Feeling mistreated and unappreciated, Garfield embarks on a search for a new home. Along the way, he meets up with a clown who works in an old-timey travelling circus. Convinced that this is the place for him, Garfield becomes part of the act. Wait. What is that cannon for? Join Garfield as he travels to find the perfect home, and as he finds a lot of not-so-perfect homes along the way. Writer Scott Nickel ( His 9 Lives) teams up with artists Sara Talmadge (Steven Universe), Shelli Paroline and Braden Lamb (Adventure Time), Ben Sears (The Ideal Copy), and Genevieve FT (Betty & Veronica) for this epic adventure
I adore Garfield which makes this review so difficult for me to write. This book was happy especially wonderful after daily stress but was terrible with how the story flowed. A lot of the scenes with Garfield felt like over explanation rather than adding to the flashbacks but still enjoyable!
I loved Garfield as a child; something about the art, lines, & irreverent fat cat made me chuckle. But some things are best left in 1985. This homecoming wasn’t welcome; kind of why I don’t venture back to Kansas much these days. The tone didn’t transfer to 2019 or I just don’t care. Sorry fat kitty.
Not very good at all. The plot started out interesting but then it just got ridiculously unbelievable. The pages where Garfield was kind of explaining what had happened in the previous pages were drawn well and the characters looked like themselves but in the actual stories of what was going on the characters looked ridiculous and not at all like they’re supposed to and they looked different in each story. I was not at all impressed with this book. It definitely could have been done a lot better.
If I had a dollar for every time I have seen a Garfield story at this point that has him running away from home, only to eventually come back home at some point later down the road, I would be a BILLIONAIRE. The inclusion of a circus doesn't change things up that much, y'know. Also, what is going on with this art style here? It's cute, don't get me wrong, but that's certainly not my Garfield. I'm supposed to think of Garfield as a big ol' greedy slob, not as something I wanna pet and keep safe!

I didnt realise this was new generation Garfield when I picked this one up. Once I got over the fact that this is a chapter book and that the illustrations were not the same as the original that I know and love, this was still a decent enough read for me to continue. This will definitely not replace the classic, but the story had me intrigued enough to finish in one sitting.
Garfield really is spoiled in this story, and there’s not really a moral—unless the moral is if you run away from home, you can manipulate your friends to do whatever you want. Garfield is so snobby and ungrateful that it really frustrated me.
In the first volume of the series, Jon finds an animal education book, and Garfield is in serious trouble. Jon starts feeding first, then only lets him sleep 8 hours a day, and television is forbidden and he has to do sports! When the sporting event starts, Garfield gets mad and leaves home and finds a job in a circus.

Garfield speaking first person about his own adventures outside of the house. Nice read but it didn't make me chuckle much and I personally prefer the standard art of Garfield comics more.
