- Our Minds, Bodies, and Imaginations
Each devotion features a "Be Amazed" section with fascinating facts, hands-on activities, and a closing prayer. Based on Louie Giglio's popular messages "Indescribable" and "How Great Is Our God," 100 Devotions About God & Science will help kids discover the incredible creation of our indescribable God.
Indescribable: 100 Devotions about God & Science is a wonderful homeschool resource. It is not so much a devotional as it is a book that shares some interesting tidbits of science and then relates how God's indescribable imagination, creativity, and scripture relate to the science. This book is the very first thing that my kids ask for as we begin a school day. They look forward to it. They are excited about it!
Breakdown
Each lesson begins with a scripture verse. Giglio seems to primarily use the International Children's Bible (ICB). There are also lessons from the New International Version (NIV). I'm not happy with the use of the ICB. I truly don't believe that a child needs a simplified version. It is our responsibility as parents to teach our children about God. it can lead to wonderful places when you discuss the meaning of words and concepts that you encounter in the Bible that a child doesn't understand. A conversation about what Bible version is appropriate is hugely controversial, of this I am aware. This is a review, so I'm sharing my thoughts. My children and I have chosen to look up the scripture in our personal bibles, which happen to be the English Standard Version (ESV). The kids rotate who looks up the scripture of the day. This practice helps them to locate passages in their Bible and gives them an opportunity to read God's word out loud.
The content of the lesson reports an interesting science fact and ties it into a relationship with God. Either the relation of God's creation and imagination to the fact or how that fact can lead towards building a greater relationship with Christ,
The lesson ends with a very short one or two-sentence prayer relating to the material.
Last but not least... my kid's favorite part, Be Amazed. Here you will find fascinating science facts, calls to action, etc. Fun information.
I have found Indescribable: 100 Devotions about God & Science to be a jumping off point for some intimate conversations about God and a whole lot of trips to the Internet to google about the scientific facts involved. I recommend that you get a copy to enjoy with your kids. You definitely don't need to be a homeschool family to learn and have fun with this devotional.

This is only a portion of my review. I will be adding (or have added) many links to my review of Indescribable on my blog for supplemental study. You can find them here.
Disclosure... I am not an advocate of all things Louie Giglio. He has some theological beliefs that I do not find expressed in scripture.
As a reviewer for FrontGate Media, I received a review copy of this book in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. My thanks to FrontGate Media, the author, and publisher.
We did this in the mornings for a long time, many times it was misplaced by the boys wandering off with it. It was a great little addition to Bible reading. The boys loved it and I learned many wonderful things. It was short enough to keep our littlest interested and begging to do narrations.
Love how each day there is a short devotional that highlights a summarized science fact and then connects it to our Creator. The short prayer included helps to personalize our relationship with God and reflect on what was just discussed in the devotional. Reading through this together with my son (age 8) was one of our favorite parts of the day! I will definitely check out others in this devotional series because the format and contents are wonderful!
What a grand opportunity to lead your child to discover the indescribable wonders of the universe made by our wonderful Creator. And this new devotional book for kids will enable families together to embark on this wonderful journey of discovery.
Every day's devotional is packed with wonderful scientific information and a brief scriptural reference that ties it together. The doors for discussion will swing wide open when families use this book for family devotions
But it is not only a book that can be used in a family setting. Kids themselves will wonder at the awesome God that created our world as they read through these 100 devotions on their own. An opportunity to establish a habit of daily time with God.
Seriously, my husband and I (we're grandparents and great-grandparents) have enjoyed reading some of these devotionals together and are quite frankly simply amazed at the material. It is so well presented and not too "little-kiddie-themed."
I highly recommend this little book and know it will be a treasured addition to a child's or family's library.

INDESCRIBABLE: 100 DEVOTIONS ABOUT GOD & SCIENCE is seriously the coolest devotional I've seen yet for kids. I am a parent and I love it.
I discovered Louie Giglio several years back when I watched a DVD with the same title: INDESCRIBABLE. And I never forgot it. In fact, I bought it for our own personal library. Mr. Giglio loves God and loves science and he is a pastor of a church and wow. Any way, when I was offered the chance to review this book, yes, I jumped.
As mentioned above, the science topics range from space to earth, to animals to us, and it is all tied in with God and Scripture. My two daughters (both older than the targeted ages) are as in love with this as I am. And if you tied it in with the internet, looking up references, google images, and Wikipedia you can use this devotional as a faith-filled curriculum for science.
I would totally recommend this devotional for families, homeschoolers, Christian schools and more. Would make a great gift for your favorite elementary age child.
3.5 stars. I don't like this one as much as the previous one, but this is another fun combination of science and bible. In this one, most of the facts are about space. It gives a science concept and little known fact and then ties it to how it relates to God. For the ages of my kids (5, 3, and 1),there was a lot in this one that went way over their head. Space, especially, is a very hard thing to wrap your mind around-- ESPECIALLY as a little kid. I love this style, but we'll do something else before moving on to the 3rd one.
This is the first STEM devotional I'd heard of and I can't rate it highly enough. Our kids were attentive the whole way through, able to connect Biblical teaching/God's actions with what they are learning in school.
Great idea. Easy format. Engaging reading. Family time. Deeper knowledge of God's word and the nature that surrounds us.
Really enjoyed reading this to the kids before bed. The author did a great job of relating science to God, and how to apply it to our everyday walk with God
A fantastic devotion to read in the evenings with my 8 and 10 year olds! We loved the format, the stories about science, and most importantly how each devotion pointed to our Creator!
Great devotional book we read as a family together at breakfast. Short 5 minutes segment with pictures and prayer. Great science illustrations and science related topics. We used it as part of science discussion for our homeschooling as well. The binding in the book is poor and the book literally fell apart. :( I read the English version. I don’t know how I accidentally marked on here the Spanish version. 🤷♀️
Really good devotional for kids. The science is explained in a simple way that's easy for young kids to understand, and it's used as a spiritual object lesson.
Loved this book! Very much enjoyed reading this with my little ones! The devotions were interesting about animals or earth or life and had excellent connections to God and life.
My kids really enjoyed having this read to them at night. The artwork is pleasant and not cheesy or too crazy. Some of it went over the four-year-old's head, but they still enjoyed the cool science facts. Some of the scriptural lessons and analysis was a bit repetitive at times, but that was ok. I have not doubt we will make our way through it again in a year or two.
I absolutely adore this book! I’m an adult and I’ve gleaned so much information from this sweet little Book! Each day contains an awesome fact about science or nature and ties it in with the awesomeness and creativity of God. I HIGHLY recommend this book for kids AND adults!!
My boys and I loved the 1st one of these, and they liked this one ok (one son more than the other), but this one kinda grated on me. It seemed far more preachy than the first. “Well it is a devotional” I hear you saying. True, but let me explain. The first one seemed to have neat little science lessons and tied them together with a simple little message about the glory of God. No doctrine, no questionable or controversial topics. This one had a few lessons that seemed a bit more personal, less universal. The 3rd lesson requires a literal reading of the Bible. There was #74 in particular about Satan hunting you (“That’s because a predator is hunting you, and his name is Satan.”) that I just don’t believe in and changed when reading. There were also several about proselytizing which I don’t agree with.
Which leads to the next problem that the 1st book didn’t seem to have: this one didn’t seem to know which age range it was going for. There were some lessons that seemed advanced (#6 about the laminin in your body that holds your cells together), and then some that were far more simplistic (#100 about the metamorphosis of the caterpillar or tadpole). However, I will say Giglio does a great job of explaining the science aspect well enough that an 8 and a 5 year old were able to understand it quite well.
There also were repetitive lessons about how God made the stars, how there are so many stars, how vast the universe is, how different the universe is, how God hung the stars and also made you (# 10, 12, 19, 21, 28, and more).
Finally, the connection between the science lessons and the religious message on some of the stories seemed like the author was stretching quite a lot. Like #3, he quotes a Bible verse about Leviathan, says it sounds like a dragon. Dragons are really strong and so is God’s armor. Or #36 which details how your eyes are created in the womb and then how God gave you eyes to see His world and read the Bible.
All in all, I wanted to like this book far more than I did. The first one felt more inspired and both my sons and I enjoyed reading it. I actually learned new information from it. This one felt rushed, or else like a cash grab. I’m sorry I was so disappointed with it.
Indescribable is a new devotional for kids written by Louie Giglio, and I'm in love with it! This is an excellent resource for kids. Indescribable has 100 devotions focused on showcasing the amazing creativity of Creation from a scientific standpoint. It features cool science facts, photography, and super colorful drawings. Each devotion has scripture, a story, application, and neat stuff about science.
One of the things I love about this book is the way that Giglio points out the awesome creativity and attention to detail in our Creator - and the devotions are written in such a way that you'll be admiring these as you go throughout your day. After reading the science facts, you'll find yourself appreciating Creation all the more. Another aspect of this book that I love is the way that the science facts support the amazingness of creation. Often people try to turn that around - to say that science tears apart the idea of faith - but that couldn't be less true. The intricateness of the natural world points to a Creator, just as the Bible says, and Indescribable points to that truth. The devotions in this book are all in the following areas: Space, galaxies, planets, and stars Earth, geology, oceans, and weather Animals Our minds, bodies, and imaginations. My Little Man is going to be SO EXCITED to read these "scientific devotions." It will give him the opportunity to combine several of his deep, long-time loves: God, science, and reading. I love the focus Giglio has put on these four areas, and that's also the only thing I think could be improved; in the book, these four areas are all mixed up. I would have liked to see all the space devotions in the same part of the book, for instance. Beyond that picky thing, this book is fantastic. I can't wait for My Little Man to read it and to shout excitedly, "Mommy, you know what?" I love hearing him be excited to learn more about Jesus, and to learn more about the world that God created, and I know that Indescribable will do just that.
I received a free copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I really like how this bring faith and science together. Our children are very much into science, and asking 'why?' about everything, and this book tries to answer that question. It also teaches some basic science in the process. The devotions are like mini-lessons, with facts about the topic du jour (only 100; not 365) and related Bible verses. Perfect for younger children, but also for kids who might have reached that age where they're having a hard time just accepting God and are looking for deeper..."proof" is not the word I want, but if you have teens, you'll know what I mean.
What better way for children to discover the wonders of the universe than with The Creator!
This book is perfect for all those little minds full of curious thoughts about STEM-themed topics. What I love most about this book is how it's bursting with scientific findings, photography and original illustrations about all sorts of topics related to science.
Children are always fascinated with learning more about these things, so engagement with this devotional should be really high.
The introduction points out that four major topics are covered in this book: space, the Earth, animals, and people.
It also suggests that readers should feel free to jump around and focus on just one topic at a time if they'd like -- and even makes this easier by grouping readings by topic and page number.
It's great to see how Louie not only helps kids learn more about each subject, but then relates each one to the awe and wonder at God's creativity with them all.
Each devotion also includes a "Be Amazed" section that adds additional facts and hands-on activities to try and is followed by a short prayer to close everything out, as well.
