Ms Frost has written another winner with Roughneck. In this installment of the Payne Brothers series we get to know Tidus and Honey. Tidus has always been the town troublemaker and he wears this title like a badge of honor, or so he wants everyone to believe. When Tidus and Honey run into each other, literally, she knows that he's wrong for her, but good girl Honey wouldn't mind taking a little walk on the wild for just once in her life and Tidus just happens to be her wild ride of choice.
Tidus and Honey couldn't be more different but that's what they like the most about each other and also what could end them before they even begin.
This book had me laughing out loud one minute and bringing me to tears the next. I enjoyed the back and forth between Tidus and Honey, and when secrets are revealed they realize both have issues that they need to overcome before they can figure out if they are even good for each other. This was a sometimes emotional, most times laughable read with a great bunch of characters that had me hooked from beginning to end.

Hey! This was pretty damn good!!!!

I loved loved loved the banter between the two MC's!!! And I loved that they were normal people. Not billionaires, bankers or rich athletes. He is a mechanic and she has a food truck that needs fixing so she is stuck in this small town until it he fixes it. Her dream is to become the BBQ Queen and I loved the simplicity of who she was and what she wants to accomplish. I love books that have food too.

The best part was the hero. He was just so original and sexy and his massive self loathing makes him say the worst things. But you eat it up because it's just so so good.

Let's not forget that it's an interracial romance which I adored!!!

Go Sosie Frost!!!! Gotta read some other of her books!!!!

One thing I like about this series is that the characters are all just small town people with real problems. They all have something going on. A promising career that was interrupted in sports and service, a lost faith and now addiction. This book as not as easy going as the previous books. There is still funny scenes with the town folk and sexy banter between the main characters. However, Tidus is broken. There are old secrets that wrecked his life. He does not believe he is worthy of love. It broke my heart they way he and others spoke about him. Tidus made it hard to like him with his smart remarks and self destruction. Even his own family gave up on him. They loved him but just accepted that he was bad news and would never change. Along comes Honey and she too believed he was bad. She was also very attracted to him. She challenged who he presented to the world. She made him better and finally realize that even he is worthy of love. great story!

Honey is excited to start her new barbecue business so the last thing she needs is a fender bender with the grumpy bad boy especially when he is the town mechanic.

Tidus has a difficult past and he feels like he doesn’t deserve anything or anyone good in his life. He is attracted to Honey and knows he should keep his distance but will he take a chance on what could be the best thing to ever happen in his life?

I really enjoyed these two characters. Honey and her family embraced Tidus and gave him what he didn’t know he was looking for.

4 Stars for this bwwm enemies to lover romance. Honey had dreams and hope and Tidus only had nightmares and disappointment. This unlikely couple and the insane circumstances that brought them together was hilarious. Ms. Frost easily weaves humor into a heavy subject matter allowing the reader to connect without becoming overwhelmed in the angst. This would have been a five star read but some parts dragged on too long. Sosie is one one of my faves and this book proves why her books are a must read for me!

Tidus is the town mechanic and all around bad boy. Honey crashes into him and needs him to fix her vehicle. These two had instant chemistry. Tidus has secrets and pain that he keeps from everyone but Honey makes him want to be a better man. Honey has a great family and fits into the Payne family as well. This is such a great read and series.

he was the worst human being to ever exist in those first 2 chapters but like then became ok. very emotional touching story to tell but i couldn’t get over the fact any scene where they got even slightly close to intimacy included him shit talking himself and her saying she wants him anyways.

This was a good read. Honey is trying to make it in the barbecue world but her truck breaks down. She meets Tidus after driving into him. While he fixes her truck they spend time together and of course they fall in love. However, Tidus doesn't believe he is worth loving. Thanks to his family he finally realizes he is worth loving and they get their happy ending.

Roughneck is the fifth book in the Payne Brother series. Tidus and Honey's chemistry was slow and took a while to get into the story. I enjoyed the banter between these two unlikely couples.

Roughneck by Sosie Frost a five-star read that leaves a taste you will never forget. Tidus Payne maybe a broken man, but he broke me. Definitely my favourite Payne brother, it has depths that will astound you, not just with Tidus and Honey but bringing Spencer into the fold as well. The highs and Lows are all part of the story and what a story, I wasn’t expecting Tidus’ tale to be my favourite but it really is, he surprised me with his strength and determination. An amazing read that was so well written that the words simply flow off the page and into your heart.

This is an ARC review.
spoilers ahead.....

I loved, loved, loved this book. First of all, I feel like Frost has finally listened to me about Female Lead and her relationship to her family. In the character Honey, I finally have a FL with a loving, supportive, nuclear family. As much as I adore the Paynes, in general, it was nice to see the female protagonist have a foundation that didn't only include molding into the Paynes.

I really liked Tidus and Honey as people. I found them refreshing. Honey was sweet and determined. She knew what she wanted, and was able to verbalize it in a way that made sense. She was strong, but in a way that allowed her to be vulnerable and accept help when she needed, but also a bit stubborn, but not annoyingly so.

Tidus was a broken man. Normally, I feel a little weird reading about characters with alcohol/substance issues because it's so close to the work I do, and I am constantly looking for ways in which fiction sometimes inaccurately portrays the struggle of addiction. How much hard work it is to stay sober. But I am aware that this story, overall, is romance. Therefore, a happy ending. I think Tidus's self-loathing was realistic, not only with regard to his addiction, but being a product of an affair. Do I think some things were glossed over to reunite Honey and Tidus? Hell yeah! Was I entertained enough not to nitpick the point? Hell yeah!

The love scenes felt like retro Frost. I was thoroughly pleased. I give it a five. From the bottom of my heart. Good job Frost!

Another Payne brother kicks up dust in Butterpond! This time around it's Tidus, the bad boy who is known for causing problems, harboring some hardcore addictions and wears those badges with pride-- at least thats the persona he wants everyone to see.
He has no problem keeping up his act of savagery and indifference until a too good for him woman, and her death trap of a vehicle rear-end him ( in more ways than one ) shaking up everything he knows!
When Honey rolled into Butterpond, she never expected to run into a man like Tidus, or the rest of the craziness that is about to bestow her. No matter, she plans on making it work regardless of what Tidus says. Let the battle begin- Never a dull moment in Butterpond!
What an angsty, heart-tugging story, with a simmering just beneath the surface connection between Tidus and Honey that was intriguing to watch blossom into something spectacular in a slow, maddening and captivating way.
Humourous, sweet, and everything I love about Butterpond, and the rest of the Payne family, this unique storyline had me in its clutches from the first page till the very last!
Finding out why Tidus acted the way he did, having Spencer and Honey be saving graces and the Alpacas ( cannot forget them ) helped make Sosie Frosts' 5th book in the Payne Brother series a Blue Ribbon Winner with me!
One I highly recommend checking out for yourself as well as the other Payne Brothers Books!

Sosie Frost is a master at banter. When I read a book by her, I know that I will be in for a treat when it comes to dialogue. "Roughneck" did not disappoint.

What I assume to be the penultimate book in the Payne Brothers series features the black sheep of the family. Tidus Payne is unapologetic about his life. He's a man who had live his life on the edge, feeding his addictions along the way, and keeping himself emotionally unavailable. He meet cutes Honey when her food truck dies. Tidus is taken by her beauty and her sweetness as he sees in her as a "good girl" who doesn't know her way around a man. She entices him immediately. He sees her clearly but importantly, she sees him in a way that he's not quick to embrace despite her charm. And soon the chase begins with Honey and Tidus, but who is chasing whom?

"Roughneck" is a lot of fun. The flirtatious banter is excellent. The chemistry between Honey and Tidus is really good with believable passionate moments that round out the characters' burgeoning love for each other. Also, there is angst in this book but it doesn't drag down the overall lighter tone of the story. Spencer is an intriguing secondary character that fits in well with Tidus's journey and the hijinks of the colorful Butterpond town's folks are always good for laughs. It also made me very hungry for some barbecue.

Looking forward to the next story in the series, "Romeo," as the Payne Brothers books are very captivating.

This book 5 in The Payne Brother series and it's Tidus' story. And his lovely woman is Honey Hudson.

Tidus broke my heart reading his story. I'm really happy he had at least one person in his corner, constantly, and that was Honey. Everyone seemed to doubt him, even his family. No one seemed to notice that he had changed. He was sober and no one noticed. I found that really sad and it was no wonder he felt the way he did about himself.
Honey is your typical good girl but is a ray of sunshine shining through the thunderstorm that is Tidus Payne. She is trying to make it on her own, in the barbeque world, but has a collision with Tidus and takes over his garage and gets up in all his business and under his skin. She doesn't want to disappoint anyone or hurt anyone, especially her father.

I loved reading Tidus and Honey's story. They were perfect for each other. She was the only person who would ever be able to get through Tidu's defenses. I liked how he tried to help Spencer too. That kid was so sweet but crying out for attention. Plus there's still the utter chaos that is Butterpond. The secret Tidus has held in for 6 years and his past could end up destroying his future, if he let's it! He needs to realise he's not that bad man he's been made to believe. He needs to realise he is worthy of love, from his family and from Honey. And especially to love himself.

Sosie Frost has written another winner centering around the Payne family. In this book, we are introduced to Honey and the deep rooted pain that has influenced the life of Tidus.

Honey has no intentions of making Butterpond her home, but after an accident destroys her ice cream turned food tuck she is forced to rely on the town's only mechanic (that's right, Tidus) to help her to get back on the road. Honey is a woman with a dream and a plan. What she did not envision was falling for the very damaged, Tidus.

Tidus has been silently suffering for years. He is in recovery but keeps it to himself. He doesn't believe that he deserves love - from his family, for himself, and definitely not from Honey. Tidus is convinced that he is bad.

The relationship that develops between Honey and Tidus is full of witty banter and fun moments. She challenges him and he likes it! While this book has all of the things that make the series great (Alicia, the meeting, the mishaps) this book is different in that it was more emotional (for me) than the others. I think it was the perfect story for Tidus and truly enjoyed this book. I can't wait for the next book! I did receive an ARC of this book and am voluntarily reviewing but honestly, I would have read this anyway, as I love Sosie Frost and her books.

WOW, let's do some BARBE-Q, honeybee!!!

So I don't know if I had a preference in this series, but it seems I do and it's by the name of Tidus Payne. He is my all time favorite Payne brother (waiting on Quint's) but I will take Tidus for now and always.
Tidus and Honey, hummmm..... Yes and yes.
Tidus was and is the bomb. He has everything, bad boy, tattoos, alpha, beautiful, handsome with a lot of hidden compassion. He was always misunderstood through the other stories, and now that he has his own story, one can understand what he has been living. Man, send me a Tidus any day, hour, minutes or second because that right here was the drop in this story. The bomb, the best there is.
Honey, OH MY GOD! She was just wholesome. Goody too shoe; a good, very good girl; pure, simple, loveable, honest, hard worker and a forgiver. She saw the good in everyone.
This was a little bit different than the other stories. Where the others had a lot of sarcastic humor, this was so emotional(had a few tears slipped out), yet so sweet for such grimy character, and how everyone showed a little bit of emotions instead of laughter.
Spencer was off the chain and you will never not laugh with Alicia around.
This was truly great and perfect. Let's see if Quint gonna claimed the #1 spot, because Tidus is way up there!!!

Tidus Payne has interested me from the beginning... I wondered what had lead a young man down such a destructive path.. in roughneck we find out and what a tormented soul he is.
He really has had a rough life... with no belief in himself and no feelings of worth he has staggered through life, quite literally without realising the huge influence he has had over his family, without noticing that they took his advice, help and guidance... even if his constant truths weren’t always what they wanted to hear. How could someone so blind to their own problems be so perceptive and supportive to his loved ones.
Then we have Honey.... a true ray of sunshine... she calls Tibus on all his rough edges and questions his bad boy status. She doesn’t allow him to wallow but forces him to see himself and he is amazed that he actually quite likes what he sees.
This is a real journey of strength and trust that I thoroughly enjoyed. Deeper in many ways than the other books in the Payne brothers series, but still with Ms Frost’s undeniable style and humour and the obligatory town meeting..... another not to be missed hit.

This is another well written, heartfelt, and very steamy Payne Brothers romantic comedy set in the small, eccentric town of Butterpond. This latest story features resident bad boy and all-around troublemaker Tidus Payne and Honey Hudson who’s stranded in town when her food truck breaks down. Luckily for her, Tidus is the local mechanic. Unluckily for her, he’s not known for his reliability. While the townsfolk have written Tidus off as the most likely to fail at life, it seems that Honey is the only one who sees through his B.S. to truly see him – and she realizes that he’s hiding something. A secret that’s had a bearing on his self-esteem for years – one that he fears could break his family for good if it’s discovered. As usual the town locals provide plenty of comedic relief as they go about collecting their daily gossip against the backdrop of the impending mayoral election. I enjoyed the sexy, flirty, and oftentimes raunchy banter employed by Tidus in his efforts to corrupt wholesome Honey. For a naïve girl, she certainly gave back as good as she got!

I received this novel as a advanced reader copy (ARC) a few days prior to it being presented to the public. Ms. Frost included a disclaimer in the ARC that it was still being edited therefore there were some grammatical issues. Those were small and simple fixes that did not take away from the overall story. This is the second Payne Brothers novel that I have read. This novel does a good job of letting first time readers know a little about the other brothers and sister (previous novels) without taking the focus off the main characters. The "problem" for Tidus was a little easier for me to deal with than the one that was causing issues for Varius in the previous novel. I enjoyed the initial banter and flirting between Tidius and Honey in the beginning of the novel, however towards the end it began to seem like they were using it as a way to get out of talking about serious issues within their relationship. I was somewhat confused about Tidius' decisions towards the end of the novel regarding Honey and his family. Overall this was a good Sosie Frost novel. I am ready to read the next installment for the last brother, Quint.

Tidus Payne is not ok. He has been seeing his brothers and his sister get their act together and actually be happy for once and he's... Happy for them, except that now he has been left behind, he needs to pull himself together and he can't relay on anyone else to help him, not that they'd try. His life has been spiraling for a while when he meets Honey. Honey had had a good life with a close relationship with his parents and a supportive environment growing up. She had her own food truck now and get goal is to win the award that will finally or her father's recipe on the map, except that the moment she arrives to Butterpond she goes directly into a pothole and crashes her food truck with Tidus' pickup. She has no money and while Tidus seems attractive he's definitely not the kind of guy she would book up with, even if that seems to be the only way to get him to fix her truck, at least that's what she thought but there's a side of Tidus that doesn't seem all that bad, he actually looks like he's hurting.

Butterpond high jinx, characters with sass, slow-burn chemistry to combustion

Roughneck by Sosie Frost is the forth book in the Payne Brothers series. She has once again transported readers to this wonderful, wacky place known as Butterpond. Between the utterly spectacular and hilarious display of Honey’s misfortune and Tidus’s compulsion to aggravate, the push and pull between these two is fascinating, captivating and destined to spontaneously combust.
Tides and Honey’s flirting is cute, sweet, and quirky creating the sexy banter I expect from this author. It was so fun to read, and at times found myself laughing out loud. This book will pull your heartstrings as often as a chuckle. Honey and her innocence, drive and sass drew me in immediately while Tidus made me roll my eyes, smirk and feel his pain.
Overall, another fantastic book by this author that has brought another HEA to the Payne Family.

I've read the other books in this series and I think this is my favorite so far. The whacky characters we've come to know and love continue to make Butterpond an interesting place to live with lots of crazy antics but also plenty of emotions for the Payne Bothers and their feisty sister, Cassie. Honey is trying to make her own way with her bbq truck made from an old ice cream truck. An unfortunate mishap leaves her running into Tidus and the rest if history. These two are like oil and vinegar - she's all sweet and optimistic and he's all dark and brooding (not without good reason). I really enjoy their bantering back and forth throughout the story, and the addition of Spencer, who in many ways is like a younger version of Tidus. There are plenty of demons in this story, and even sweet Honey has her own issues to overcome as she tries to prove herself and win the top bbq award. There were times where I was laughing out loud and others that left me reaching for a tissue. Looking forward to seeing what comes next for the Payne family as we finally get to learn Quint's story.

This was a fantastic read, loved it, loved it, loved it!, Tidus is the bad boy in Butterpond, known for getting into trouble, causing chaos every chance he gets, his drinking and drug addictions. When Honey rear ended Tidus’s truck, it totally damaged her food truck. Her first impression of Tidus is “wow, what a gorgeous man”, but then he starts talking in a rude manner and very sensuously when he realizes what a “good girl she is and very naive. There are definitely some editing issues, but I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline and the characters. Tidus’s sexual one line innuendoes were hilarious and 11 yr old Spencer’s pranks at the church picnic made me laugh out loud. There are also some heart wrenching and emotional issues that Tidus is trying to overcome. Honey recognizes that beneath Tidus’s don’t give a damn attitude lies a good man who needs someone to love him and to listen to him. Great Story.

OMG what an emotional read this book is , we finally get Tidus's story and what an emotional story it is , yes he has a troubled past as a kid and now as a man , until he meets Honey a BBQ cooking woman and the fun begins, they have great banter going on and plenty of laugh out loud moments that hook you from the very beginning when they first met , loved how she slowly picked away at the walls he had built around himself to show him he deserved love from his family and her , but will he push her away like he normally does with people , heads up the little star of this book has to be Spencer his nephew who gets up to all sorts of antics and looks up to Tidus , a well written book with a fabulous storyline , great main characters and side characters , this is definitely a must read and deserves more than 5*

Highly emotional romance and redemption story!

Tidus is by far the most tortured and broken of the Payne siblings. And in this story, we find out why. His chance run-in with Honey only begins to give him a glimpse of the life that he fears is never going to be his. Honey is a sweet character, yet she's filled with such inner strength and compassion that she's the only one who can reach past the pain in his heart and give him a reason to want to change.

This story hits the ground running with an opening scene full of the chaotic hilarity that we've come to expect from this author, and while the humor and sharp wit continue throughout, it never overshadows the emotional core of the story. We're brought full-circle back to Cassi's viewpoint in search of the true meaning of family. It's a terrific story, a little wobbly on the rails at a few points, but still an unforgettable trip to Butterpond. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

What a great read! Titus and Honey are funny, smart, sexy and have that fabulous slow sizzle. Titus is the town mechanic and quite a broken down man. He is a product of his environment . He was a troubled boy that grew into a man that feels he doesn't deserve a chance at retribution . He hides his feelings behind his sarcasm and sexual innuendos. Honey she literally crashes into Titus's life. She is just about to pave her way in the food truck business with her family's famous BBQ when an unfortunate accident happens. When they meet it is a battle of wits and Honey is quite the adversary for Titus. It becomes a cat and mouse game and Honey definitely needs Titus the mechanic and she soon realizes their is so much more to the rough exterior. Titus has never met someone as genuine and sweet as Honey but she is also just as sassy as her BBQ and will not cave to his advances !
Loved their banter and how they both saw what the other needed !!!

Another Payne Brother Finds His Match!!!

In this book we have Tidus Payne and Honey Hudson let the games begin. Notorious bad boy Tidus has definitely met his match when Honey literally runs into him. I have to come to really love this series, it's such a entertaining read from start to finish in each of the books so far. I love how we get to see the comings and goings of the residents of Butterpond, especially those town meetings. The growth and development of Tidus was truly enduring to read, he just makes you get rid of any doubts you may have had about him throughout the series so far. He reaches in and makes room in your heart for him. You can't forget about those crazy farm animals that will have laughing your pants off. You definitely have to read this book as well as the other previous ones to get the true experience of Butterpond and it's entertaining residents. Highly recommend this book you will not be disappointed!!!

Trying to make it on her own, Honey purchases an ice cream truck to use for her Bbq business. Running into Titus as she begins her journey was not in the plan but staying in town while he fixed her truck got her more than she intended. She forces Titus to find the good in himself. Put the past behind, learn from your mistakes and move on with the future. Titus could not see good in anything he did and was an outcast amongst the town and his family. Honey saw the good in him and felt sad that he could not see it himself. You got to love yourself before others so when he pushed Honey away, sadness struck her but it did not take long for his family to get on his case that he left the best thing for him go. Titus wants to change and the one he will do it all for is what he looks forward to most.
