Know what’s worse than being forced to marry your depraved, sadistic alpha? Hiding his corpse.
Ten years after storms and seismic disasters ravaged the world, only one major forest remains intact in the United States, and my werewolf pack is responsible for keeping Heartland Forest for the wolves. Jacob Knight may have been a terrible alpha, but he kept the fae, vampires, and man-eating trolls from taking over Heartland. Day by day, they close in on us.
For two years, I’ve gotten away with murder, and it hasn’t been easy. I live a lie, and it’s eating me up inside. It’s a price I must pay to keep my secrets buried and my pack safe.
But nothing stays buried for long in Heartland Forest.
When Jacob’s three alpha brothers ride their motorcycles into town, claiming they want to rent a room in the apartment building I manage, I know they’re here for more than low rent and creaky pipes.
Do I have what it takes to take on three dirty alphas?

Scarlet: kinda bitchy, very aloof for being all high and mighty and alpha. Darrel: if he’s supposed to be the badass with the nice heart, we got all nice heart and no badass. I was expecting more. Lance: you mope, like a lot. Aaron: please fall in love with Mack. Mack: the only confident one that’s strangely left out but doesn’t seem to phase. Zeezee: I didn’t even know what was going on here but she’s an extremely underdeveloped character for being so important to Scarlet.
This book lacked a lot of emotion. Which is necessary.
The plot was G R E A T until the end, where the main villain dies again.
Now what? What’s book 2 about?
WHERE IS THE EMOTION???
Honestly the best character in this book was Allyson, the mother. Not only does that bitch fight her way through man-eating werewolves with a fucking purse. She also speaks her mind and makes everything so awkward. I loved it.
I wanted to like this but I don’t enjoy “romances” and especially ménage or supposed RH with immature characters and a h who lacks self awareness....
When the book first starts and the h is having to defend herself against the evil, evil alpha and i was liking the story.... I liked how brave and clever she seemed... I disagreed with the idea of pretending her father was the new “alpha” but it’s not like I could stop it could I... Well next thing we know over two years have passed and Scarlett has supposedly left and came back and is now managing an apartment complex ( why did she come back?) ( we don’t know) and of course dating a loser she doesn’t want willing blind to the fact her “best friend “ Mack is deeply I love with her... Huge eye roll here... ⚠️ might contain spoilers ⚠️ Her d bag ex was supposedly wanting her to stay a virgin all the while cheating on her.... right ok... and of course she was totally clueless, she’s also supposedly mates w/the evil alphas younger triplet brothers.... But it’s like want you ... but not you... I’ll slap with you but avoid you ...while acting like friends with benefits one minute and not sure I’m good enough for you the next... lame angst and drama because the heroine is young and immature and lacks self awareness and one minute wants to discuss her feelings and then wants to run and play hide and seek with them next... Big deals were made out of some thing’s and others were ignored and shoved aside....
Honestly a almost 21 year old virgin, who doesn’t know what she wants out of life,is practically engaged to a guy she doesn’t want and then five seconds after she catches him naked and post sex w/a close female relative goes then off and has sex w/her bff and one her future mates and then is all like,”it wasn’t revenge sex,but all I wanted is sex.” Or something to that effect, leaving both males either hurting or confused or both... just left me really annoyed .... You don’t dump the d bag loser you never really wanted, lose your virginity to your bestie to dumb to know he’s been in love with you for years and then push him away like it’s no big deal.. Why ? Coz you just not in the mood and “Hey, it’s never been romantic between us.” Seriously ? one the other reviewers was right,NOT erotic AT ALL but that’s ok,the story and building things should be the most important thing... But an immature and flaky h doesn’t make a good story either... Dear lord,if your doing PNR where your characters can in theory live for hundreds and hundreds of years ( especially if it’s a ménage or RH) why do you have to make them soo young and immature as lacking and true self awareness?
The other part of the plot and how lax the immature heroine was about that wasn’t much better... I honestly wish the one after her had killed her after all... I didn’t like it but I felt it was too good ( per se) to receive less stars ⭐️ I personally wouldn’t recommend it because, well I didn’t enjoy it... But I won't say not to read it,because well, to each their own...
Little slow burn, the story is also a bit slow. But the book isn’t bad for a RH. It’s decent. It was also slightly predictable, however after that the story progresses well. I am still not sure if Mack will end up being part of the harem. He’s Fae and they aren’t supposed to technically be together. I really hope he becomes a mate though.
The triplets are interesting guys but we don’t know much about them. Hopefully we will get more with book 2.
I recently saw that this book was being released. With a title like Dirty Alphas, I though this would be one of those heavy on erotica but light on plot books that seem to be churned out in massive quantities. Those books can be fun and many people love them but it wasn't what I was looking for. Luckily, I wanted a shifter book, was tired of searching and noticed the good reviews so I decided to read this anyway. I am so glad that I did. I loved the characters and enjoyed the setting though I look forward to deeper character and world development in future books. The pacing is good so I stayed interested. What I think will cause the most critism is that the first intimate encounter is completely unbelievable for a multitude of reasons. I mean 99% of romance books aren't realistic, thankfully but this takes it A LOT further. As long as you don't mind suspending your disbelief, the adult scenes are steamy and not overly done in page count or number. I think that those looking for an RH that has more plot than s$x will enjoy this.
I didn’t like it. The heroine is weak and virginal and no matter how badass her wolf is, she herself is a shrinking pacifist.
The chemistry could be okay if not for the heroine’s weird virginity. But even the romance feels off, The first meeting is fine but at a random time they suddenly start calling each other by nicknames and being too physically intimate and talking like old friends. All that tension and chemistry disappears.
Of course she runs scared after getting mate marked and even the sex itself was some bullshit sex therapy excuse. Her mother over sharing her sex therapy observations was also very weird.
There are just so many issues but the main one for me is that out of the blue the one guy who’s supposed to be dead shows up. Like… come on. Aren’t there enough new problems without bringing back what was already resolved. Bad writing is what I call that!
Whaaaaattttt! 3.5ish almost just rounded it up... l have to be legit honest, I accidentally downloaded this of KU.. like it was for real an accident and I went immediately to correct my mistake and find something to download in its place when I started to feel guilty for not giving it a chance. Let me first say, I'm not a fan of the cover, to me, it looks a tad on the cheesy side. Reverse harems are hit or miss with me. I find it amazing that author's even attempt them, I mean it must be difficult to create chemistry between 2 characters let alone between 2+ characters and give them all some sort of dynamic all the while trying to make a story take place. There in lies the problem for most RHN I give a try.. the story gets lost in a bunch of eye rolling smut.. most of the time. Also, I find it hard to believe that a woman would want to take on more than one dude.. permanently lol. I mean realistically...that's all the more dishes, laundry everywhere, shavings in the sink.... but its fantasy.. so I roll with it lol.
This book was surprisingly good, I did feel like there was quite a few plot holes, and some confusion on the world building that kept me from absolutely loving it but the story was prominent not the smut which is hands down a winner for me in the RH genre. So the blurb itself gave us more backstory and world building than the actual story did.. I almost felt like this was a sequel or a spin off or something, and it also didn't feel like the story was over though this episode concluded pretty nicely. The book also started us off in a really confusing situation with no preparation and it didn't go on to explain said situation till much later in the book.
Scarlet our FMC, starts of seemingly kidnapped by a madman, Jacob Knight, not only is he a madman but he is the alpha of her wolf shifter pack. He wants to force her and her wolf to submit to him after forcing her into marriage all the while holding her family hostage. During their tussle Scarlet is gravely injured and though as a human she works out a deal that in exchange for her family's freedom, her wolf refuses to submit and rips out his throat. Her father runs in seeing what has happened and that pack alpha has transferred to Scarlet, but they know they are in trouble because it wasn't won legally through challenge. There was no in depth preparation or backstory explaining the laws governing the shifters and magical creatures.. which was a little confusing. So Dad and Scarlet hide it and Dad poses as Alpha so Scarlet can have a normal life, all the while Scarlet must keep her wolf hidden so no one notices it is an alpha... Until a year later when Scarlet must return to the pack because Dad can no longer keep up the pretense with Scarlet so far away.. The governing "council" for the wolves have already sent 3 alphas of their own to take the pack away to keep it strongly out of Fae grasp, 3 other Knight brothers, who instantly have a connection with Scarlet despite her non dominant status in the pact.. of course Scarlet already is in deep with the Fae her best friend being a Fae prince.. The 3 Knight brothers aren't the only ones skulking around however, someone else is out to get Scarlet, someone very dangerous...
It was a pretty enjoyable read for me and I flew through the book really despite all the holes. I dodged them pretty well and just kept on going. I am left wondering about all the possibilities... kind of wish there was more to answer all my questions.
The cover and the blurb almost feel like a bait n’ switch, but in a good way. I had the impression that this would be a naughty read, a guilty pleasure type. I enjoy those, certainly, but I have to be in the mood for one. This book landed in my KU queue, then I gave it back unread before seeing it again recently. I decided to try it, and holy smokes am I glad I did! Yes, there is a physical aspect to this narrative, but it is so much more - there’s a real story here, and dang good writing. I would classify it a medium burn RH within a full PNR world. Somewhat dystopian and fully immersive, it grabs you and doesn’t let go. And there’s nothing filthy about it.
Pros: - A real plot, deftly woven. - Emotions are high and feel real. - Mack. Love that Fae. - Zeezee.... she’s a naughty little thing you can’t help but adore.

I'm so glad that i got to read this ARC because this book is amazing, I wish I could give it more than 5 stars! I honestly haven't read a wolf series that I've truly enjoyed until this one! The characters were so easy to love (especially Mack! Total sweetheart!!) And the story so hard to put down! I stayed up til 4 am because I couldn't stop reading! I really hope there's a second book (and more Mack just saying!)
3.4 The title delivers. Scarlet is an alpha female, and in this verse alpha females tend to have more than one mate... So it allows for Aaron, Darrel, Lance and even sexy, fae Mack to have jealousy-free fun. It was a roller coaster here and there, with the strange stalker and military-esque wolves presenting a "mystery" to unravel. Im sure I'll pick up book two.
Love the FMC in this book. She is a badazz alpha female who shows men who's boss. Has a true mate claim with 3 hot triplets, plus a fae prince. Can't wait to see what happens next.
This was great I didn't put the book down for more then two seconds can't wait book two to come out it also had satisfying end but still leaving pumped up for the next book
She has got her mates and her pack so life seems good until murder happens at a party. Now the queen is after revenge and blaming someone in her pack. Who do it? Will she save her pack? Will. She find who really did it? See if she will
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Shifter books are great, but this one is incredibly well written. Sexy, fun, suspenseful, dramatic, and fabulously fantastic. Can't wait to read book 2!
This book was amazing. The MC had such a traumatic life and of course as she is hiding from her past 3 big problems waltz in to her office. This book is fast paced and has a lot of twist and turns. Mack was for sure my favorite in the book as a fae prince he is certainly a charmer with a big heart.
1st clue that this would be a DNF her boyfriend's name - Zane, her sister's name ZeeZee. Zero effort there. It was all 'high school' drama with a super small h, super smart, super gorgeous, teaches super dancing and works full time as a super - for apartment block. Oh yes, she's also secretly a super Alpha! Her mother is a sex therapist, her boyfriend's mother is a doctor, her father is super protective, and they are all super sneaky. Now I could have continued except for the TELLING! That was the deal breaker believe it or not.
This was a great read and I can't wait until the next one. I fell in love with all the characters and felt like I was there reading along. Definitely 5 stars.
Shifter reverse harem novel. Great book. I loved it.
Scarlet, a female shifter, is kidnapped and forced to marry the alpha. She doesn't want to do it, she doesn't want him to rape her, but she can't help it. But she tries and he hurts her badly. Before dying, she ask to promise to free her family, her other wives, and he tells her he will do it, as long as she submits to him in mind, body and soul. She does, but her inner wolf attacks and kills him. Her father finds her soon after and they decide to lie. If they tell what really happened, other shifters will judge her, because she killed the alpha without a challenge. Her father will say that he challenged the alpha and that he died in a duel. He will be the new alpha. Only in name, because she has killed the previous alpha, and she is the alpha. For that reason, she cannot be far away, because her father cannot feel the other members of their pack.
The younger brothers of the murdered alpha, exiled by him at 16, receive the news of his death. They do not regret it, because he was cruel with them and he wanted them dead, but they fear that his death will cause a conflict between the shifters and other supernatural beings. They decide not to intervene right now, but they will do so in the future.
Two years later, Scarlet is happy. She has a boyfriend, a family, a job she's got on her own merits. But everything changes when the three brothers introduce themselves and tell her that they want to assume the leadership of her pack. Se doesn't want her father to be hurt and says she will challenge them. Her plan changes. She confesses to his father that, if her inner wolf manages to submit to one of them, he will surrender and give them the leadership.
But the plans never go as planned. She didn't count on her boyfriend's betrayal, on approaching the three brothers in a way she hadn't thought possible, on intimately approaching her best friend, who's been in love with her for years. She didn't think they would be her mates. And she didn't believe that the alpha who she killed had survived.
Scarlet wants to do the right thing. She wants to do what's best for the pack, protect and take care of her family, and it's not always easy to do everything at once.
I loved Mack. Scarlet's friend, madly in love with her, wants to take care of her and not lose her best friend. I loved Darrel, a sweet, nice man. His pack loves him, and he is the first that Scarlet trusts and befriends. And Aaron, who said he's a bad boy, but Scarlet doesn't believe he is. He isn't cruel like their older brother. Lance ... Hard, he always does what he has to do. He's afraid of losing her, of she not seeing him as he is, of not deserving her.
I recommend it.
I received a complimentary ARC from the author, and this is my honest review.
Dirty Alphas told the story of Scarlett, who ascended as the female alpha of her pack against her will; when her life was in danger in the hands of their psychotic and narcissistic alpha, Jacob. To cover up her crime, her father took the alphahood while she continues living her life.
Two years later, the past came to haunt her when Jacob's three younger brothers showed up to take over the Six Rivers Pack. Not only her life might be forfeited should they found out the truth, she might also lose her heart to the three hot alphas.
I have enjoyed reading this book. The author kept it as realistic as possible, most especially the FMC's character. How Scarlett started to "woman up"; stopped hiding from her father's shadow, own up her to her crime and take over the responsibility of alpha. The story is told through multiple POV which is a plus for me because it showed each character's personality. It has good storyline, well written, packed with enough action and romance for everyone.
I'm not sure if this is a stand alone. I really hope not because there is much more that I would love to see/ explained: *How was Jacob alive when Scarlett's father said there was no sign of life? *Why was Jacob the way he is (I would love to hear a brief backstory) *I want to see how her relationship with Lance develops (the ending was a bit open ended for me, I'm hoping it's because there's book 2). *The Knight's brothers and Prince Macklin's role in Scarlett's life now that she is the alpha (how will they work it out since werewolves and fae are sworn enemies?).
I received an ARC from the authors and am choosing to leave a fair and honest review.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Get ready for 3 hot alpha brothers (oh and let's not forget the fae prince ;) ) An entertaining first book of the series! 3.5*
Worldbuilding was decent but I would have liked some more info what was so special about their piece of forest and why (as opposed to other area's in the forest) they have no issue with the fae. We know what happened to the region but not why. Were the earthquakes a result of something mankind did or was it just earth having a serious (and continuous) hissyfit?
Charactbuilding was good. I do so prefer a fated-mates romance to build up and not be jumping each other's bones as soon as you meet them! We know a fair deal about Scarlet and her family (well, maybe not that much about Zeezee apparently) but not enough about the alpha males barging into her life. Nor that much about Mack, but that might just be because of the 'Truce' they called: not sharing info about their shifter- of fae happenings with another. While I liked the characters, I felt they could have been fleshed out more, especially concerning their emotions.
Pacing and flow were good. It kept me entertained and I read the whole thing in one sitting (yes, I'm very tired atm.. I should really stop reading when I go to bed!). Good balance between conversation and action.
The book itself was well written with no (noticeable) errors and yes, there is sex described (if that is important to you).
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and all in all, I liked it! While it may not have the depth of characters I would have liked to see, it was still a very entertaining book. I hope more info about them (as well as the world they live in) will be revealed in book nr 2.
I judged this book by its cover and that was a mistake
I really like Scarlet! She's such a good balance of feisty, strong woman who also has sensitivities and logic. She doesn't just roll over to her circumstances. She makes sacrifices, is in tune with others (esp. other species), and stands up for herself. However, she's not run by her hormones (read: lust). My only complaints are 1) the boyfriend (ugh) and how she let that run her life. (Though, honestly, one could interpret that to be a coping thing just as much as a character flaw). And 2) that brownies aren't a personality trait.
Mack is absolutely the best, and I'm so glad he's involved in the harem. What a great change to the fated-mates-trope. Aaron and Darrel and good, if maybe... too samey? Lance is the broody one we all expect. We get to see more of Mack's personality with the dance class, but not so much with the brothers. I do wish the brothers would have had more time on the page to shine and differentiate.
There's a good mixed of politics (with both wolfs and other supernaturals), personal drama, and y'know trauma. It's not the most detailed or fleshed out world, but it's pretty good and ultimately enjoyable.
Run of the mill smut - is enjoyable, not over the top, but I want more!
Dirty Alphas Kindle Edition by Alexa B. James (Author), Angelina Avery (Author) I received an eARC from the authors and am choosing to leave a fair and honest review.
All I have to say – or at least all I have to start out with is please, please let this be a series! I am in love with everyone, from Mack, the fae prince (who wouldn't love him) to Lance to Scarlett!
Ms. James and Ms Avery give us a world where humanity has been pushed aside due to an almost Apocalyptic series of earthquakes and the much hardier supernaturals.
Scarlett is one of these hardy supernaturals, a werewolf, a female alpha werewolf. After assuming the alphahood of her pack, she hides it by placing the pack in her father's scholarly hands. Things do not go well and a set of triplet werewolf brothers prepare to overtake her father and assume the pack.
Of course, in a RH this smexy, this tightly written with such great characters, there is always more to it. But I so am not giving it away because it is just that darned good.
Wonderful relationships, evil siblings, true mates. And hot moments with strong willed but damaged men.
This was HOT.. yep all capital letters. That freaking HOT!
I mean what’s not HOT about three alpha werewolves, one Fae Prince and a rare virgin female alpha werewolf.
Scarlett has a Doctor boyfriend, her dad is alpha of her pack, she has a hot Fae Prince best friend... what’s not to love about her life.
She also has a secret that could get her and her family killed.
Lance, Aaron and Darrel are Alpha werewolf brothers that want to take over the Six Rivers pack. When they come to town they get more than what they were bargaining for. Scarlett doesn’t hold the punches and she doesn’t take shit from anyone. Better hold on these wolves are gonna take you for a ride!
Can I also say how crazy big this book is! Really one of the most packed books I’ve read in a long time.
This will definitely be one that I go back to reread.. probably more than once.. at least until book two comes out (yes I’m praying there’s a book two🤞🙏🏼)
I wasn't sure how the book was going to go but from the synopsis it sounded good and it was I enjoyed reading it so much I couldn't put it down. Right from the beginning it grips you with a brave and Ferocious young female wolf named Scarlet who will do whatever she can to save her family so makes a deal with her psycho Alpha (Jacob) with devastating effects. But years later and living in a sense of peace that peace is shattered by the arrival of Jacob Knights 3 younger brothers who are each alphas in their own right. But Scarlet must hide a big secret from everyone in the Pack, whilst dealing with A wayward sister, a possessive boyfriend, a sexual crush on her best-friend/fae prince, 3 Alphas who seem interested in her and a behind the scenes force who is set on capturing and killing her. With all this what's a girl to do. This was really good and loved every minute of it and cant wait to read the next book in the series
For two years Scarlett and her father try and cover up a justified act. Then the ex-alphas brothers come to town looking to take back the reigns for the Six Rivers Pack. Scar isn't letting that happen and tells the Knight brother that they will have to go through her to get to her father. Sexual tensions rise, tempers flare, and drama blows the story out of the water. Add a Fae Prince, Mack, and a Wolf/Doctor boyfriend to the mix and trouble comes knocking. Will Scar and her boys have their HEA, or will a shadowy evil from the past destroy them all? Read and find out. I couldn't put this one down and can't wait for the next one.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The intimate scenes are written by someone I would assume was a virgin, their unrealistic, and sadly lacking, but the story is so good that I can't help but over look that part, the consent, and charrecter Dynamics are all very spot on and enticing to read, that being said I'm hoping the charrecters we're more flushed out cause constantly thrugh the story I was referring to charrecters as hot guy one thru 5 and even mixing that system up, because they really just blended into each other for this many different moving charrecters it would be great if I could get more then a there all varying states of broody,
so in conclusion love the plot and Dynamics wish the heart of the story was more in depth
LOVED this book! Got as an ARC I haven’t enjoyed a shifter book in a long time but this one certainly did the trick for me. The plot, the characters, the emotional pulling. This book has it and it just makes the reader go UGHHHH as they read. Though this deals with a rough subject I very much enjoy how it plays with the characters development. The guys in the story are each unique in there own way but offer a connection. I hope to see one of the guys further integrated into the harem. And that one of them will step up more and stop the self doubting and trouble they’re causing. Book two holds a much awaited further extension of the plots
