Dženiferas vīrs un bērni ir gājuši bojā lidmašīnas katastrofā un, kopš palikusi viena, viņa vairs neredz dzīvei jēgu.
Negribēdama sāpināt savus vecākus, izdarot pašnāvību, Dženifera nolīgst algotu slepkavu, lai tas nogalina kādu sievieti, kura, kā izrādās ir viņa pati..
Bet tad atklājas, ka lidmašīnas katastrofa nav bijis nelaimes gadījums. Kāds ir nogalinājis Dženiferas ģimeni un tagad viņa grib noskaidrot, kurš to ir izdarījis. Un tikai tad mirt.
Stāsts, kurš liek nopietni pārdomāt, cik ļoti mēs pazīstam savus tuvākos cilvēkus un ko tik nav iespējams noslēpt no draugiem.
Par sērām, sāpēm un pat vainas sajūtu brīdī, kad nejaušas sagadīšanās pēc esi izvairījies no nāves. Un, tomēr, par dvēseles sadziedēšanu, piedošanu sev un apņemšanos dzīvot tālāk un varbūt pat vēlreiz mīlēt.

Est ce que cela vous arrive de ressortir un livre de votre PAL dont vous ne savez même plus quand vous l’avez acheté ? Et bien, c’est ce qui m’est arrivé avec ce livre.
Désigné pour mon challenge 12 mois 12 livres, je me suis lancée dedans sans trop réfléchir. J’ai réussi à lire une petite moitié jusqu’à la phrase de trop qui m’a fait abandonner.
L’intrigue était pourtant plaisante, une femme qui a tout perdu se retrouve dans un complot. Sa famille semble être morte par sa faute et elle cherche à comprendre pourquoi. Le problème étant qu’elle a engagé un tueur à gages pour se faire assassiner (ne voulant plus vivre sans sa famille). Elle se retrouve donc avec deux personnes/groupes qui cherchent sa mort. Elle trouve de l’aide auprès d’un homme mystérieux et avec lui, elle part en quête de justice.
Jusque-là, tout allait bien, même si je n’accrochais pas trop, l’écriture et l’histoire étaient bonnes. Malheureusement, un passage arrive bien trop vite et trop brusquement, un complet hors sujet à mon sens. Un rapprochement entre deux personnages qui se termine par une altercation. Quelques pages avant, ces deux personnages étaient bien trop ancrés dans leur ancienne vie pour arriver à une situation pareille.
C’est dommage, mais c’est ce qui m’a fait fermer définitivement le livre. Je n’aurais jamais le fin mot de l’histoire, mais je ne souhaite pas voir jusqu’où l’autrice a été concernant cette relation.

Jennifer Fox's husband and children were killed in a plane crash and she wants to die. After making arrangements to have herself killed, she finds that the plane had been sabotaged and her family murdered. She wants to stop the hit on herself and find the killer before she dies. However, things have been set in motion including a police investigation into her possible involvement. Rook Rydell, mercenary soldier, had provided the initial contact for her, figuring it wouldn't go anywhere. When she returns with her wish to cancel and then he gets an interrogation by the police, he reluctantly decides to help. First they need to know why the plane crash was committed, who was the target and why. This was a pretty good romantic suspense, although I found the initial set up somewhat unbelievable.

The only thing that keep me reading this book was that I had nothing else to read while waiting for my delayed plane.
