He was about to put his relationship with Nicola on the line and to the public but now he can't help but feel there may be another man involved.
Little does Abe know that Nicola is now pregnant with his baby. Now Abe is trying to figure out what went wrong and what he can do to fix things before it's too late and he loses Nicola for good.
The story was pure awesomesauce, full of scandal and passion. It was worth the read and not to mention the fact, it's very easy to relate to the characters!
I read this book shortly after it first came out I think (or like a year?) anyway - I've read it multiple times since. It's one of my favorite romances.
A) It's a "political" romance - in a way. I'd like to see more of it, but it also is how this particular story needed to be written, and I'm not at all mad at that. B) it's just wonderfully written.
The characters are older - Nicola is 37 I think and Abe is ... 50? Or in his 50s. It's sexy and sensual - not so hot compared to now books, but way more sensual than so many out now. I know I'll be re-reading it again.
2022 - I actually can't remember when I bought this book; I first read it from the library in 2004 ... I'm pretty sure I own it in print too. [Bought it in e years ago.] It's nice to know most of this book still holds up. There's a scene when they're buying the angel gifsts that :| but ... yanno. It's been nearly 20 years but also I know a lot of people still feel that way - strongly. [Just kinda extra noted for me since I just read an Alexandria House book where the heroine is like "whatever at least the baby is clothed" - although the hero does buy the baby "gender appropriate" clothes so ... here we are.]
I really did enjoy this story. Some of the things Abe or Nicola said were so funny, that I just had to laugh. Nicola was Abe’s campaign manager while he was running for senator. They would work hard, and play just as hard. After the campaign Abe wanted to go public with their relationship. Nicola on the other hand tried to keep Abe at arm’s length. She found out she was pregnant, but didn’t know how to tell him. Abe was older, and his children were already grown. I was a little annoyed that it took so long for Abe to find out she was pregnant. I also wished there would have been an epilogue. The ending seemed just to cut off. Over all this was a pleasant book to read.
Eh. It felt like I was thrown into the middle of a story, and the heroine was frustrating as shit. Get your act together, girl, woman up, and tell the guy you're having his baby. Because regardless what you think his reaction will be, he deserves to know and have his own reaction. And then the ending is totally abrupt after all his wasted time at political dinners and crap, the romance really fell by the wayside in my opinion.
Not a fan of reading about a 55 year man with a bunch of grown children accidentally knocking up a younger woman. Especially knowing from his grown children's perspectives (from their own stories) that he was was not a great father and was largely absent. P.
A good ending for the entire series. It satisfied my expectation.
I like Abe's character. I know there's more to him than the driven man his children thought. And Nicola has a good character too. A bit disappointed with the ending, hope for more kick there. And because this is a series, I think there should be something like a get-together event that told what's the other character from the series up to now. That would end the entire series greatly.
Over all, I like this clan. But many off moment from the books. Like the author's lack in coordinating from each other. The timeline is often jumbled and crashed from one book with the other. Even so, I still want to be a part of this great clan :D
Totally disappointed in the end to this series. Come on honest Abe gets his campaign manager pregnant. Why did't the series discuss where all the kids were now and Abe's relationships developing with his children..
Sex and politics, just like real life. I believe its the last of a series, but thankfully the previous characters were always secondary with no let-me-catch-you-up interruptions.
Something different from what I've used to read. A 55 year old and a 37 year old couple. Having to deal the age differences and background differences. Quite a enjoyable read. ^^
