Spacehawks: Family Business

Rate this book
When a luxury spaceliner is hijacked in the Bishti sector, it sets in motion a series of events that could well lead to interstellar war. A Senator from the Confederation, along with his wife, are among the passengers taken hostage. Jason Hawke, former Confederation Marine, is awakened from an alcoholic cycle of self destruction and spurred to go to the rescue of the woman he once loved, Kristin Baird, the wife of the hostage Senator. Meanwhile, agencies within the Confederation and the Confed Navy itself, are making plans to go to the rescue of the hostages, little knowing that the rival DeSotoan Empire is laying an ambush for them, using the hostages as bait. But when Jason is joined by his three brothers and a beautiful fighter pilot, the hostage takers may find out that they’ve bitten off much more than they can chew. After all, violence is the Hawke Clan’s family business!

Science fiction and fantasy have always been favorites of mine. I grew up reading Robert Heinlein, Roger Zelazny, Keith Laumer, and Tolkien. I also found that sci-fi and fantasy frequently have a basis in real historical events, and my reading branched out into theoretical physics, ancient history, biography, and military history.
Of course, when I started writing my own material, I did what I could to combine all these elements. That's why you'll find history and science even in stories that are nominally fantasy. And it's why you'll find fantasy even in my historical fiction. That's not to mention the mysticism that I weave into my science fiction.
I like to put all the things that interest me into the blender and just let 'er rip. I hope you have as much fun reading my stories as I have writing them!
