New Perth's deadliest First Hand is now a sorceress. With magical powers to complement her formidable sword skills, Riley Trident heads to Sidnie with the fates of her best friend and an entire kingdom in her hands.
The practice of magic thrives in Sidnie, but Hemmons’ capabilities are far beyond those of even its most accomplished citizens. He shuts down their schools and opens his own, training warrior mages in round the clock shifts to achieve his ultimate
Sacking New Perth and conquering the nation.
Sensing the proximity of Riley’s magic, Hemmons steps up his efforts to find her. If the rising body count won't crush any hopes of a resistance and lure her out of the shadows, then perhaps Mason's agonizing death will.
Will Riley’s enhanced powers swing the battle against Hemmons, or will he, at long last, acquire the crown jewel he’s long coveted and rule the continent?
I don't know what made me want to scream more. Whether it was Rendal's ability to totally ignore anything that Riley says to him, or Riley's stubbornness in ignoring the advice of everyone around her, when they told her she wasn't ready to confront Rendal!
Probably both, to be honest!
This story started at a fast pace, and just kept clipping along, getting gradually faster and faster, until yet another confrontation happened.
Riley is just sooooo stubborn to though I really beli we be she's learned her lesson now - or will do, if William and the rest of the team can find the help they need for Riley to recover, and soon!
Fortunately for me, my reading list tells me that I can go on to the next book in this fast-paced series which is book four:agic Unchained.
I believe this is the last book in this series, so I'm hoping like crazy that Riley recovers, and learns to listen to Worth, and the rest of her friends - because she's going to need every bit of help possible, to stop Rendal in his tracks!
Riley has learned some control of her magic. Her friends don't think she is ready to win against Rendal, the evil mage. However, she can't bear to wait and not try to rescue Mason and prevent innocent lives from being lost. She is partially successful in her confrontation with Rendal, but at great cost to herself. Hence, the cliffhanger at the end. I like the action, humor, and love in the story. I look forward to the next book.
William and friends are keeping their eyes on Rendal. he has opened up a magic school and is sowing the seeds of discontent in Sidnie. Riley has tried time and again to prove that she is ready to beat Rendal, but Worth and the queen feel that she is being hasty. but off she goes anyway, perhaps not making the wisest choice.
excellent. loving the arena arcs this is following. can't wait to see what they find on their quest
Cliff hanger alert: Riley is in serious trouble at the end of this one. I like the way the protagonist is not perfect in this series but it does seem that she should have learned to listen to her mentors at least a little bit. Good characters, interesting storyline but please a little less stupidity from Riley in the next book!
Loved the new book and I loved the pace of the story. Great action and a true psycho for a bad guy. Then we get to the end hmmm. Was the author listening to eighties music when he was writing the last scenes. They are looking for Linda and the are having to go west. I look forward to more from this series😁
Book 3 starts where book 2 left off. Riley works to find her inner magic while the others track Rendell. The mage pulls off an almost impossible trick with major consequences for Sidnie. The character banter is sharp and funny. The danger they face is very real. I really like this storyline and look forward to book 4.
I wish there was a 4.5 rating, that is what I would give this book. The characters are starting to develop to full adult people. I really like how Riley can be a real badass one minute and then turn around and kind and loving to her team members the next. The joking and ribbing is hilarious and shows me of a family. Not sure where the story is going but it will be interesting to see.
Riley and crew continue on their journey to end Rendel. They are growing in skills, and Riley learns more about her magic. There is a lot of action, with hilarious lines delivered along the way.
Now to wait for book 4 and to see where it all ends.
Love how this story is progressing. Love that things are not easy but emphasizing how hard strong people can rush into situations they are not ready for against the advice of others. Wonderful.
When I started reading the first book then then the second then finally the third i could not put the. Books down . Cell in love with all the characters. The only one I disliked was Rendal of course .
Holy crap, can someone please slap the shit out of Riley! Seriously, she was told she wasn’t ready, she was told not to go, but did she listen? NO! Now look what’s happened to her. Can’t wait to read book 4 to see what happens next.
This was a good book, I really enjoyed the action and characters. This series and universe are a lot of fun. I look forward to future books in the series and universe.
Riley, ughhhh can someone else be the main character. She just will not listen. Her friends are trying to also save the kingdom and relying on her to learn her magic, but she is just to impetuous
