**Five Stars** ~This series will get under your skin, pun intended! In this installment, Lara is trying to become accustomed to her new life. She is a Healer, and with all that entails, is now running her own clinic. But sometimes, enough is enough, and you have to go home. And that's where things start to get really interesting. Highly recommended for fans of Anne Rice, Laurell K Hamilton, and Karpov Kinrade~ Chloe Cutherbert, Vine Voice Surviving the transition from human to supernatural life is looking like a walk in the park compared to what happens when your Faerie Grandmother finally catches up to you. Wild magic and displays of raw power have brought the Tuatha de Dannan to Lara Hennessey's door. They want to explore the extent of her power and aren't taking no for an answer. So she runs to the only place she has ever felt safe; Pawley's Island, South Carolina. Only safe is relative. With an angry neighbor, a maybe best friend, a rogue vampire, and your Faerie Grandmother hunting you, peace on the island is fleeting. Throw in the fact that you are the only thing standing in the way of death for a set of twin boys and the stakes get higher. When the dust settles she is left with one truth....families are complicated
Sharilyn spent most of her early years on the Grand Strand of SC annoying local police officers and pretty much every one else. She graduated from the University of South Carolina and now lives on a small farm outside of Morgantown, WV with various farm animals, her husband, and three kids who love to annoy her. (Karma is a bitch.) She writes the Healer Series and has published articles for major magazines, newspapers, and anthologies. She loves showing Quarter horses, trail riding, reading, and being annoyed by her kids. If she is missing, check for her horse trailer. If it is missing, no worries, she'll be back.
Girl! You totally nailed it!!! I really loved the first one, when I had no idea who wrote the book and followed your recommendation because we literally read the exact same books. But this one.....you knocked it out of the ball park!!!! Such talent that after all we have shared, I never knew you had!!!! I could not be more proud of you!!! Absolutely amazing!!!!!!
The beginning of this book starts with a little taste of Lara's newfound healing powers. Nothing like starting with a slightly startling moment to draw you in.
And draw me in it did.
I have to say that nothing major happens, with the exception of Daniel. Otherwise it's filled with small victories. Whether it's Lara deciding her own future, or her standing up to someone for something that is right, or finally realizing that family isn't always blood and that the family who is might just be a little terrifying.
"I can hear your heartbeat, I can smell your feelings."
I found that Healer is about Lara discovering a little more about herself and about the world around her. There's still plenty she doesn't know and at times I felt just as lost as she did with what was going on around her. I'm sure her and I both will soon understand as the series continues. Until then, I'm left wondering what else out there may be seeking her powers. And what exactly is going on between her and Aedan.
"I thought I had lost you. It...frightened me. I am quite unaccustomed to being frightened."
Even after learning a little more about the mysterious Aedan I still don't know what to make of him. I want to be all Team Aedan, and yet there's still something I'm not quite sure about. I keep waiting for him to either betray her or rock her world...not sure which I want to see more though.
Unlike Ms. Skye's first book Cerridwen's Tears, Healer starts of fast and keeps running until the end. Healer picks up where Cerridwen's Tears leaves off with Lara continuing to explore her newfound powers and the vampire community. Her adventure takes us to Pawley Island where she manages to get in more trouble. After solving a mystery and reuniting a family she returns to Maryland and more vampire drama. On top of it all a long lost relative comes out of the woodwork and challenges everything Lara has learned. The character development continues as we get to know more about Lara and Aedan. This novel is even better than the first and I can't wait to see what the author has in store for us in the next novel.
Disjointed sentences and grammatical errors abound
Look, this is a good story but I kept having to stop and reread sentences. Some were missing a word. Some were confusing as in it made no sense as to what was being referred to. And there commas... oh lord. The absolute worst use of commas. Commas that break up a sentence three words off from where they should be. Marquis instead of marquee? Rack instead of wrack?
I understand self publishing is hard but with all the people that are listed as helping nobody noticed? Or remarked? For the record, I'm a math major, not an English major so your mileage may vary.

This read was the best I have come across in a long time.
This is fast paced, exciting and I couldn’t put it down. It kept me on the edge of my seat. You will laugh, you will cry, but it is so worth it! You can picture the characters vividly as they bounce off the pages. I can’t wait for Number 3 in this series. To say this author is talented is an understatement!
The series gets better and better. The same characters and new ones are outstanding. As Lara says, " lions and tigers and bears! " The "Healer" series is one i am not looking forward to ending. As with wonderful books or movies too, i actually mourn the ending and mourn the lost characters. Okay, on to "Healer (Healer Series Book 3). "Oh my".
