I was a bit skeptical about a Bible that claims to be the Bible in novel form, but I was pleasantly surprised! Any additions to the original text were clearly marked, and the bulk of the book is straight from Scripture. Because chapters, verses, and headings are removed, it does read a lot more like a novel and makes it easy to get lost in the story (which, as the title suggests, is the whole point!)

I started with this one because it is shorter, but I will definitely be picking up the whole Bible version soon./

"The Story of Jesus (NIV): Experience the Life of Jesus as One Seamless Story" to me, is a simple illustration of the life of Jesus. It was written like a novel and it used plain English, making it approachable and readable for everyone -even for non-Christians.

Although it is a fairly easy way to knowing Jesus' life I feel that it lack depth that one can only get from reading the Bible. I would say that there are nuances and lessons from Jesus' teaching that are only found there. Now, there are a lot of versions of the Bible but as they say: (1) the best one is the Bible that you will read; and (2) it is important to have different versions of the Bible as there are different schools of interpretation, e.g., strict to the letter, flexible, etc.

Going back to the book, I commend the author for writing this as it makes Jesus' life story more accessible to people.

I appreciate what Frazee was trying to do, but I don't think he really succeeded here. He needed to either use all 4 gospels in their entirety, but organized chronologically (and labelled by book, chapter and verses), or he need to paraphrase the same content. Furthermore, I don't think it was necessary to go on to look at the book of Acts when the focus of this book is supposed to be Jesus' life and ministry on Earth.

Interesting style. A little cheesy with background effects, music and such. Good to hear in one seamless storyline. I listened to the audio book and kept my interest.

I cannot recommend The Story of Jesus, NIV enough. Although it isn’t marketed as a graphic audio, it truly felt like one. The production quality is phenomenal, each character has their own unique voice, making the story come alive in a powerful, theatrical way. It goes beyond simple narration and immerses you in the life of Jesus Christ.

One of the most impactful moments for me was when they gave even the demons voices during the story of the man possessed, whom Jesus freed and sent the demons into the pigs. It made the scene so vivid and real. The entire audio brought Scripture to life in a way I’ve never experienced before.

This is an audiobook that both adults and children can enjoy. As a parent, I plan to listen again and have my child experience it too, it’s a beautiful way to teach them about the life of Jesus. Zondervan did an outstanding job crafting this audio, and it’s easily one of the best I’ve ever listened to. Absolutely loved it!

I listened to the Audible edition. I really enjoyed this book. The NIV version of the bible is easy to follow. The authors comments in between scenes adds to the experience. The narrators did and excellent job of creating a memorable account of The Story of Jesus. The background music of birds singing and of crowds commotion created a beautiful recreation of Jesus' life. Perfect book the week before Easter.

Listened to this. Various narrators. Didn’t particularly car for the continual ambient music and sound effects going on as narrators spoke — particularly screams of the dying. Distracting. I can appreciate that it’s the Bible in chronological order, but why not just read the Bible? I’m not thinking it added particularly helpful insights or interpretation. I like the original and a good commentary more.

This is hard to rate. I give it about a 3.5 for me personally. I think this is great for someone that hasn’t yet read the Bible or is a new believer wanting to learn about Jesus. For me I feel like it was just a contemplation of stories about Jesus throughout the Bible and maybe that’s the point, but I guess I was expecting it to be more Novel like and seamless. I did listen to it and really enjoyed how it was portrayed audibly. I also have The Story which is on my TBR list.

I used the audiobook so hearing the narrative was pretty cool. It seems like most of it came from the book of John. It would have been better if it used the perspective of Jesus from all 4 gospels. Other that, no real complaints.

I enjoyed the Story of Jesus, but some of the narrative parts where weird to me. The story didn't always flow seamlessly. I still believe this is a good learning tool.

I will include reading this in my yearly Lent and Easter traditions. The simplicity of having the stories of Jesus put into a small book form was a refreshing way for me to focus my heart for the Easter season.

Experience The Life Of Jesus As One Seamless Story

The Story Of Jesus is my first completed read of the New Year. As a former librarian and a recovering biblioholic, one of my goals for the New Year isn't to read more but to FINISH more of what I start reading and also to be a more consistent blogger. What better way to accomplish both than to blog about books that are approx. 100 pgs. or less as I complete them! What drew me to The Story Of Jesus (112 pgs.) is it allows you to experience the life of Jesus as one seamless story. It stitches together selections from the NIV and creates an easy to read and understand narrative that is excellent for teens, new believers and a refreshing read for the mature as well. Another added bonus is there is a 7-section set of discussion questions at the end that make for great study. It's inexpensive and an engaging read...check it out! #thestoryofjesus #bible #gospel #goodnews #jesus

I was hoping this would read more like a novel, but it's very similar to the Bible without all of the genealogy and repetition. Certainly a different perspective, and great to basically get most of the highlights of the Bible in a short period of time so it's easier to make connections. There were some stories omitted that I thought should have been included.

This book is about Jesus and his journey of life. This book uses scripture from the NIV, but puts Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John to make one book. I would really recommend this book because it make you think what will happen next. I would rate this five stars because I like bible stories.

This should be basic reading for all that want to gain a greater understanding of the love of God for all of humanity. Praise the Lord and Thank you Jesus.

This was written well and easy to understand. Once you start reading it's hard to stop reading and put down

While the story line was interesting it approbation ended seemingly without an ending.

The 3 stars is just my way of expressing my surprise in the way it came to such an approved ending

I read through this to decide if it was a good level for a tween child to read through on their own. Condensed without losing too much. Level looks do-able with some names and place names posing a challenge (but who doesn't struggle with some of those name pronunciations?).

Great intro to the gospels.

For anyone who hasn't read them, this is a really good read before you start the gospels. I'm starting a bible study of them and this is a easy way to tie them all together and gives you a good reference point or timeline.
