Broken Bottle

Rate this book
Episode Four Hidden away, Kayla McGann is trying to rebuild her physical and mental health. Slowly, she is finding a way to trust Messiah, the kindly stranger who has offered her sanctuary. With nothing but let downs behind her, and distraught at the Union’s parading of her friend Jed Luca, that trust does not come easy. Woken by the arrival of an unknown craft, Messiah is horrified to discover who is aboard. With the huge bounty hanging over her head, can he keep Kayla safe from his old associates? The past comes crashing back, bringing with it devastating consequences. Elsewhere, Luca continues to be the unwilling experiment of Doctor Schmidt, who is desperate to complete her work. With night looming over the deserts of Meridian Rise, the Doctor has only hours until Agent Victor uncovers her deception. She needs to work fast if she is to achieve the greatness she so badly craves. Broken Bottle is the fourth episode in the Hadrian’s Gate series. It takes the reader into the past, exploring how Kayla ended up involved with Malcolm Gomez and revealing the truth of Messiah’s background. A tough, uncompromising story of desperation, dark desires, and bitter jealousy and hate. Look out for Episode Five, Kragenfeld Mass.

Some authors suffer for their art, some suffer in not being able to fulfill their dream. With a few false starts in her twenties, this author decided to focus on her career in education, exploring her passions for science and history. Marriage and family came along, and attempts to pursue the writing ambitions further faltered. Writing needs peace and quiet to focus, and children seldom offer that space!

Now in her thirties, Georgia returns to the writing fold, a lifetime of story ideas desperate to get down on paper. Of course, it's never that easy. And where to start?

She could have started small, but instead launched into a sci-fi epic and has not looked back since!

The author hopes you'll join her on the Hadrian's Gate saga, the first episodes of which were published in late 2017. With several episodes written, and others in advanced planning, the material will keep on coming.

Georgia Knight lives in a small village in Yorkshire, UK. As a teacher and mother, her spare time is limited, but what she has is spent writing, running, writing, and running some more! Georgia is always happy to hear from readers, so please feel free to get in touch. You can contact her via her blog at hadriansgate.wordpress.com, or find her on Twitter @Hadrians_Gate

This "episode" was really good. Also, now I have made room in my mind that I am NOT going to get an arc in the story, but an arc of a character (with some worldbuilding going on in the background).

These episodes are not just short stories, they are not novellas, but they ARE like TV episodes within a great season.

With that in mind...this was a GREAT episode. I hate the cliffhanger ending...I wanted SOME resolution of the episode, but was JUST left hanging. That decision lost points from me.

I feel bad for Messiah, for Kayla, and in a sense for Nazia (but for her...it is that she was MADE this way, by the life that she lived. She's broken, and no one is going to be able to "fix" her). She's like the broken bottle, the sharp edges are only going to kill her (and put her out of her misery).

That would be sad for Messiah...for sure, but it will also pull Kayla back into the darkness of her mind, too.

Really great story point. Now I want to know what's going to happen NEXT. I mean, a hair's breath after this book ended. I need THAT answer. Ugh.

The Story goes on.

After looking forward to this book I was disappointed in how the story progressed. But A Good ending made me looking forward to the next book.
