I listened to the audio version of this book and enjoyed it but not as much as I expected to. I enjoyed Michelle's story, especially her past and obstacles she had to overcome in her life.
I didn't particularly think listening to her voice was as good as previous audio books I've listened to. But it makes sense for an autobiography to be read by the author. Her voice was inconsistent and you could tell in the middle of a chapter when she had stopped and started over again. She doesn't read with any kind of emotion.
I did enjoy her story and shed a few tears and laughed out loud a few times. Over all I'd say the book was average. Worth your time but nothing to get too excited about.

I was so excited to be given this book for my birthday. Coming from a British perspective, I knew it was a very historic day when I watched the inauguration of President Obama. And because of this I became really interested in American politics.

I have always felt that Michelle was a woman who one could relate to. She is not royalty, not set apart, she is the same as us - a real role modal. I thought her story was endlessly fascinating and once started I could not put this book down. It is insightful and above everything else it was honest. I came away from this book adoring this family even more than before.

Michelle Obama has a delightful, natural way of telling a story ... her story. I listened to the audiobook due to my lack of time to sit and read. It was very interesting to hear about her early life and how she achieved her education through so many ordinary means. She did a wonderful job narrating her story and I was glad I could hear her voice telling it with all the varied and necessary emotion to the various events. Her life certainly changed due to her marriage but she made the world a better place due to all her efforts. I am a Canadian and she always impressed me.

I loved reading about Michelle's early life, upbringing, and especially about her relationship with her brother and parents. It was really impactful for me as a disabled adult to read about what things were like with her father's illness and disability - especially looking at it from a cultural and historical perspective. Good read. Just a little long!

A woman of class, intelligence, and humor! It was like a conversation with a friend, hearing stories of growing up, events that shaped her, and the spotlight of the White House, with all its ups and downs.

A fantastic read, inspiring, hopeful yet real about the challenges faced by the country and the family. This made me even sadder about the current state of politics around the world yet hopeful that everyday people are better than what we are led to believe. The best autobiography I’ve read so far this year!

I highly recommend this book and really enjoyed it. I have always liked and admired Michelle Obama and her personal story is beautiful and inspiring. In response to page 366, I hope enough people in her life have told her that she has shown up in the world in a way that honors all the woman before and after her. Thank you Michelle Obama!!

I was very inspired by her life and journey from the Southside of Chicago. She is a lady of preservance and determination. She gives Women of Color a picture of what Marriage and Careers can be to those who desire the dream. Thank you for inspiring all Women everywhere, young and old.

An amazing story told directly from the author. What's not to love about her story. She makes her life relatable, but at the same time keeps you in awe at her tenacity, strength and focus. I love her story and so glad she shared it.

What a wonderful and beautiful insight into the First Lady's experiences from childhood in Chicago, through her husband's presidency, and just before leaving.

Excellent writing, remarkable story. Too bad she doesn't like politics as she would make a super President!

A story about a family who wants to do whatever they can to help others: pretty much the opposite of the current family in the White House.
