The last place that Lucas Sanderson wants to be is his ten-year high school reunion. Nothing has changed. The bullies are still bullies. The headmaster is still stuck in the last century. And Bentley 'Call me Ben' Hammersmith IV is still so charming Lucas can't even be mad at him for forgetting Lucas's name. All he has to do is give a speech, have a few drinks, and then he can get the hell out one last time. Of course, what happens next involves beautiful Ben, an elevator with no power, a call center with no clue, and a game of Truth or Dare not even Lucas could see coming. Never has he ever had a night like this one.
Cute enough if you like the premise and the fact that . As for me, I had to think about the people who are going to use this public facility later and urgh (scrunched my nose!)

I really enjoyed this short piece, it's exquisitely written and so, so full of voice. Allison's writing is really good, and I love how she drew the characters so vividly in such a short story. It has a HFN rather than a full HEA, but it's cute and very readable.
Going Down (2018) by Allison Temple is a fantastic short read.
The story is set at a school reunion ten years after everyone has left. It follows the romance of Lucas Sanderson and Ben Hammersmith. Lucas has always fancied Ben and the story is told from his POV but Ben secretly feels the same. Lucas has to give a speech about his father at the reunion who he didn’t really get on with and is introduced by the headmaster who is a typical old-fashioned bigot who doesn’t even remember Lucas. In addition, the bullies of the school with head honcho Watt are still been idiots. So Lucas has a lot to put up with but he has the support of his friends married couple Felicity and Riya. After the reunion Lucas ends up getting stuck in the lift with Ben. Convenient but fabulous. And they begin to play Truth or Dare which brings out a whole host of secrets and helps them begin to understand each other more.
I loved the story and the author’s writing style. There is a great voice and lots of personality to this short. I really felt I got to know both characters especially Lucas who was my favourite character. His inner feelings about life are very on point and entertaining, very honest which I appreciated. In the course of the story there is many important issues dealt with such as bullying, prejudice towards LGBTQ+ people and people of colour and understanding of where you and another person are coming from to find peace and happiness which Lucas and Ben do when they are trapped together.
I will say that Watt seems to have a bit more to his story. I could be wrong but I felt that he might fancy Lucas and that was why he was being a moron. I could be very wrong on that but that was the feeling I got.
The story is a common plot but the way it is written is delightfully original and the character of Lucas drives the whole story along so, so well. I was very impressed with the writing here. Great humour present too.
This was a spicy and sweet story and kind of a second chance one. Lucas lusted after straight guy Ben in high school and when they reconnect at a reunion, he gets a surprise he wasn’t expecting. The two get stuck in an elevator, with the lights off, and unexpected things happened. I don’t judge shorter stories like this one the same as I would a full-length novel or novella. I think it’s a great little tease and complete enough on its own even though I definitely might like to read more about Lucas and Ben.
This was a short freebie story I picked up from prolificworks. At first I wasn't sure what I was reading, it had the makings of the start of an MMM. I thought the high school reunion/forced proximity storyline was typical but also funny. I still am not really sure what "Watt" is about but I'm thinking the story needed just a little more. I don't feel any of the "revenge" satisfaction you get from telling your high school tormentors to shove off which was missing in this story.
Luke is at a high school reunion where he feels out of place. His former classmate bullied him, and continues to be an idiot, but Luke has grow up. His old crush Ben is there too, all perfect
Until they get stuck in an elevator, and a heated game of truth or dare lays things bare.
Interesting short story, surprising depth, paced well.
Sort of cute and sweet. Lucas was a bit annoying but in a charming nerdy sort of way. Ben was a bit of a mystery. He finally acknowledges that he remembers Luke but never really reveals what he thought of Luke back in high school. Things were were getting interesting when it ended kind of suddenly. Yeah, how nice they’re getting to spend a night together, but is there more to it?
Good enough, however, it is one of those novellas that suffer from "it should be a proper novel length". It feels like a snippet, it has potential but it ends so.... I don't even know if we can call it romance, are they going to hook up for the night only or are they going to have something more meaningful? Lucas is infatuated but I didn't get any romantic vibe from Ben.
An M+M Short. At a class reunion two classmates get stuck in the dark in an elevator. They spend most of their sojourn getting up the courage to admit they want to make out. Sorry, but it tends to get tedioius.
Kind of a typical theme of going back to your high school reunion, although in this case it wasn't really the bully that turns out gay but the untouchable popular guy. Being stuck in an elevator leads to some hot action. Just a short "one evening in their life" kind of thing.
