My life is like Romeo and Juliet. Except instead of being in love, I want to break Romeo's nose. My family has always been rivals with the Banthams. We both make top-tier wine. We both don't know when to back down. Darius Bantham ESPECIALLY doesn't know when to back down. He's been flirting with me since we were teens. But it doesn't matter if his smile lights up a room, or if his dark eyes make me shiver. I hate his guts. So when I'm forced into spending a week with him at a wine seminar that's a chance of a life time, I'm not happy. But he is. Darius doesn't care that we're enemies. And when he finally gets me alone, he makes me a hot-whisper of a promise: that I'm going to love kissing him. And as much as I hate it... He's right.
Enjoyable and quick read. Two people who work at opposing wineries meet up at a food and win convention. They have a tiny bit of a romantic past, but also have a tense past and present. their families have been at odds for years, so when these two have a spark and so much more they aren’t sure how it will all work out. There’s a bit of angst, naught bits, and a bit of sweetness. All in all a good read!
This was such a cute and fun book to read. It was packed full of emotions that kept me on my toes! I love a good enemies to lovers book and this was one of the best I've read! It's a quick read so it's a quick turn of events but all in all it was great!
I absolutely loved Penny Wylder's enemies to lovers romance story. Darius and Holly have such history and yet were so fabulous together because of the sizzling chemistry they have together. Holly is sexy, sweet, fierce, and sassy; Darius is one deliciously sexy man who will make you shiver in yearning-- Darius is hoping that Holly will not be able to resist him. Their families are in the same business and are really competitors and when these two are thrown together at a business function the sparks start flying. It's a very modern day twist on the classic Romero and Juliet . It is a sexy and sweet read. My only small issue with this story is that the ending seemed rushed, not as descriptive and flushed out as the body of the story. Overall the story is great so its still an awesome Penny Wylder read but I would have liked the ending to match the pace of the story. This is just my opinion.
I always like Penny Wilder for a cute, short, light on the angst quickie.
Dring Me Up definitely hits those marks spot on. I liked this book for the light read that it is meant to be. I need a couple shorties to keep up with my 2019 goal! Which I am very disappointingly behind on right now!! Damn house remodel is really sucking up all my free reading time!
I blame HGTV for making me think I have the ability, time, and energy to be Joanna Gains... Spoiler alert....
I'm totally not
BUT I Digress... Cute book with cute characters and a sweet Hero. I thought for being in the Enemies to Lovers category, the MC's got the lovers part a bit too fast. I enjoy the push and pull and tension of the enemies part a lot and feel like the longer the bickering and opposition goes on the more explosive and engaging it is for the reader when they finally come together... no pun intended...
OK TIMBERLAKE SORRY! Bad joke!
All in all, Good book to pass the time with until your ready for your next mind-melter :)
A modern Romeo and Juliet's story in the winery world.
Even if everything happens in a short time, it still felt real because of their shared past. Holly and Darius are both the heirs to their families winery and meet during a weekend of networking. And where Holly seems determined to make her parents proud and prove them she's ready to take over, Darius's motives are a bit less certain. And with the rivalry between their parents, it made for an interesting few days.
I really liked Holly's dedication to her parents and to her work. She's not doing it only to please them but because she really enjoys it. She cares for them. I also liked that Darius was nothing like his dad. He aspired to do things his own way, genuinely. He stayed honest all the way without it making him weak or less, which can't be easy in such a competitive world.
I liked this book and I might check out others from the author.
This is a enemies to lovers short story but you really get a feel for the main characters and was a fantastic read.
Holly is attending a networking weekend for up and coming chefs and wineries, this is the first time that her parents have let her go it alone and she is determined to make them proud. That is until she runs into Darius, their parents have been at war for years and she is adamant that he is not going to distract hr from what she came to do which was to put her families winery on the map. Holly has been fighting an attraction to him since she was a teenager and he has made his intentions clear, he wants her but are his motives to put her off her game or something else entirely?
Darius knows what his father wants him to do and that’s ruin any chances that Holly has of making a name for her families winery, but she is the girl that he has always wanted and now he has the weekend to try and show her who he really is. Can he finally get through the walls that she hides behind or will something destroy what he was worked so hard for with Holly?
This was a really entertaining read with a HEA and very steamy. Cute epilogue would read this book again and recommend it highly.
A great setting and very hot chemistry for this new couple from a writer that always delivers.
Wine and passion? That's a good mix for an exciting romance. I was very eager to taste this wine-making world as the setting for this couple's relationship. They are the heirs to two rival families in the wine business. They've known each other since childhood and that made for some very tickling memories between them. Naturally, the woman is very wary of his family's bad business techniques so she resists his amorous advances at first. Not for long! :-D The passion they are trying to rein in really fizzes and erupts into really hot encounters.
Fiery-hot chemistry, cutthroat conspiracies, family feuds, a wine and food convention weekend, and a Romeo and Juliette forbidden romance coalesce in this highly entertaining story. I loved the characters who are so attracted to each other despite the weight of prejudice and family hatred. The drama was well orchestrated and the HEA proved this couple’s courage and creative drive. Very nice romance.
I absolutely love Penny Wylder's enemies to lovers romance story! Darius and Holly families have a history of feuding wineries. There is fabulous sizzling chemistry between Holly and Darius. Holly is sexy, sweet, fierce, and sassy; Darius is one deliciously sexy man. When these two are thrown together at a business function the sparks start flying. It's a very modern day twist on the classic Romero and Juliet . It is a sexy and steamy read. I loved this book and loved that it was set in the fabulous Paso Robles, CA!
i enjoyed this couple ... their past relationship or interaction a family who does work in the vinyard world ... a Romeo to Juliet kind of relationship or romance??! sort of. i am curious why they didn't do a more outside or grape-y book cover??! fun read. steamy & hot. great style!
I give this book 5 stars. This book has a lot of chemistry and a great storyline. I voluntarily reviewed this Advanced Readers Copy of this book. This book is a must read book.
Another hot and fast paced novel from Penny Wylder. This is a standalone enemies to lovers romance with a great storyline and scorching hot sex.
Darius Bantham and Holly Spring are the children of rival winery owners. They both attend a weekend event to promote their wines and Darius makes it his goal to get Holly into his bed. She tries to deny their chemistry at first, but Darius is relentless in his pursuit of her. One hot kiss leads to much more. Can Holly and Darius overcome their families rivalry to be together?
She writes whole stories in a short amount of pages and I’m impressed every time. I feel like I got a whole book instead of a quick fix.
This is a enemies to lovers with a sort of Romeo & Juliet twist. Rival winemaker families, but the kids feel the pressure to continue the legacy. The kids are now adults and they hook up almost as soon as they have the chance. It’s illicit, sneaky and hot.
When all that is said and done, they get that lovely HEA. It’s hot and the story felt complete to me.
Enveloped in the bitter rivalry between their families for years, both of our main characters reach a cross road where they can carry on bitter traditions including trickery and sabotage or forge a new path with mutual respect, peace and trust. In life, love and wine actions speak louder than words.... it also helps when those actions can produce earth shattering orgasms with a flick of the tongue. Excellent read, highly recommend.
This has to be one of the dirtiest books by this author that I've read. But in such a good way. This book was hot hot hot, and it was just what I needed to read. It's quick, but the storyline is actually really well detailed. It's an enemies-to-lover's book, and the sexy times that take place are truly spectacular. I can't get over the dirty mouth on Darius!!
Loved this story Just when I personally thought I needed to switch tropes to keep me out of a book funk penny throws this perfect enemies to lovers at me like BAM ! The storyline and detail is spot on and the angst is ugh *fans self * definitely a Must read
Darius and Holly are the perfect match! Two heir to their vineyards meeting again at wine convention. As Holly is trying to win over some new clients Darius is trying to win Holly. By the end of the event the both have won big! Everything is better with wine!!
Such a good story. Holly and Darius have rivalry vineyards and when they meet again at a business function, all bets are off. With these enemies turned lovers be able to get their families together once and for all?
This enemies to Lovers story is very hit. Long-time rivals in the winery industry come together to heat in the sheets and everywhere else they happen to be. There’s not a lot of depth to this story but I did enjoy reading it.
Starting to get frustrated. The phrase 'thank you very much' is overly used throughout the PW books. While I appreciate reading her books and eagerly awaiting for new reIeases, I am starting to cringe each time I see it.
I was totally onboard with this so so winery/chef story with rival heirs becoming lovers until you had them proclaiming their love for one another within days of boning. I hate when things jump ahead unrealistically.
This book was so bad. They literally just fuck for almost the entire book, there is some drama near the end and after spending two days together they are already telling each other they love so much. Yeah right, whatever.
This was a very fun read. A little predictable, but great heat. Well written too. I can't stand a book that doesn't flow. Penny always produces good story lines.
