessary. A character 'bellowing' or 'screaming' in most scenes just doesn't messes with the context and tone. In other words, they don't work. Keep it simple.
Middle of the road read for me, but will definitely appeal to younger readers. Not really geared for 40-somethings.
