Good book, more for east coast climates but good information. Depending on the amount of trees you hug you might be put off by all the non organic fertilizer recommendations, but they can be useful at times.

Excellent resource for gardeners wanting to take their game to the next level. Month by month instructions for what tasks to tackle - seeding, planting, fertilizing, weeding, pest control and more - make me excited for next year's harvest!

My number-one fave gardening book of all time. Even though I live in the Rocky Mountain region (Denver) and we have unique aspects of gardening a mile high, Bob Thomson has some great ideas for planning and growing a new "victory" garden for the 21st century. We've built his compost bin, cold frame, tomato cages and cucumber/bean trellis (or rather, MY HUSBAND) built them for me. I've used them for years and they are GREAT! Best gosh-darned all-around gardening book of the century.

What an overwhelming, intimidating and helpful guide to gardening. Bob Thompson is pretty hard-core. His gardens are not for the faint of heart.

Different from other gardening books I've read, the tips are organized by month. (ex. In March, do this to your garden. In April, do this. etc.)

Old-school gardening techniques are out-of-date and definitely NOT organic. Basic knowledge on what to plant when can be found in other books.

Thomson used Crockett's format and updated varieities and uses more chemicals.
