*All stories in the Real Man series are complete standalone titles.*GretaBerserkers. They were known to be the fiercest of all Norse warriors, charging into battle in a wild frenzy, no protection except the weapon they held in their hand. Said to have the spirit of a wild animal inside of them, they were feared … revered. And I had fallen in love with one. Calder I was a wanderer, a free spirit. I was paid to track and hunt, to kill. It’s what I did, how I survived. And I loved every minute of it. But I found myself going to the same village because of one person … Greta. I shouldn’t want her. She’s far too innocent for the likes of me, more animal, more feral than the fiercest of Vikings. But I couldn't stop myself from being drawn to her. And then she’s taken from me. I'd track her, hunt her down and bring her back. But that’s not all I'd do. Once Greta was back in my arms, I was claiming her and never letting her go.
“Calder,” she whispered, awe and a little apprehension clear in her voice. “Yes, Calder the Feral.” I whispered, too. But mine wasn’t filled with fear or uncertainty. Mine was filled with desire.
Viking quick romance. If you don't mind your men a bit savage, big and definitely dirty.
“My female wants me out of control? You want me to let the beast free, to claim you in the way I see fit?”
Greta knows her family - parents, brother, and sister - could use the money, yet she can't help but be relieved when her dad refuses Elig's offer for her. He makes Greta's skin crawl for reasons she doesn't understand, she just know she'll continue to avoid him as much as possible. Something that isn't always easy to do in their village. Besides, he isn't Calder, the man, the Viking berserker, she'd love to spend time with.
Calder was born to be a berserker, and as such, has resigned himself to being alone, his wanderlust not fit to be a family man, but since the first time he saw Greta, he couldn't help but question if he could change. The life he wants to have with her quite a draw to be a different man in some ways. After getting to talk to her, knowing it's time to see if she feels it too, to explore what they could have, he may lose his chance after Greta's asks for his help when Elig kidnaps her.
Doing whatever he needs to in order to save her, and destroy Elig, Calder sets out to rescue her, knowing there's no other option for him but to do so. When he finds Greta, and ending the threat to her once and for all, he shares his feeling, thankful when she returns them.
But can a berserker, someone who roams the land, settle in one place? Will being with the woman he loves make it easier to do? Is a HEA possible?
One-click now and follow along as two people finally get the chance to act on their love. I adore this series and can't wait for the next one.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.**

One of my favourite authors when I need a pick me up and this series will always be a MUST read for me.
Jenika Snow is my go to author when I need just a quick read that is full of drama, spice, love, and smut.
She can roll everything into one short story and every single one I’ve read so far is absolutely brilliant.
If you want loyal ass men that have eyes for only one woman and would do absolutely anything to help her and keep her? All her stories (that I’ve read) end up in the cutest HEAs as well.
HOLY SWEET BABY VIKING! I absolutely love Vikings and how they came to be. I watch TV shows all the time so when I saw that Jenika was writing a story about Vikings I jumped at the chance to read it and I have to say that this is a MUST MUST READ for all who love Viking stories and strong men who will do anything for their woman.
Calder is a Berserker Viking who is known to be the baddest Viking there is. He is feared by all because he is known to hunt down his prey and kill it. But he finds himself going back to one village to see a Greta. She gets his blood boiling and he wants her for himself and he plans on making her his when he goes to see her after completing his job. But when he gets there Greta is gone. Someone has taken her and he is pissed off going into killer mode he is going to hunt down and kill whoever it is.
Greta has always loved Calder from the moment she saw him but he is a Berserker and a free spirit that travels doing his jobs and never staying in one place. She is beautiful and then men in the village notice her and one in particular wants her and is determined to get her. So he takes her one day and she is determined to get free and get back to the love of her life.
Can Calder track them down in time to get his woman? This story has so much angst and suspense that it had me on the edge of my seat reading like crazy until I found out what happened. This is a MUST MUST read!
A wild and dangerously hot Viking romance. One that is red-hot, quick and steamy! It's an over the top PNR love story! Calder and Greta were two people definitely drawn to one another but then someone threatens her and tries to take what is really Calder's!!. Calder showed what a Berserker is truly made of. The story isn't meant to be pretty but when is love ever ? Calder and Greta really showed what love is all about and Calder proved his love when he saved her and he claimed her. Wowza!!!! This is a story you won't forget about anytime soon.
I have suuuuuuch a weakness for viking/berserker alpha men. Calder is so possessive and hot it had me swooning. Greta has watched Calder from afar just as he has watched her. After a spurned marriage proposition Egil decided to steal Greta and Calder just isn’t having that he hunts him down and claims what’s his. Greta and Calder finally coming together was pure passion and fire it was sexy and was a perfect ending. Five stars I’m never disappointed by a book from Jenika Snow.- By Tiffany
"You can take the man out of the fight, but you can't take the berserker out of the man. I just happened to be tamed by the woman I loved. But only for her."
Greta Leifsdotter is fortunate in that her father wants her to have a say in who will be her husband refusing all offers, many sizable, until she agrees to the match. Unfortunate for the men who seek to make her theirs, Greta's heart is already taken. which no amount of money or incentives will change.
Calder, nomad Berserker, is a fearsome warrior and tracker who has aided Greta's settlement many a time but keeps distant otherwise. Reputed to have the heart of a wild animal, his battle skills assure the side he's fighting for victory.
When a rebuffed suitor takes matters into his own hands to kidnap Greta, Calder is recruited to find her.
His price? Greta herself.

The author started this story with an explanation that she didn't keep true to historical factoids and/or that this story is "totally wild and unrealistic."
The author actually includes the following warning prior to the actual story that pretty much spells things out: "This story is totally wild and unrealistic. It holds no actual historical facts and is purely for reading enjoyment in all it's craziness. It's filthy and sexy, features a totally over-the-top hero who only has eyes for one woman, and he'll do whatever it takes to make her his. If you don't like Vikings before now, that's about to change. *wink*"
When I scope out books (recommended, etc) I do it with the purpose to check out what type of story I'll be reading. Whether it's going to be an action adventure, mystery suspense, comedy, dark, or whatever. Of course that's on top of the fact the story should include adult content scenes, the dirtier the better. Over that I don't want to know specifics that might serve as spoilers. In the spirit of that sort of sharing - this story is intended to provide the reader with a foil that sets the stage for the erotica scene content. Read this book if you're looking for a hot historical-ish smut.
At 66 pages, this quickie story lacks depth and/or fleshing out of individual scenes (except the actual erotica content) while the dialogue is certainly not consistent with characters from that time period. But. It will leave readers with that warm fuzzy happy feeling that comes with a HEA ending.
The author, Jenika Snow once again has given us, her readers and fans, a smash hit of a story! :) Calder, a Berserker warrior, fierce, loyal and very strong, is one of the most feared human beings' known but the moment he meets Greta, he knows deep within his hardened warrior soul that she was meant for him and will do absolutely EVERYTHING to claim her as his. He lets everyone know that Greta is his but another man wants her too and kidnaps her with the intention of forcing her to be his wife (don't worry guys, there's no sexual violence in this story) and Calder will do everything in his power to recover his woman and end the man who dared try to take his Greta.
Greta, a young and genuine innocent woman, is also loyal and protective, especially her family and when she meets Calder, she knows that he is special, that he makes her feel what she's never felt in her life but before they can declare their feelings to one another, she's taken. Now, Greta somehow felt that Calder felt that same intense chemistry and connection that she felt for him upon laying eyes on him and hopes that Calder, her Berserker warrior will track her and hunt down the man delusional enough to think he can try to take what doesn't belong to him.
This story may be a short story but it contains everything that any longer story would contain; passion, heat, a bit of angst, some action, great chemistry between the main characters, NO CHEATING, a safe read, a faithful hero and heroine, no sexual scenes with ow/om, a hunk of an alpha male, a genuine, innocent but at the same time, feisty heroine (sometimes they don't have to be that innocent to be awesome heroines ;) and a guaranteed happily ever after and this short read contains all of that <3 :)
As I said before, this was awesome story written by the amazing author, Jenika Snow and I'm already anticipating her next story :) Go ahead and read this short story because I can guarantee you, you definitely will not regret doing so ;)
This is a story that was so awesome and such a great read. The story is part of "A Real Man #18" and I have read all of them and each one gets better and better although to me this one was the best and most exciting one to read, for me. I had not read a Berserker story before but I do love Vikings. The story is about Calder, a Norse warrior/berserker, who has fallen in love with Greta, a young girl. He keeps coming back to the same village because of her. He watches her, knowing he shouldn't only he can't not watch her. Greta listens to her father tell Egil that she is not for sale but Egil argues with her father that he doesn't have any other offers and it's an insult for him not to accept his offer. Her father tells him that he would never be able to afford her and that he has rejected his offer and now he should leave. Egil is known by all that he is heartless and dangerous in nature and Greta worries that he might retaliate against her father. Greta asks her father why he didn't except Egil's offer for her and he replied, You are my daughter. Greta has only one man that she wants to be with. Calder, the berserker, wanderer, the feral. She wasn't afraid as Calder had been the only male she had been interested in, desired even though she hadn't even spoken to him. During the night Greta is awakened and has realized that what has awakened her was a hand covering her mouth and she was being moved around the main hall toward the entrance. Once outside Greta found out who had taken her when she was told not to make a sound or her family would pay tenfold.
Jenika Snow is back with another installment in the Real Man series, one that features swoonworthy alpha males who don't mind getting their hands dirty in more than one way and women who bring them to their knees on sight. Berserker was a fast, sexy, intense, over-the-top novella romance that had me blushing, swooning, and falling head over heels in love. Jenika amped up the heat and filth in this one plus Calder and Greta were everything I totally expected them to be.
If you like your bedtime stories naughty and nice then this author is definitely a must read.
I highly recommend this book.

Prepare to love Vikings even more after picking up this one. For being such a fast read Berserker really packs a punch with scorching heat only slightly mellowed out with some delicious sweetness. This novella starts off with some seriously electric chemistry between Greta and Calder that continues to grow into to an explosive heat that will have you panting. A pinch of drama and action bring even more to the story giving you a quick read that leaves you feeling completely satisfied.
I enjoyed this book a lot more than the books before it. This book actually had a story line. I enjoyed the way Ms. Snow wrote Calder and Greta's story. He even got to save her from the bad guy. I appreciated the dialogue between the H and h. The H didn't overly talk the sexual action. I did find the h a bit bold when it came to what she wanted sexually from the H, given the time period. Women weren't very vocal about sex during that time but as it was pointed out the the book blurb, this book isn't historically accurate. Overall, I liked this book a lot more and enjoyed the story line.

Another Jenika Snow Real Man Book. Each book is a stand alone story about an over the top alpha male who finds instant love and is determined to get the woman of his desires. Greta is a damsel in distress heroine who pines for Calder, our beserker hero. Calder watches her from a far until she’s kidnapped and he realizes she’s everything to him. Steamy hot unrealistic fun.
Sometimes this is just the kind of book that you need. It’s kind of like a sharp, satisfying shot of espresso when you’ve been drinking a lot of cappuccinos and lattes.
At just 66 pages long - I devoured this book in one sitting and felt fully satisfied once I hit the end. You’re gripped from the start and there are no slow parts or much back story, making this a real page turner.
Despite the short length - you easily get to know the characters and root for them. Oh, except for the bad guy - I happily hated him and was hoping for his comeuppance for his dastardly deeds! Greta was a sweet, shy girl but she was no pushover. She wasn’t a dumb, damsel in distress that needed saving by a big, strong, sexy warrior. But since there’s a big, strong, sexy warrior who wants her with a fierce passion and wants to save her - what’s a girl to do but let him?
I love it when a strong, silent man - especially one who feels unworthy of the love of a good woman - finds his match and his happiness. Calder was such a man and I was so pleased for him to get his happy ever after! Much pleased sighing.
I wondered if the sex scenes would just be tacked on at the end of the action almost as an aside - since our couple aren’t properly introduced until the start of the story. I was happy that they weren’t but, to be honest, when they’re this good - who really cares where in the story they come!?
I’m not a fan of anal sex so normally just skip these parts in a book. Unfortunately for me - it was the epilogue that contained these scenes so skipping them wasn’t really an option as you know how much I adore an epilogue! I would love it if I could find a filthy, sexy book that didn’t think anal was the "ultimate step in intimacy" - but that’s just a personal thing.
The author herself mentions that this is a quick and dirty, wham-bam sort of book. While she says it doesn’t focus on historical accuracy - I was still pleased that none of the characters were texting each other or using zips or what not. It might not be true to the period but it’s still done with some thought which makes me happy.
Overall this is a quick, espresso shot of a read - short, sharp, sexy and fun. Definitely a good choice to keep things interesting. 4 stars.
Jenika Snow can pen a short story I tell you. I just love her Real Man series and Berserker is a great addition.
Gotta love us some hot Viking right? Calder..mmm swoon time. No really A viking he is, a wanderer but he always comes back to that/this one village.
Back in the day when you were told who you were marrying it was rare that a Father gave you his daughter a say in what your future will be. Greta's father wanted her to be happy and saying no to the Jack #@# well was his right.
Very quick read, hot and steamy had a lot of fun reading it, the cover is amazing!! get it grab it and enjoy.
Berserker is a full on alpha takes his mate novella. It's sizzling white hot and fierce but also has some incredibly swoonworthy moments too. Calder and Greta have noticed each other from afar but never done anything about it until life changed in a blink of an eye and Calder went on a mission to retrieve his one and only. This is one fierce alpha you can't say no too so I suggest you buy/borrow this novella as soon as you can. Calder is waiting in his furs for you to unleash the beast 😉
Ms. Snow has taken it upon herself to bring us a sexy Viking in her most recent Real Man story. This book is not historically accurate, but it is sexy, steamy and intense. Sometimes you just want a quick read that can give you an alpha male that knows what he wants and the woman who is happy to oblige. This book fits the bill and as usual Jenika Snow does not let us down with some seriously over the top sex scenes! Check it out for a perfect afternoon or night time read!
loved this one. Greta was a young woman wanting to be with one man. But there was another that wanted her even against her will. There was only one that could save her. But would he be in time. Calder was a berserker. They lived on the fringe of society because they were feared. But Calder wanted Greta with all he was. Then he heard she had been taken. He had to get her back she was his and his alone. There is nothing like a Berserker especially one going after what was his. Will he be in time or will his world fall apart?? Read and find out. You will not be disappointed.
He is a warrior and he is very fierce but he finds himself being drawn towards one village where she was. She was too innocent for him but when she is taken he will do anything to get her back and when her his. Will he succeed? See if he will
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This one is my favourite Real Man Book this year. Absolutely loved it. Vikings/Beserkers, stolen virgins & growly MINE type claiming. Completely OTT and I loved it.
I love this series...at #18...still love at first sight, lust up to the eye balls, and insta-marriage/relationship. A Real Man seals the deal fast...LOL
Review of Berserker by Jenika Snow ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (4.5/5)
Berserker is exactly what I crave in a short, punchy Viking romance—fast-paced, intense, and unapologetically over-the-top. The premise hooked me right away: Greta is kidnapped by a man whose proposal her father refused, and Calder, the fierce berserker who has always watched her from the shadows, strikes a deal with her father—he’ll rescue her, but her hand will be his in return. That dynamic sealed it for me. I’m a sucker for Vikings, and Calder embodied that wild, possessive energy perfectly.
What I enjoyed most was the urgency of the rescue. The abduction set the stakes high, and Calder’s relentless determination to claim Greta added a primal edge to the story. I liked that it wasn’t just about physical protection—there was also an emotional undercurrent of Calder finally allowing himself to stop wandering and belong to someone. Greta, while sweet and shy, held her own as the heart of the story.
Jenika Snow keeps her storytelling short and sharp, and Berserker fits that model seamlessly. The novella doesn’t waste time with filler; instead, it hones in on core tropes: the obsessive alpha male, the rescue-and-claim arc, and a clear HEA. The Viking backdrop is more fantasy than historical realism, but it works as intended—an atmospheric stage for Calder’s raw, protective intensity.
The dual POV helps emphasize the mutual fixation, showing Greta’s longing alongside Calder’s possessiveness. Snow’s style leans into exaggerated devotion, and while it’s not subtle, it’s effective for readers who want escapist, high-heat romance without slow-burn buildup. The pacing can feel rushed if you’re craving depth, but that’s the nature of this series: distilled fantasy.
Berserker delivers exactly what it promises—an alpha hero who would burn the world to protect his woman, a heroine whose sweetness doesn’t diminish her strength, and a rescue plot that satisfies both tension and heat. For anyone who loves Vikings, possessive heroes, and high-stakes romance, this one is a bite-sized gem.
