Sometimes certain people are better left dead...

Sam takes on an odd case: he's hired to track down a man who has been thought to be dead for more than forty years, but recently showed up alive to visit his dying mother. Now his daughter, who never even met him, wants to ask him where he's been all this time, and why she grew up without him in her life.

When that man turns out to be a former government assassin who's gone rogue, however, Sam decides it's time for him to bow out of the case--but then he learns that the one you think is the bad guy isn't always right. The supposedly rogue agent, it turns out, may actually be trying to save America from global Jihad. With everything from his family's safety to the future of America's Sovereignty on the line, Sam has to figure out who to trust and what to do, before it all blows up in his face.

I have generally found David Archer to be a highly skilled author of mystery stories. I originally read his first three books in the Sam & Indie series, then read the first boxed set of the Sam Prichard series. In both I give him high marks for creating captivating stories.

In this second set in the Sam Prichard series, I found that Mr. Archer fell into some of the "traps" that so many mystery writers put into their books, and he added some aspects of his own personality, all of which resulted in my truly not enjoying this volume very much.

The trap is that he, like many others, got so involved in finding solutions to the dilemmas posed to his main character that he had to make sharp deviations from the original premise multiple times; this gave the reader (me) a path to follow that seemed too incredible to be believable. The authors persona showed his own love of Christianity to be so powerful that it colored too much of the story line.

I think that if you care for David Archer's writing, go to other of his writings and skip this entire volume. The developing history of Sam's involvement in crime will not be broken, and you can spend your time on the stories where his plot flow is much more enjoyable.

While the plausibility of Archer's plots is thin, the characterizations, dialogue, tensions, twists, and dynamic action fan the digital pages for this reader. As the author intends I identify with Sam and Indie and feel their deep commitment to each other. That is a powerful skill that Mr. Archer has mastered.

As a novelist myself I appreciate the creative nature of David Archer's storytelling. He challenges me to suspend disbelief in his bigger than life characters and devilish foes. I will continue reading his work because it stimulates my imagination, amuses me, surprises me, and reinforces the fundamental values we share of patriotism, love, honor, duty and bravery.

Sam Prichard Series Books 5-8

Sam gets pulled into another situation, this time to save the world. One of the top people in the CIA has set up a series of tragedies to cause the collapse of world governments and replace it with the New World Order with him pulling the strings. He works with a rogue agent to stop this along with the help of Harry, Indie and Gary a super hacker. The plot is stopped and all involved arrested. Sam and Indie are back home and he's back with the band.

Hooked

Well, you know on page one if a book is going to deliver or not. I got that impression from page 1 of book 1, now having read the first 8 books, all I can say they get better as they go, and would tell anyone to give them a go from book 1, you will not be disappointed.

Okay, I'm impressed.

I didn't think anyone could beat Noah and his stories but Sam is giving him a run for the money.

Too much condpiracy

This book reads like it was written by an Oath Keeper. Outrageous conspiracy is not what we need right now. I will not read another book by this author.
