I thought it was really cute to see Chiyo and Yuu-kun strengthen their bond by doing every day activities, especially when Chiyo got really worried when Yuu-kun was late. Also, the mystery surrounding the newly introduced: Haru is interesting.
I’m very curious to learn her connection with Yuu-kun’s uncle, and if he’s actually getting better or only going to be awake for a short time then get ill again. Also, am I mislead or was there hints that Yuu-kun’s parents are both related to his uncle? I’m slightly confused about that.

Story 4,0/5
Charaktere 5,0/5
Zeichenstil 4,6/5
Wohlfühlfaktor 4,4/5
Gesamt 4,6/5

Getting back to this series after a long hiatus, and it's still just as good as I remember it. Volume three maintains the careful balance of sweetness, sensuality, and creeping dread that makes The Elder Sister-Like One so special--though, the addition of Haru, a rival(?) eldritch being could either bolster the narrative or completely derail it. Time will tell, but given the quality of Pochi's work thus far, I'm optimistic about how this new element will fit in.

This continues to be one of the most distinctive slice-of-life series I've ever read, with its consistently poignant explorations of the complexities of human relationships, despite one of the people being literally inhuman. I care about Chiyo and Yuu, and while Haru's introduction at the end promises to broaden the scope of the story, I hope the narrative never loses sight of the fragile core that makes it all so meaningful.

A Niche Title A Niche Review

The Elder Sister-Like One is a slice of life. Following life adventures of Yu and his sister Chiyo. Who happens to be a demon that Yu made a pact with to be his older sister. First and foremost those expecting a horror or dark fantasy story will be sorely disappointed as at its core the series is a slice of life. How Chiyo an ancient demon is trying to integrate to human society and be an older sister to Yu. Filled with fan service and I suppose siscon elements even though Chiyo isn't human but it can be off putting to some. In this volume it focuses on Yu not being open enough with his issues causing his sister to doubt herself. These moments are all in between slice of moment such as chiyo getting drunk and wanting head pats from Yu and Yu taking a bath with his demon sister in a fan service friendly scene. With the next volume setting up a new conflict with another demon. Ultimately I enjoyed The Elder Sister-Like One for what it is a fan service friendly slice of life. Recommendations are a different matter entirely as it's a niche title and this series won't everyone's cup of tea. At the time of this review there is no other media besides the manga. If you enjoy the slice of life genre and don't mind fan service than give a read. If you expect some horror or lovecraftian twist than I would skip the series.

Things are starting to get interesting.

Is brother going to continue to ignore & avoid sister's sexual advances? Can he? Does he even want to? Such an odd twisted relationship these 2 "siblings" have. And what's this? A new demon comes forth? And she knows brother & uncle? I forsee trouble! Art, excellent. Dialogue, very good. Characters, likeable, & interesting.

Another great volume. The artwork has such a beautiful flow to it and the story is cute, sensual and scary. I loved the introduction of Haru-san and can't wait for volume four!

New character, new mystery. Still really cute and wholesome but mature like the warning suggests.

Love the art style and sexy poses. I could not follow the story because this volume is where I picked up the series.

This series is actually pretty good, and has a fairly heart warming story line. It is worth the read and the artwork improves with every book.

The continuing adventures of Chiyo (otherwise known as Shub-Niggurath for those that want to see what I imagine she is based from) and Yu as they live a simple life as brother and sister...but with a hint of Ecchi (that even boarders on actual hentai) and more then a little tentacle action as the two of them experience various things such as late busses due to heavy rain, power outages during a bath, Chiyo discovering she can become drunk, and Chiyo realizing even though she tries hard to be as human as she can that needs to learn more about Yu including whatever is wrong with his health.

Also we meet a new "entity" who calls herself Haru which is written with the characters for sunshine (perhaps based loosely on "The Hound".) However it is clear regardless of how human she appears at first she is something else and like Chiyo she has gained an interest in the young Yu. However as Chiyo come in to discover her we are left at a cliffhanger as two potentially dangerous beings might clash over the poor Yu. :)

Highlights from this volume: Chiyo accidentally summoning Cthulu-like abominations through her terrible drawings, Chiyo and Yuu's walk home in a sunflower garden, drunk Chiyo (enough said), and Haru's introduction.

My thoughts?

WHEN IS VOLUME 4 COMING OUT, I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE PRONTO!!!!!
