When the bond Peaches shares with Simon is interrupted, Peaches knows something is wrong.
He must locate Simon before his body begins to expand. With nowhere to turn, Peaches visits their new next-door neighbor, Cecelia, an eight-year-old ice mage, and Tristan’s new apprentice. Cecelia’s guardian, Rags, a Garmr hound informs them they need an experienced mage to help them find Simon.
Peaches knows just who to call and locates Frank, a thorny dragon with a bad attitude and magical ability. Together, they must locate Simon before it’s too late and Peaches grows to the size of a bus. Worse, it’s been thirty minutes since Peaches last had a sausage and he’s getting hungry…
Leap into a new adventure with the Brew & Chew crew and discover why…meat is life!

An avid reader, his influences are too numerous to list here. Some of the most prominent are: J.R.R. Tolkien, Jim Butcher, Kat Richardson, Terry Brooks, Piers Anthony, Lee Child, George Lucas, Andrew Vachss, and Barry Eisler to name a few in no particular order. The worlds of his books are urban settings with a twist of the paranormal lurking just behind the scenes and generous doses of magic, martial arts, and mayhem. Aside from writing, he holds a 2nd and 3rd Dan in two distinct styles of Karate. If not training, he is studying some aspect of the martial arts or martial arts philosophy. A book where Peaches is the star….well I suppose he’s always the star but this was a fabulous little read. Simon has been taken. The bond is weakening and we’re in real danger of seeing an unbonded Peaches XL. He needs help and quickly. Monty is away so he turns to the cold girl and Rags. He also enlists the help of a mage dragon called Frank.
lol the end was the best: I actually want to see Peaches in an all get out smack down against Karma!!! All my money is on Peaches. The Chew and Brew may be small/ young but they are mighty and pack a punch. Cecelia; Rex; Frank and Peaches ❤️❤️❤️❤️
This is the best "book" in the series. I wish it were longer - it was hilarious, fast-paced and fun. I don't need a 10 star scale here - literally worth all 5 stars.
Peaches (the best Hellhound ever) has a crush! It's on the dog/bear (you figure it out) one house over, so any excuse to literally pop next door and see the young neighbour he calls 'Cold Girl' and the object of his affection her guardian Rags (read the book, you'll find out what it's short for!) Is welcome, but it turns out Peaches has a real problem......Simon is gone! Simon is Peaches owner and friend and the only one that stops Peaches going XL and entering Battle mode....city destroying size Peaches while more erudite is not as fun to be around, so the group and a bar owning electrically charged dragon go in search of Simon...... battling Shadowhounds and their evil owners along the way! This is the second short story starring Peaches and is easily as good as the first, a madcap adventure, fast paced with lots action, comedy and one liners leave you feeling like you've read a much bigger book than you have. The best part for me was the snooty nosed put downs delivered by Rags at Peaches and the way the just bounce of the simpler and more literal minded Peaches who is secure in his infatuation! A joy to read, I look forward to the next doggy adventure
A sweet, quick short story with Peaches, Rags, Cecelia and Frank that fills in the blanks left from the Montague and Strong series. This feels like a story that was edited out because their adventure could stand alone.
Hellhound Blues is the first short story set in the Montague and Strong universe, featuring Hellhound, Peaches, in the lead role (don’t tell Peaches this though, I’m sure he thinks he has the lead role in every book he’s in!). He’s joined in this adventure by Frank, the thorny dragon bartender from the Dive in the Night Warden series, and new characters Cece, a young ice mage and her guardian, and the love of Peaches life, Rags to rescue Simon, whom Peaches feels is missing and in danger. It’s fun and snappy and great to see things from another point of view. As usual, although this is the first story in this particular series, I’d recommend familiaring yourself with the characters in both the aforementioned book series prior to reading this to get the fullest enjoyment from it
The fans of Peaches wanted a story centered around the hellhound, and Mr. Sanchez delivers with gusto! This is a fun short story with plenty of action and a story of substance you don’t often see with the short novellas.
Simon and Peaches bond has been interrupted, and that only means trouble – for both. Peaches must enlist the help of Cecelia, the child ice-mage that is in training with Monty, her guardian (I’ll let you read about that little nugget) Rags, and a dragon, Frank.
I laughed and cheered on Peaches and his “Brew & Chew” club, and it was a fun read. It will be a lot of fun to read more adventures from this little trio, and if that doesn’t get you, Peaches has a crush on Rags…..and remember – meat is life.
Hellhound Blues is a story from the perspective of Peaches, Simon's hellhound bond mate from the Montague and Strong series. This books is funny and exciting and takes you through Peaches' search for Simon and the adventures he faces as he tries to find Simon. Peaches enlists the help of some new friends and they face many adversaries along the way. It is ultimately a story of strong bonds and friendship and the lengths Peaches will go to to find Simon. It is fast-paced, funny, and heartwarming. A must read for everyone, especially fans of Orlando Sanchez's Montague and Strong series. It's a great peek into the mind of Peaches, the hellhound.
When Simon disappears, and Peaches feels their bond getting weaker he's in a rush to find Simon before the bond totally breaks. Knowing that he needs help he goes to the cold girl and her companion Rags. As they set out to find Simon, Peaches tries to be a good hellhound and remember the lessons Simon has been teaching him. This may be a novella but a lot of who's and whats get revealed, then, of course, Karma has to drop in! I see some very interesting adventures to come for this Brews and Chews gang. Love the story and can't wait for more!!
Peaches is on a quest to find Simon. Their bond is so weak that he can't smell or sense him and he worries because when their bond breaks, Peaches turns into an uncontrollable monster. Seeking help he pulls some friends together. Frank is a mage dragon in miniature, the "Cold Girl," and Rags her hound guardian. Their quest takes them into the In-between world and pocket dimensions. They see action while finding their way to Simon. An excellent short story and start to books featuring this group in particular. Hail to the new "Brew and Chew club.
This short novella set in the Montague and Strong and Night Warden universes is a fun read that allows us to get to know Peaches, Simon’s bonded hellhound, and some other members of the newly formed team as they race to help restore the bond between Peaches and Simon before Peaches turns into Peaches XL and destroys...well, everything! Hoping we will see more of this crew. In the meantime, whatever you do, do not address Peaches as hound, or dog...just use his name and all will be A-OK! Grab your copy and enjoy!
Peaches has a problem. His bondmate, Simon , has disappeared. This is NOT good. If Peaches can't find Simon, and re-establish their bond, then destruction will reign down upon the world. Peaches really doesn't want to go Peaches XL, so he seeks out the help of CeCe, Frank the Dragon mage, and Rags, Cece's guardian... And all h*ll breaks loose...
What a hoot! A rollicking good tale, dashing from crisis to catastrophe, to the earth shattering finish! Loved it!
This is a novella and the start to the brew and chews group. Staring Peaches, Frank, Rags, and the Cold girl. Simon goes missing and the bond is breaking, and Monty is visiting Dex, so Peache really has no one to go to for help, or does he? He joins up with Rags and the Cold girl, aka Cece and with a little help from Frank the lizard, I mean dragon. They all go on a rescue mission to save Simon and their special bond. Very good book, can't wait for the next adventure of the Brew and Chew.
Peaches to the rescue ..... again!! Another short story where Peaches comes to the fore. As a spin-off from the brilliant Montague and Strong Case Files our "Meat Is Life" hero joins forces with his new neighbours to rescue his bondmate before Peaches himself suffers the consequences. If you like your fantasy to involve a story well-worth reading and (slightly!) tongue-in-cheek then this is for you. Excellent
Peaches stars in his very own short. He is fantabulous, of course! Simon disappears, and Peaches senses their bond weakening. Peaches gallops to the rescue the way any self-respecting hellhound would. He gathers a few very special friends, and together they deliver the pain to the bad dudes and rescue his bond mate. Peaches saves the day! (Was there ever any doubt??)
I loved this story, even though I’m aging fast and will hit the BIG number soon. Younger children might like this story read to them; older kids can read it themselves. I’m sure they’ll enjoy the adventure.
Ceci, the pretty inhuman girl, is wonderfully written, as are Rags the Bear-Dog and Mage Frank who is a lizard-dragon.
Of course, The Star of this story is Peaches the Hellhound.
This was an amazing short story starring everyone's favorite hellhound Peaches. I loved the interaction between all of the characters and getting some of the backstory behind Rags. The book was well written and fast paced. I managed to read it during my lunch hour at work. I look forward to more offerings from the Brew and Chew Crew. Well done Mr. Sanchez, well done.
A nice short story in the Montague and Strong universe with everyone's favorite hellhound, Peaches, taking the lead, gathering a team of rescuers to find and save his bondmate, Simon, before their bond is broken and he, Peaches, becomes a weapon of mass destruction. Lots of fun and excitment.
A nice short story about Simon and his hellhound Peaches.
Peaches finds himself separated from Simon. He bravely goes and searches for him. In the way, he meets a dragon, guardian and s Cold Girl. I like the challenges Peaches faces. He also shows his intelligence, and his love for Simon. He makes friends along the way.
This was a delightful read, prefect for the afternoon lull. Peaches is my favorite character so having a short story dedicated to his perspective is awesome. I hope there are more to come and I can’t wait to read more about the brew and chew crew misdemeanors.
I have been an avid fan of Orlando's books and this book has just taken that to another level. A story featuring Peaches was a Brilliant idea and just makes you love him that much more. Introducing a new crew for Peaches to hang with give you more of an opportunity to learn more about him and understand how his puppy mind works.
It was great to get a bit of Peaches view on his life. Loved getting to see more of Frank. I especially enjoyed how in spite of his rougher exterior, from hanging with Grey and company, Frank cleaned up his language around Cece. Looking forward to more Brew and Chew adventure!
I can’t wait for more Brew and Chew adventures. I have read books told in the first person, but this is my first first dog narrative. So cute. So funny. But what else would you expect from a hellhound named Peaches.
This new short from Orlando Sanchez brings two of my favorite characters together. Fur and scale fly, along with omega beams and ice orbs. A tasty between-meals snack for members of Meat-is-Life fanclub.
This is a really fun, short story staring our favourite Hellhound, Peaches. And features Frank, he is so much fun! More.insight to Cece and rags too. Look forward to reading more from them.
I love Peaches & it was great to interact with his friends. Frank was funny trying to keep from cussing. It was really good to get another piece of the puzzle & Karma dropped a hint at the end.
While the story is a short one, it is filled with the consistently fun antics of the myriad but colorful crew of Brew & Chew...Two thumbs up. Thank you for writing this.
