ABYSS: SURVIVING THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE

Outbreak - Day 1

Presidents, premiers, entire governments disappeared instantly, like a fragile house of cards in a hurricane. Some hid deep underground or holed up in fortified strongholds, but most were swallowed up by the dead, never to be heard from again.

a·byss

[əˈbis]
NOUN
A deep or seemingly bottomless chasm.

A wide or profound difference between people.

The regions of hell conceived of as a bottomless pit.

A catastrophic situation seen as likely to occur.

For Cade Grayson—doting father, faithful husband, and patriotic Delta Force operator—the above definitions are much more than mere words following a dictionary heading: They all make up his new reality.

Following a successful mission to the nation’s former capital, Cade returns to the compound in rural Utah to find his life irrevocably altered.

Five days later and still reeling from the catastrophic event that pushed him physically and mentally to the edge of the metaphorical abyss—Cade sets out to fulfill a longstanding promise: escort his daughter, Raven, outside the wire to begin the long process of honing the skills she will need to survive the zombie apocalypse.

But things happen while they are away that put the integrity of the compound and the lives of its survivors in jeopardy.

After unknown entities make a surprise appearance outside the Eden compound wire, and suspicions arise among the survivors that one of their own may not hold the group’s best interests at heart, Cade sets out on a new mission saddled with many more questions than he has answers for.

Will Cade find outside the wire all that he is searching for?

Will the Eden survivors discover a traitor in their midst while Cade is away?

Most importantly: After looking into their own personal abyss, will the denizens of Eden ever be the same?

Discover who has what it takes to survive the Zombie Apocalypse ... and who doesn’t.

Sink Or Swim

Zombies are in the back ground of this story because this is about Cade....After having to perform the greatest act of mercy in his life, Cade is now faced with the very real possiblity(Possible Spoilers) Raven will be alone. Death in ineviatable but he wants to make sure his daughter is as capabale of surviving the nightmare that has become their lives these past four or five months, he must impart to her some of his knowledge to give her the tools she will need to survive when he is not around especially when he has learned learned Duncan left Adrian maimed and for the dead. But is she dead and even is she is there were several that escaped and the mauraders had been doing more than killing and establishing their territory. They are also stripping the flesh of their victims. Cannibles! Whether Adrian is alive or dead Cade knows he cannot have such a dangerous group so close to the Eden compound, or his daughter, especially when he has serious doubts about the latest newcommer. Bridgette is not what she seems and he has questions she cannot answer to is satisfaction. To protect his daughter against any that would threaten her safety, he will become what he was trained to be, a hunter of man. He can no longer afford to give Wilson and Taryn time to adjust, they must sink or swim and they must do it now. Cade will not allow anyone or anything to endanger the life of the only thing that is keeping him sane. He is angy, withdrawn and he is lost and it shows. Sink or Swim is his new mantra. If they are all to survive this dangerous new world, they must learn and learn fast he has no time to coddle them. When new atrocities are discovered leading him to believe Adrian is still alive, now more than ever he must awaken that which was slumbering just below the surface. His demon is awake and he is about to let it loose. Unfortunately Duncan is feeling his own guilt for not ensure Adrian was dead and leaving some of her followers alive. And he has his own demons to fight and appears to be a loosing. Cade cannot help him, he has a job to do....

We are not a witness to Cade's actions when he arrived to find Brook had succumbed to the virus. But he carries the memories with him and it shows, Raven is now his priority, and he will do his best to keep her safe. For him it is sink or swim and he has no intention of drowining just yet. He has work to do, loose ends to tie and Adrian and her followers are at the end of that short rope and he will not be satisfied until they are all dead. This is perhaps the second best in the series(the first book being the best in my opinion). I for one am glad we did not experience what must have been a heart wrenching task. We mourn with Cade, at his loss, his nightmares and the memory of what had to be done. But with the passing of Brook, a much loved and admired character, a new era is born. Over the "four or five months" of the zombie apocolypse we have been a witness to a modicum of what Cade is capable of, now there is a malestrom on the horizon and Cade is the center of the storm. Well done Mr. Chesser.

ABYSS WAS SO WORTH WAITING FOR.

Another great book in the "Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse" and one worth waiting for as Shawn Chesser has done it again. This book was so awesome as it picks up where the last book "District" left off much to my tears and sadness. This book also brings some more of the same, for me at least, much has happened to and with the folks of Eden & Bear River and everyone they call family and friends. Of course much of what happened over the whole area that was the cause of so much madness and grief is laid right at the door of a woman named "Adrian" in Adrianville, the way her people live their everyday I would for sure call a house of horror. Shawn Chesser has does such great writing with this whole series and it does not stop in this book. This is one book and series I would hope others will definitely check out, as I would and do recommend it to everyone I possible can. Then once at the end of "Abyss" knowing there will be at least one more book added to this series, makes me happy for sure. As this one was as much of a cliffhanger as can be, no spoilers here, but even with the ending, there was a tear and an "oh no" moment. Shawn you ROCK, bring on the next book, as I loved this book like all the others in this series. No delays, please!!!!!!!!

You might think with this being the 12th book in the series that it might be, been there, done that but you'd be wrong. Chesser has outdone himself yet again.
Still reeling from the loss of Brook, Oliver and Foley, Cade, Raven, Duncan and the others are now going to take it to the cannibals led by Adrian and the other wastes of skin that follow her.
Meanwhile Dregan and his group are under siege by a massive horde of roamers.
What follows is an action packed, no holds barred tale of blood, vengeance, roamers and all out mayhem.
There are some awesome twists in this book, some good and some that will get your emotions flowing.
This series is a must read for anyone who loves character driven zombie books.

The Best of the Best

This series never gets old or stale. No filler books for Author Shawn Chesser. It was action packed as usual. This was an emotional book for me after the loss of my favorite character in book 11. However the character lives on through her family. Cade becomes a hard core operator on a mission to make this apocalyptic area safe for his daughter. The book was the best Mother's Day gift I received. I loved it, yes there is loss, but it would not be a realistic apocalypse if all the good guys live on. I eagerly await the next book! Awesome job! Shawn Chesser! He is one if the best authors in this genre!

Excellent

Best of the best. Zombie apocalypse and so much more. This series is so good you just keep going back to read it again and again. This book continues the struggle of the core characters against the ever present zombies and the breathers who survive with evil self serving destruction against anything that gets in their way. What does it mean to be a good guy in the zombie apocalypse? Where does that get you? Does it keep you safe? Does it keep your friends and family safe? And when is a zombie a good thing to have around? Maybe when an invader thinks it can march in and steal some valuable information.

Great book! Fantastic series!

What a great book! Something going on all of the time and it just keeps getting better! Without spoiling it, the ending was great! I could have done without the visual description of the really bad guy (or is it a guy?🤔) . Not sure where Shawn Chessr got that description but dang! The ending was awesome! Of course he leaves us with a cliff hanger, but believe me it is worth it. This is a fantastic series. Highly recommended!

Abyss

Another excellent read by Shawn Chesser! I have really enjoyed all 12 books in the Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse. Even the ones that made me cry like a baby. I know that even though good people die too, I am going to miss them. If you haven't started reading this series, then what are you waiting for. Do it now. And Shawn, I'm ready for the next book!

I am enjoying thus series if books SO much! I'm glad this is a large series because the character development has been amazing, and I don't think that could have happened if the author had tried to to rush it. There is just so much detail!! Kudos to Shawn Chesser!!

Pretty good

This one was not the best of the series, but still good. It was easy to guess where it was going but did have a twist or two that did get me. He'll even had a bit of a tear jerker too. Can't wait to start the next one

A gut wrenching read

No spoilers.
A hard chapter for our band of family.
They've diminished in numbers buy folks moving on as we'll as succumbing to both the living as we'll as the dead.
Once again Wyatt and his brothers come to the aid of our survivors.
A must read.

A lot of loss - but a lot of retribution

More loss but not directly to the core characters. The story moves forward, without further loss to Cades family or friends (but some loss TO his friends). I won't tell more (read it yourself).
